celtics have been playing really good defense after starting out awful, next they just need to figure out offense

think theyll prob work their way to the good but not great team that was generally expected

one has to think that jayson will remember how to score the ball

a lot of people are saying the best offense is a good defense

this is much more the team profile i thought they would have

feel like they should be able to get to at least middling on offense

feel like this is right as far as their defensive improvement

Slowly but surely, Udoka has righted the ship with this group on the defensive end in the past two weeks with a number of subtle but effective moves. He’s scaled back the defensive switching among the team’s true bigs (Rob Williams). He’s also leaning more heavily into playing strong wing defenders (Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford) off the bench over potential defensive liabilities (Payton Pritchard, Jabari Parker).

Those shifts combined with some improved effort and understanding from Boston’s personnel has rocketed this group back towards the top of the NBA since the start of November. After Monday’s 98-92 win over the Cavs, Boston improved to 5-2 in its last seven games despite playing without Jaylen Brown for five of those contests.

the other day i was listening to bill simmons list his top rookies of this year and in my head i jokingly shouted "peyton pritchard!" (again, in my head...) and then i was like, wait what happened to that guy? his stats this year are ghastly! i guess his playing time is really getting jerked around tho looking at his game logs

xp if they can get both Js playing at the same time for most of the season the offense should move up to middling

Pritchard had insane buzz coming out of summer league and yeah, he's been awful.

just hasnt gotten much burn, and the celtics offense being very bad and out of sorts hasnt helped him when hes been in there, need to be getting him clean looks from deep

udoka has been throwing out some just awful all bench units too, basically lost them the 1st cavs game that way, tho in his defense he was missing a bunch of guys

that was also a back to back after an overtime game, to be fair

yeah he left them out there for so long thooo

they remain terrible at putting teams away, i think i can remember one comfortable win this year?

that was the case for the entire brad era too though. so many games where they went into halftime down 10 to a mediocre team and then IT or kyrie had to pop off in the second half

i guess lately its been the reverse where they play worse in the second half

celtics are coming around, playing good d, got jaylen and rob back, offense is looking less chaotic, schroder has settled solidly into the 3rd scorer spot, crushed 3 bad teams at home in a row, jayson is putting together a string of good games, i like this team its nice

yeah i'm still too burned to say this is clear upward trajectory but they look a heck of a lot more like the team i was hoping for before the season. i was encouraged that they just came out and smacked houston in the mouth in the 3rd quarter after a close first half, they need to do a lot more of that against lesser teams.
