One of my favorite sequences of the entire season.Celtics have a 27-point lead and Payton Pritchard's defending like it's the last possession of a tied game.Full-court clamps. Steal. Dunk. Bench goes wild. Fans go nuts.Their energy is contagious. pic.twitter.com/YLtCQZzxrb— Taylor Snow (@taylorcsnow) March 24, 2022

Awesome clip, it's been very gratifying to see Pritchard firing on all cylinders after how he started the year. Cs have 3 days off now, playing Minnesota and the Kat Bevs on Sunday. A little sad tbh to have such a long break when their momentum is so huge. But I'll take it.
We've reached that time of year when you can look at the remaining schedule and start penciling in Ws and Ls. 2 big games left for the Celts against the teams they're jockeying with, both nationally televised - Miami on Wednesday and then Milwaukee 2 weeks from today, second to last game of the season. The Bucks have a brutal schedule moving forward, I think we catch them before then. That game could be huge. Without any analysis, just eyeballing what's left the Heat and Sizers have a lot of cake games, feels like the Cs end up in 3rd which seems ideal. I'm not as scared of the Brooklyn bogeyman as some but would still prefer the Cavs/Bulls/Raps.
One cool thing about the play-in is that it really cuts down on jockeying for opponents, so much is unknown. Ppl seem to be assuming the Nets will face #2 but if you combine the odds of them losing the first play-in game and them falling into 9th altogether (admittedly feels unlikely after the Hornets shit the bed against the Knicks last night), they could certainly end up against #1.

yeah was thinking the same re trying to avoid the nets

and yeah great to see pritchard get cooking not getting regular minutes was obvs fucking with him earlier in the season but i think also the celtics offense as a whole was pretty bad so it wasnt generating the clean looks he needs and then all of that was messing with his confidence, now hes getting pretty close to just launching every time he has a window which is what he should be doing, ive noticed they position him pretty far behind the 3pt line a lot really trying to stretch the defense out and it seems like it gives him a lot of different shots to step or roll into too

Boston Celtics center Robert Williams is feared to have suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. It could lead to an indefinite absence, which would be a tough loss for the Celtics as Williams is shining as the starting center this season.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) March 28, 2022

very curious to find out if they did one of the procedures that gets you back quicker but could lead to issues down the line or if they just got lucky with the severity of the tear
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 30 March 2022 15:39 (two years ago) link
A meniscectomy (I've had one) is where they cut the torn part off of the rest of the meniscus. It's quicker healing, but you lose part of the meniscus. A meniscus repair is where they sow the torn part back to the meniscus, which preserves the meniscus, but is a much longer recovery time. I'm fairly certain nearly all athletes opt for the former, but I could be wrong.
― reassessing life after bookmarking a Will Smith thread (PBKR), Wednesday, 30 March 2022 15:49 (two years ago) link
they usually assess based on the severity of the injury. i don't think doing the trim necessarily leads to issues down the road, but my concerns are more around rob being a slow healer and relying so much on leaping ability.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 30 March 2022 15:52 (two years ago) link
Re: Robert Williams, I'm always skeptical of any meniscus surgery timeline shorter than 8 weeks. And if he does come back faster, we've seen guys like Metta World Peace, Mo Harkless, and Brandon Roy who pushed back for the playoffs have major issues going forward.— Nate Duncan (@NateDuncanNBA) March 30, 2022
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 30 March 2022 17:56 (two years ago) link
Brandon Roy had much deeper knee issues than a slight meniscus tear.

ten year old study on the famous meniscus
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nba-players-meniscus/most-nba-players-recover-from-meniscus-tears-idUSTRE7BF23P20111216
While one in five of the athletes never returned to play another NBA game after the injury, those that did return generally got back to their pre-injury playing level. That was based on a calculation that weighed athletes’ points, rebounds, fouls and turnovers in the seasons right before and after the injury.
The athletes missed about six weeks worth of practice and games before returning to play, on average.

from the Athletic, Ime pinpoints the vibe shift:
If you had to pinpoint a moment where it started turning around and why, what would that be? Coming off the West Coast trip, we had a hard session where I went at them pretty hard.Where were you? Paint that picture for me a little bit.Film session (in Boston), back off the Utah, Portland, Clippers, Lakers, Phoenix trip. We didn’t have a good trip, but it was more so all the things that we had built to that point. Whether we were losing some big leads, playing a certain way. And we didn’t (play well on) that trip. So I hit them with a 75 clip film session — 75 different clips.Plays you didn’t like?Yeah, whole categories of (them) not having physicality, not moving the ball. Ran the whole gamut, and we hollered at them.
