have to agree with scal that 4 out with rob is better offense than 5 out

― lag∞n, Monday, January 16, 2023 1:43 PM (seven minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

it's definitely better against the hornets, god it's easy to score at the rim against these guys

call all destroyer, Monday, 16 January 2023 18:52 (one year ago) link

it's also easy to get corner threes against them

call all destroyer, Monday, 16 January 2023 18:53 (one year ago) link

they should try defending high percentage shots imo

shams https://theathletic.com/4098049/2023/01/17/nba-trade-deadline-poeltl-collins-vanvleet-shams/

Spurs center Jakob Poeltl has gained significant trade interest from teams such as the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics, according to league sources who, like all the other sources in this story, were granted anonymity so that they would be able to speak freely.

i would like to see them get and resign poeltl, rob + him at center al mostly at the 4 would be very nice, poeltl might want to start tho hes a starting quality player but if he doesnt mind playing behind rob hed be a very nice long term piece, tho having a bunch of money committed to centers isnt really considered smart nbaing these day but i guess if the celtics dont mind paying the tax who cares

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 January 2023 20:48 (one year ago) link

ideally it would be better to get someone who can play the center and pf tho a nance jr type but im not if those are available, also poeltl is good at what he does

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 January 2023 20:53 (one year ago) link

the first celtics coach i was conscious of, seems like everyone who met him liked him

RIP Chris Ford: a player who got everything out of his natural ability and as unpretentious and normal a human being as any coach I’ve ever known. He was like your next door neighbor who just happened to be going to work at the Garden. And, yes, he made the first NBA three.

Joe Mazzulla takes us inside the riveting conversation with Jayson Tatum deciding he would play almost the entire game: "I looked at him, he looked at me, and we just kinda said yeah. So that was it."

Love Joe but it does feel like the players are running the show a lot of the time

Just caught the end of that game.. It was Horford's night. Just outstanding. And to think I was writing him off in my head a few days ago! Getting creaky, beatable inside, three-pointers his only move... nuh uh.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 20 January 2023 09:52 (one year ago) link

yeah he can still step up when he wants to i guess

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 14:43 (one year ago) link

Al Horford: “The reality is it was a big game. I wanted to win. I wanted to win really bad.”

— Jared Weiss (@JaredWeissNBA) January 20, 2023

love that he just admitted it didnt bother with all that media politics

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 14:46 (one year ago) link

tatum had 19 rebounds thats crazy he really can do it all

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 14:48 (one year ago) link

that game was like a defensive battle except if the teams werent actually playing that good d

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 14:49 (one year ago) link

seems like by now the league should have figured out dray's little handoff move where a guard curls around him and he screens just long enough for them to pop a shot off, but no

Tracer Hand, Friday, 20 January 2023 15:26 (one year ago) link

defending steph curry is hard

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 15:35 (one year ago) link

and klay too but steph is just extremely problematic in that action, and then youve got drays passing off the short roll to deal with too

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 15:43 (one year ago) link

like just doubling curry in this situation seems like the best bet since dray isnt a good finisher but then steph will just pass it to him rolling to the rim and instead of trying to force a layup if one isnt there he will just play the famous warriors 4 on 3 halfcourt fast break and pick you apart with his excellent passing

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 15:47 (one year ago) link

noticed marcus trying to do a crazy spin move under the pick with his arm shooting out at the end of the spin to contest which just seems hopeless to me but whatre you gonna do the warriors will make you try things

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 15:49 (one year ago) link

with klay since hes not much of a dribbler you prob just switch it and hope for the best, prob the best play for curry too especially with the celtics since they have very switchable big men, i mean you dont really want horf on an island with steph but youre picking your poison there anyway

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 15:51 (one year ago) link

al did a good job on steph on the final possession of regulation tho! steph did not get a good shot even tho he had plenty of time and did not need to take a three, prob wouldve been better to just attack off the dribble right away and then see what happened from there, instead he dribbled out the clock and took a very bad shot

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 15:54 (one year ago) link

steph had an extremely bad 4th quarter

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Friday, 20 January 2023 15:55 (one year ago) link

prob gassed back end of a road trip intense game

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:00 (one year ago) link

they wanted it. first time starting the small lineup, tight rotation. good game high stakes... but mistakes were made in the 4th.

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Friday, 20 January 2023 16:02 (one year ago) link

yeah both teams wanted it used serious rotations neither played super good but fun game anyway def some playoff vibes

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:04 (one year ago) link

wasn’t it also the first time celts started their best 5 guys?

Tracer Hand, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:06 (one year ago) link

they didnt start brogdon tho haha one mans opinion

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:08 (one year ago) link

celtics won on the offensive glass +10 which stands to reason since they played big and the dubs went small

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:08 (one year ago) link

fwiw i do think the way theyre using brogdon makes sense always have two of jb jt and brogdon on the floor and youve got a lot of offense out there, and keeping his minutes down in the regular season is good too

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:10 (one year ago) link

lol if mazz starts brogdon over smart the seismic waves would be felt all the way to chicopee

― lag∞n, Friday, January 20, 2023 9:08 AM (four minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

dubs did pretty good going small in the finals but wiggins was a beast on the glass then and last night looked disengaged a bit. also had otto who is an extremely good small ball rebounder

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Friday, 20 January 2023 16:15 (one year ago) link

its kinda funny the celtics have four very good guards but their best lineups are big, theres an imbalance there, think theyll prob try to add another big man cause starting horf and rob together either leaves you forced to go small some of the time or play kornet big minutes, add someone better who can play center and youve fixed the least flexible part of the lineup, and of course al and rob are known to miss games, then the only spot youre really not deep at is the wing but thats more acceptable since the jays will play big minutes in the offs

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:18 (one year ago) link

guess jb is a guard and a wing in that formulation but you know what i mean its complicated business

healthy rob this time around too

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:22 (one year ago) link

xp its tough to put the perfect roster together in 2023! every team is missing... something

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Friday, 20 January 2023 16:22 (one year ago) link

it is hard but still i think the celtics should construct the perfect roster

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:25 (one year ago) link

robs so good at getting in the mix for rebounds outside his zone, even if he doesnt get them he gets tons of tips keeps balls alive creates chaos and paranoia

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:25 (one year ago) link

the celtics big man thing is interesting, i would like them to find another guy but it's pure injury insurance for al/rob so how much do you invest in that? i guess they're not going to be any closer to a title than they are now.

call all destroyer, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:26 (one year ago) link

if they got someone good like just for instance purtle or nance jr it would be more than insurance they could be in the rotation and then youre planning for a post or diminished horf future too, tho they could also just get someone cheap like plumdawg which would be more for the regular season and then some playoff spot minutes

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:30 (one year ago) link

purtle isnt ideal since hes a pure center and rob is too and hes on an expiring and will want a dece contract which is something you dont really want to give a backup center but something like gallo pritchard a first and a second to a third team to take gallo since you cant trade him to the spurs kind of makes sense

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:33 (one year ago) link

idk tho maybe plumdawg instead

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:36 (one year ago) link

thing is its hard to put something together without including gallo and if you do youd rather it be for a actual good player since its kinda shitty to unload an injured free agent who took a discount to sign with you

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:38 (one year ago) link

here you go:

The Milwaukee Bucks and center Serge Ibaka have mutually agreed to find the 14-year NBA veteran a new home via trade as he remains away from the team, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

surely he must be so cooked

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 16:41 (one year ago) link

celts can just stockpile big cooked dudes who will never play

Tracer Hand, Friday, 20 January 2023 17:10 (one year ago) link

blake and ibaka would be good for the vibes at least they could make some behind the scenes prank videos or something

lag∞n, Friday, 20 January 2023 17:14 (one year ago) link

forgot you had blake lol is he done where was he last night? weird career, hes only 33 and has been cooked for three years

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Friday, 20 January 2023 17:22 (one year ago) link

hes so done just hopeless he plays drop d is such a way thats he backs up until hes out of bounds and the other team has dunked
