lag∞n, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 00:55 (two years ago) link

think they could actually try this pairing more but they need to bring mike

lag∞n, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 00:55 (two years ago) link

isn't there a whole 'do they like each-other?' element to it with them?

honestly this has been covered to death locally--the short version is they are fairly different people, they have different things going on (jaylen has a tight crew that he hangs with, jayson spends a lot of time at home with deuce or does very low-key social things), but they are completely fine as colleagues and coworkers and always have been.

tatum just hit pritchard for a quarter-ending clean 3 with a nasty shot fake into a pass. he's starting to enjoy setting his teammates up. i really feel like once you're elite playmaking can be as fun as scoring if you've got guys that can make shots around you.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 01:48 (two years ago) link

Fantastic line from Horf tonight - 3-5-7-3-3, on 0-1 for shooting

The elusive 5x3

lol that is not normal

on one

Jayson Tatum in March:

34.4 PPG
7.3 RPG
53.2 FG%
45.5 3P% on 9.9 attempts
90.0 FT%

He leads the league in points and threes per game this month. pic.twitter.com/xl5g7SqDyz

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 23:20 (two years ago) link

anyway weve known for a long time that losing close games isnt predictive of much including losing future close games, also we learned this year that shroder-smart is not a good closing backcourt lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 23:24 (two years ago) link

also it seems like the celtics….. have a pretty legit bench now that can stabilize the game? theis, white, pritchard, grant.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 23:30 (two years ago) link

yeah the trades def helped take them to the next level but they were already playing really well by the time they happened

lag∞n, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 23:38 (two years ago) link

it's true. a lot of things have come together.

i loved rob williams clapping for the fans the other night, more players should do this

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 23 March 2022 00:20 (two years ago) link

tatums been blowing kisses to the crowd when he hits a dagger, celtics are fancy free lol

i didn't see this! was it like how players clap for fans in euro soccer? i always liked that and it has never been imported here for whatever reason.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 March 2022 01:31 (two years ago) link

yes exactly that. it was in denver so kind of extra worthy of acknowledgement that so many boston fans were in the house but it’s nice to see that communication back with the fans, that appreciation

Jaylen Brown on the Celtics chasing 1 seed: "It's crazy, right?...I knew the energy was about to shift, so I'm glad we're here now."

He explains that the energy shift tweet was that things weren't going right for the Celtics cause Mercury was in retrograde.

get em lol

One of my favorite sequences of the entire season.

Celtics have a 27-point lead and Payton Pritchard's defending like it's the last possession of a tied game.

Full-court clamps. Steal. Dunk. Bench goes wild. Fans go nuts.

Their energy is contagious. pic.twitter.com/YLtCQZzxrb

Awesome clip, it's been very gratifying to see Pritchard firing on all cylinders after how he started the year. Cs have 3 days off now, playing Minnesota and the Kat Bevs on Sunday. A little sad tbh to have such a long break when their momentum is so huge. But I'll take it.

We've reached that time of year when you can look at the remaining schedule and start penciling in Ws and Ls. 2 big games left for the Celts against the teams they're jockeying with, both nationally televised - Miami on Wednesday and then Milwaukee 2 weeks from today, second to last game of the season. The Bucks have a brutal schedule moving forward, I think we catch them before then. That game could be huge. Without any analysis, just eyeballing what's left the Heat and Sizers have a lot of cake games, feels like the Cs end up in 3rd which seems ideal. I'm not as scared of the Brooklyn bogeyman as some but would still prefer the Cavs/Bulls/Raps.

One cool thing about the play-in is that it really cuts down on jockeying for opponents, so much is unknown. Ppl seem to be assuming the Nets will face #2 but if you combine the odds of them losing the first play-in game and them falling into 9th altogether (admittedly feels unlikely after the Hornets shit the bed against the Knicks last night), they could certainly end up against #1.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 24 March 2022 16:13 (two years ago) link

yeah was thinking the same re trying to avoid the nets

lag∞n, Thursday, 24 March 2022 17:08 (two years ago) link

and yeah great to see pritchard get cooking not getting regular minutes was obvs fucking with him earlier in the season but i think also the celtics offense as a whole was pretty bad so it wasnt generating the clean looks he needs and then all of that was messing with his confidence, now hes getting pretty close to just launching every time he has a window which is what he should be doing, ive noticed they position him pretty far behind the 3pt line a lot really trying to stretch the defense out and it seems like it gives him a lot of different shots to step or roll into too
