sixers seem to agree with me
#Sixers’ Joel Embiid (right knee soreness), James Harden (left hamstring, injury recovery) and Paul Millsap (non-Covid illness) are all out for tonight's game.— Keith Pompey (@PompeyOnSixers) April 10, 2022
and i guess dont care that thybulle cant play in toronto
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:16 (two years ago) link
only way to get out of it at this point is to lose to the grizz's bench, or for the nets to lose their play-in to the cavs
― ciderpress, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:17 (two years ago) link
im sure thats the plan
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:18 (two years ago) link
tho on the other hand if you take the 2 seed then you have home court vs the bucks in the 2nd round
should just forfeit todays game but i know you have to at least appear try which will probably be enough to win
― ciderpress, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:19 (two years ago) link
yeah thats a good point might still be better than the 3 seed
i feel like the celtics can put a worse team out than the griz if they want, especially since the griz dont need to lose
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:20 (two years ago) link
just make it illegal for kyrie to play here
― ciderpress, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:20 (two years ago) link
this decision by the sixers is kinda wild they could actually lose to toronto
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:22 (two years ago) link
do they have tiebreakers over the bucks? this is all very confusing
― ciderpress, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:24 (two years ago) link
yeah they have the tie breaker over bucks and philly
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:26 (two years ago) link
okey dokey
Ime Udoka said the Celtics are going to play their guys. Al Horford is working on some back tightness, but they expect him to play. Regular starters.— Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) April 10, 2022

lotta ins, lotta outs, so might as well get the actually-trying-to-win-games karma on your side, right
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:38 (two years ago) link
ill be honest i dont love it, i think the celtics will beat the nets but still i dont think theres any point in playing the nets if you dont have to, tho having home court in the second round is good
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:39 (two years ago) link
ideally the nets would just lose this game in which theyre leading by 4 to the pacers here booting them to the 8th spot at best
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:40 (two years ago) link
does the highest seed to advance from the play-in face #2 and lowest face #1, or does whoever wins the 7-8 game automatically play #2 (even if 7 loses but then beats the 9-10 winner)?
god there's no way to write about this stuff without being confusing
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:41 (two years ago) link
winner of 7-8 gets the 7 seed and other winner gets the 8
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:42 (two years ago) link
hmm so the only difference between 7 and 8 is getting home court for the 7-8 game?
― ciderpress, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:52 (two years ago) link
yea
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:54 (two years ago) link
i've come around to thinking the 2nd round home court is more important as long as you think the bucks are a tougher matchup than the nets
― ciderpress, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:55 (two years ago) link
which i do think
you risk a first round upset for a better chance at going all the way, seems like something to do. i dont think first round fatigue is enough to offset home court
― ciderpress, Sunday, 10 April 2022 21:56 (two years ago) link
i think the chance of losing to the nets is well more than home court adds to beating the bucks tho, particularly considering theres zero chance of losing to the bulls
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 22:00 (two years ago) link
pretty crazy that the bulls were in first place not that long ago and are now maybe the worst team in the east off/ins
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 22:02 (two years ago) link
also philly really shouldve played the nets in the 1st round
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 22:05 (two years ago) link
ah well maybe the nets will lose the playin game, or maybe the celtics will only play their guys for five minutes tonight
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 April 2022 22:06 (two years ago) link
yeah no philly-nets series is a big loss for us all
― ciderpress, Sunday, 10 April 2022 22:09 (two years ago) link

i'm really curious if there have ever been any other trends like this with this stat--they basically went from being like the #26 team in their lowest month to the #1 team in their highest.
it's an odd team stat in general--bottom 3 this year are the bucks, jazz, and raptors.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 11 April 2022 01:26 (two years ago) link
i think the 4 seed is better cause you avoid the bucks in round 2
isn't the problem with the 4 seed that you're playing toronto and we still don't know if the celtics are fully vaccinated?
― fact checking cuz, Monday, 11 April 2022 04:46 (two years ago) link
imo its pretty clear that they are but i guess its moot now

from todays big athletic piece on udoka
As much as he is influenced by Popovich, Udoka often recites former Utah coach Jerry Sloan, going as far as to implement one of his sayings into the nightly scouting reports.
“One thing Jerry used to say that I use with the guys is ‘tuxedo guys’ … that’s a kind way of saying a guy is soft,” Udoka said. “On every scouting report, we have ‘tuxedo guys’ and the whole team has kind of run with it. Jerry would say certain guys like to ‘play in their tuxedo’ — you know, have a nice, easy game, don’t touch them, how’s your family? … Nah. We’re not about that.”
lmao celtics are calling players soft on their scouting report i simply must know who the tuxedo guys are

jaylen refusing in a weird way to talk about anything
Asked about his vaccination status, Jaylen Brown pointed out he missed the playoffs last year. He said he’s “ready to play against anybody” in the playoffs, implying he would be able to play in Toronto. But he said he won’t comment on his vaccination status or anyone else’s.— Jay King (@ByJayKing) April 3, 2022
Jaylen Brown declined to say if he is practicing Ramadan: "Ramadan is a special time, definitely in relationship with God and relationship with adversity, persevering through distraction and any negativity...Ramadan is something special, that saved my life in many ways."— Jared Weiss (@JaredWeissNBA) April 14, 2022
― lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2022 18:12 (two years ago) link
i thought his reason for being cagey about vaccination was his position in the players union or some such nonsense. also someone tell jared you don't "practice ramadan"
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 14 April 2022 18:14 (two years ago) link
its not the typical terminology but in my muslim opinion ramadan can be considered a religious practice
― lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2022 18:23 (two years ago) link
Ramadan is something special, that saved my life in many ways.
I think he answered the Ramadan question, but indirectly. His refusal regarding his vaccination status was a definite stonewall, but we'll be able to draw an accurate conclusion when the series moves to Toronto.
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 14 April 2022 18:35 (two years ago) link
imo he was stronger re being vaxxed he only confirmed that hes practiced ramadan before whatever that means
― lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2022 18:43 (two years ago) link
theres also other info out there that points towards him being vaxxed fwiw
