my feeling is with their guys healthy the celtics are who we thought they were a second tier team

but when their guys go down its tough cause they just dont have enough offense, not just in scoring but also playmaking, theres barely a plus passer on the roster, as far as guys who actually get minutes its just rob and horf and neither of those guys have the game/position where they can force the issue as far as making plays, but when jayson and jaylen are both playing they can solve some of that just by putting pressure on the D via driving and at the 3pt line, then just make the simple pass once the defense is in rotation, jaylen got jayson some nice 3pt looks last night just via very easy drive and kicks

yeah it's a great point, no perimeter passing and no one who really moves without the ball, so the only way they can create advantages is by attacking and driving over and over which is tough in terms of expending energy and actually having enough guys who can do it effectively.

when its working it looks pretty nice start tiring out the other team and drawing fouls/gettin open kick out 3s, but yeah you have to be relentless and its not the easiest way to make a living

having rob in there getting behind the D is nice too for that style, he gets a couple early dunks and his defender def starts worrying about rotating off him

it would be nice for nesmith to learn to move without the ball more

yeah running around a bunch and then also hitting the shots he gets would be ideal for him

There’s a rift that formed between you and the core members of that 2008 Celtics championship team: Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo. It apparently began when you left for Miami. Are there still hard feelings?

We don’t talk, sadly. I remember after we won in 2008, something that Kevin said, that we’re going to be brothers for life, that this is going to keep us bonded. Rip Hamilton and I are UConn brothers and champions and we’re connected for life. When he won in 2004 with the Pistons, they stayed connected and bonded. That’s something we’ve done a poor job as Celtics, keeping that bond connected. It’s not by my doing, either. The whole story of me leaving for Miami, regardless of that, it doesn’t change anything that we’ve done as a group. That group and what we did is historic. It’ll take cooler heads to prevail and for guys to say, ‘What are we mad about?’ There are so many other things happening in the world. We got to preach unity and togetherness, and for me, that’s always been my mantra. I don’t like the fact we haven’t talked. At some point, I’m sure we will have conversations and move this stuff past us.

By my count, the Celtics have been basically healthy for 24 of the 115 games they’ve played since the beginning of last season.

A lot of those games have a non-Jay rotation player out or are in Jayson’s “not technically covid but covid aftermath struggles” period.
