also i just dont like zinger as player and as a guy, last couple years teams after they got rid of kanter were finally free of guys i do not like which was nice, but it did have guys i do like like marcus smart
― lag∞n, Thursday, 22 June 2023 13:50 (two years ago)
smart averaged 34 mpg in the heat series, brogdon averaged 19. smart played 35 mins in game 7, brogdon played 7
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 22 June 2023 14:01 (two years ago)
with cad on this one, smart constantly being upsold due to ~intangibles~ was going to become a liability the moment he starts to decline. better to rip off the bandaid now
― ciderpress, Thursday, 22 June 2023 14:03 (two years ago)
smh heartless
― lag∞n, Thursday, 22 June 2023 14:16 (two years ago)
the minutes played in the ECF by smart & brogdon aren’t irrelevant. brogdon isn’t just a normal injured guy he has notoriously some of the worst medicals in the league that just scuttled a trade less than 24 hours ago. his most recent injury was not related to his chronic issues but i don’t think you can just pencil him in for 35 mpg in round 3 of the playoffs. if he’s healthy great but you need a real plan b for the postseason, it can’t just be rolling pritchard out there. i think they’ll be fine for the regular season & they still have assets so it’s not a dire situation or anything but for as much as i see how they had too many good guards for the amount of minutes available, i still think they need to find another good guard now bcuz brogdon is a dice roll to me
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 June 2023 14:35 (two years ago)
for all of smart’s flaws he was a really reliable postseason player. the offense would come and go but you knew he was gonna play hard, play a ton, and contribute heavily on defense. the celtics are giving that up in favor of two guys who for diff and similar reasons i can’t say are very reliable. that doesn’t make it a bad trade or a reason not to do the trade but it adds a real element of risk that they prob need to address still i do applaud them for getting ahead of a potential age related crash in horford’s play & they are insuring against rob’s injury history too. and absorbing some of the skillset loss from grant williams walkingto be clear i don’t think it’s a bad trade, there’s just prob an equal amount of stuff in the pro and con column for me, and a lot of it theoretical on both ends so we’ll see how it plays out
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 June 2023 14:45 (two years ago)
i think i like this from memphis' side. there is a chance boston is selling high on smart but he's only 29, they'll prob get at least two pretty good or better years out of him. they don't need another pick in the 20s they're already overloaded w/ young guys who may not be good. idk what the protections are on the warriors pick it could be juicy but you do have to give something up to get something. they prob need to find a real PG themselves tho at least for the first quarter of the season
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 June 2023 15:11 (two years ago)
2024 first round draft pick from Golden StateGolden State's 1st round pick to Memphis protected for selections 1-4 in 2024 and 1 in 2025 and unprotected in 2026 [Golden State-Memphis, 7/7/2019]
light protections on this one, of all the various bets being made across this deal boston getting some real upside on a mediocre to bad warriors regular season is nifty
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 June 2023 15:13 (two years ago)
yeah couple few warriors mishaps and that pick could be nice
― lag∞n, Thursday, 22 June 2023 15:35 (two years ago)
miami & the lakers have picks just outside the lottery and also advanced very far in the playoffs. obv too early to say whether coming out of the play in to win 2-3 rounds is a repeatable path, and it's hard to imagine any teams tanking into the playoff in order to get a better draft pick while also trying to compete in the playoffs. but it does add a little wrinkle to something like this warriors pick where it could be a "win" for both sides if the warriors ended up in the play in but advanced a few rounds anyway while boston got the 16th or 17th pick
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 June 2023 15:48 (two years ago)
tanking into the play in* rather

The Knicks and Clippers have had contact about a potential Paul George trade, per SNY sources. It is unknown if Clippers are willing to move George. @TheSteinLine reported earlier that Clips gave rival teams the impression that they were gauging George's trade value last week.— Ian Begley (@IanBegley) June 22, 2023

"do you guys like julius randle?""not really""hmmmm"

which thread are we using tonight?
― Spottie, Thursday, 22 June 2023 17:50 (two years ago)
i think the preferred option is the 2023 draft thread
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 22 June 2023 17:53 (two years ago)
the draft thread would be nice for the draft tho i guess we might get some attendant moves crossing over here… i’m not the boss tho

i...kinda love this for cp3 and the warriors? at least this year.
― slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:15 (two years ago)
hahaha what the heck
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:15 (two years ago)
24 year old who just helped us win a chip for a 38 year old washed up star
i guess it gives them flexibility after this year
― Spottie, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:16 (two years ago)
love this wizard wheeling and dealing, winger isn’t messing around
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:17 (two years ago)
so is cp coming off the bench then?
― Spottie, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:18 (two years ago)

Warriors are sending Jordan Poole, a protected first-round pick in 2030 and a second-rounder in 2027 to the Wizards for Chris Paul, league sources said. https://t.co/GLCIS0bDsg— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) June 22, 2023
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:21 (two years ago)
i guess the protections will tell the story on the value of that pick... it must be very lightly protected or else the wiz are taking this deal on for basically nothing
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:22 (two years ago)
omfg
― lag∞n, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:23 (two years ago)
this is a crazy ass trade
cp3 and the dubs were enemies!

― slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:24 (two years ago)
some fucked up trades happening
― lag∞n, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:25 (two years ago)
I'm actually very stoked about this, if true. CP3 is pretty fragile come playoff time, but this org is pretty good at making sure people are healthy for their post season runs. Probably allows for Draymond to sign a decent 3 year deal for himself too, and Poole can move on to greener (and less Green-er) pastures.
― octobeard, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:26 (two years ago)
lol hey i talked myself into gobert for awhile, you can do it!
― Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:26 (two years ago)
Though, Poole getting stuck in Wizard purgatory is kinda poetic and apropos for his personality and play style of late. Now he can put up big numbers and a bunch of turnovers on losing efforts to his heart's content.
― octobeard, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:27 (two years ago)
loool xp
― lag∞n, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:27 (two years ago)
funny that cp3 is on the dubs but its mostly just a salary dump, second apron doing unspeakable things to the league
― lag∞n, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:28 (two years ago)
poole bout to put up 28 ppg on 44/33 splits and have at least 3 highlights per game.
― Spottie, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:28 (two years ago)
yup
― lag∞n, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:29 (two years ago)
this is a mutant-ass curséd trade lmao
― Clay, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:31 (two years ago)
this is nuts. has steph ever played with anyone remotely like cp?
all i know is, dubs opponents need to start guarding their crotches very closely with cp and dray on the same team. can they trade for grayson allen?
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 22 June 2023 19:35 (two years ago)
"has steph ever played with anyone remotely like cp?"
jarrett jack

love to partner with the star
Golden State will not waive Chris Paul and is looking forward to partnering with the star to make a championship run, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport.— Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes) June 22, 2023
