lag∞n, Tuesday, 22 November 2022 17:47 (one year ago) link

oh weird maybe it was actually all in my head. or else i saw it somewhere else and somehow didn't share it here

ciderpress, Tuesday, 22 November 2022 17:54 (one year ago) link

hmm it might have been jr smith and not carmelo but it was one of the two. my investigation has dead ended at a link to a deleted tweet though

ciderpress, Tuesday, 22 November 2022 18:06 (one year ago) link

jt drives good now

📽️New video on the NBA app is how Jayson Tatum has grown as a rim finisher and penetrator, and how it's boosted his efficiency. https://t.co/SW466HqDT0

damn i didnt know larry had such low self esteem

Larry Bird talks about all his doubters when he was coming out of college and how long it took him to realize he would dominate the NBA. Spoiler: it took him three days.

celtics came out serious about this game

lag∞n, Thursday, 24 November 2022 01:21 (one year ago) link

pretty good

Celtics with 54/52/84 splits in their 70-point first half.

tatum blocks luka off the backboard -> pure 3-pointer by brown in semi-transition. they are a handful on both ends.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 24 November 2022 02:53 (one year ago) link

that was a very satisfying sequence

lag∞n, Thursday, 24 November 2022 02:54 (one year ago) link

i am a horrible nitpicker since i've watched these guys entire careers, so sometimes i try to imagine being a fan of the other team and it does not seem fun to go against them

call all destroyer, Thursday, 24 November 2022 02:57 (one year ago) link

its true theyre all grown up

celtics go up 16 in the 1st, decide to not play for most of two quarters then go on a 35-4 run

lag∞n, Saturday, 26 November 2022 03:11 (one year ago) link

this homestand is real tasty--anything less than 5-1 would be disappointing

call all destroyer, Saturday, 26 November 2022 03:52 (one year ago) link

celtics much better at finishing games so far, prob has something to do with ditching a lot of the iso play

huh! pacers and lakers tables very strange

xpost

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 26 November 2022 15:57 (one year ago) link

thinking about how part of the celtic mediocre defensive numbers is prob the fact that theyve gotten out to a bunch of big leads then coasted til the end when they put the clamps on if they need to, they did totally shut down the famous kings offense when they needed to last night, that and the okc game are the only ones where iirc they really flipped the switch on d, but it does seem like they can if they want to, and getting rob back should help with that too

lag∞n, Saturday, 26 November 2022 16:02 (one year ago) link

starters still playing too many minutes is really my only complaint, need to give the big 3 bench whites more minutes

lag∞n, Saturday, 26 November 2022 16:03 (one year ago) link

adding another center should happen too but thats not pressing

lag∞n, Saturday, 26 November 2022 16:04 (one year ago) link

playing fewer minutes could allow guys to try harder on d too, coasting most of the time is not the best from a habitual pov

lag∞n, Saturday, 26 November 2022 16:06 (one year ago) link

yeah agreed like the suns have the #2 offense and #4 defense but still have about the same net rating as the celtics, having a middle of the pack defensive rating is just circumstantial to the offense being an outlier

ciderpress, Saturday, 26 November 2022 17:33 (one year ago) link

doesnt really matter how you do it if the margin is big enough. they're not like one of those offense-only teams that sinks in the playoffs, those teams always have much smaller MOV than 7 points

ciderpress, Saturday, 26 November 2022 17:36 (one year ago) link

their defense has been better recently too, started off the season really bad

lag∞n, Saturday, 26 November 2022 18:10 (one year ago) link

last 10 #1 offense #4 defense

lag∞n, Saturday, 26 November 2022 18:11 (one year ago) link

“big 3 bench whites” lmao

from ice cr?m’s lips to joe isuzu’s ears: tatum resting tonight

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 27 November 2022 23:07 (one year ago) link

pretty creaky shit so far imo. not sure grant has a real role with this setup apart from hang out in the corner waiting for someone to pass him the ball. on the other hand it is entertaining to see if anybody on the wizards be able to stop jb taking it to the rim. so far signs point to “no”.

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 27 November 2022 23:23 (one year ago) link

Second unit looking sick as usual

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 27 November 2022 23:30 (one year ago) link

they didnt seem to miss tatum too much, too bad the bench couldnt close it out tho

lag∞n, Monday, 28 November 2022 02:51 (one year ago) link

lmao from the athletic

He has come a long way from the player Marcus Smart remembered when Brown first got to Boston and was trying to do it all.

“A little story: When Jaylen first got here, he used to go 1-on-5, 1-on-4, just throw up some bulls—,” Smart said. “We would look at him like ‘Jaylen, what are you doing?’ And his excuse to us — or his reasoning was, ‘When everyone is telling me to slow down, the defense hears that, so I’m going to speed up.’ And we were like, ‘No, no, no, Jaylen, that doesn’t make any sense.'”

lag∞n, Monday, 28 November 2022 15:27 (one year ago) link

“Smart be making up stories in his own head,” Brown said. “Don’t listen to Smart, man.”

lag∞n, Monday, 28 November 2022 15:29 (one year ago) link

big game tonight

No changes so far to the Hornets injury report for their game at the Celtics tonight.

LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward, Cody Martin and Dennis Smith Jr. are all out tonight in Boston.

ciderpress, Monday, 28 November 2022 17:25 (one year ago) link

Celtics should rest Brown and Tatum both.

Guys can I just say, I know it was the Wizards, but Kornet was AMAZING last night. Looked like the second coming of Kevin McHale down there.

I also think that Horford might have lost a step on defense. Not sure about that - it might be deliberate for him to be sagging, but he just doesn’t close out 3s.

In general the defense was good but then again, how in the hell did the Washington Wizards score 121??

Tracer Hand, Monday, 28 November 2022 17:43 (one year ago) link

celtics offense has been so good that they can afford to coast on d is how i break it down to an extent

lag∞n, Monday, 28 November 2022 17:44 (one year ago) link

kornet has been great hes a skilled player but hes just so slow that a determined team could take advantage of him if they wanted to, but he should be able to soak up some regular season minutes at the least, as i said im in favor of him and the rest of the sullys getting more burn

lag∞n, Monday, 28 November 2022 17:47 (one year ago) link

it's funny that they're just using him as a giant roll man, my thought (and i don't think i was alone) was that they would have him popping and shooting threes a lot more. instead he just gets dunks.

call all destroyer, Monday, 28 November 2022 19:04 (one year ago) link

it doesnt seem like he wants to shoot threes even tho he can make them

lag∞n, Monday, 28 November 2022 19:07 (one year ago) link

down two starters celtics still put up a 45 point 1st quarter

lag∞n, Tuesday, 29 November 2022 01:09 (one year ago) link

hornets are putting a truly depressing squad out there

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 29 November 2022 01:19 (one year ago) link

its bad lol the worst team minus their three best players

lag∞n, Tuesday, 29 November 2022 01:20 (one year ago) link

everyone talking about how the celtics have "the best offense ever" but i really need someone to disseminate the relative to league average and quarter season data

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 November 2022 15:45 (one year ago) link

obvs a lot of this comes down to the just absolute hoisting theyre doing, 2nd in 3pt attempts and first in percentage which is a very winning combination, that will simply have to cool off horford is shooting 48% from 3 derrick white 45 which are both 10+ points over their career averages

but how much will it cool down maybe not as much as one might think, because it should be noted that the celtics are creating absolutely pristine looks, shades of 2014 spurs with constant player and ball movement excellent unselfishness and all around very wise basketball play, however befitting todays nba theyre more skilled than that spurs team, theyre playing five out but its not just a matter of everyone being able to shoot they can all put the ball on the floor and make plays too, which is pretty hard to defend, another thing theyre doing thats really good and can sometimes be hard for good ball movement teams is recognizing good opportunities and taking them, everyone is ready to go, they are very aggressive always attacking, theyre not passing up good looks

another reason their shooting might not dip that much is that their two highest volume shooters arent actually shooting well from 3, tatum and brown at both at 34%, which youd think will probably come up, also sam hauser a legit sniper is prob gonna get more minutes which will help with the nums

anyway its pretty cool to watch this nice team

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 November 2022 16:00 (one year ago) link

curious to see if they can keep rolling against miami, they match up well against the celtics and are not really a team that you think of as being easy to beat twice in a row
