well there are a few variables going into the size of that contract that don't necessarily appear on the court, but he's a good player and he'll help them

a working theory of the current cba and financial environment is "pay anyone on your team who can play because losing them for nothing is going to be worse" and yeah a lot of teams are going to put that to the test

i saw someone say this in relation to FVV the other day but apparently the TV deal is going up in two years & so it will be a good offseason to be a FA. that must be what the bruce brown thing is about

FVV would actually be a great fit next to luka

but they've limited annual cap raises to 10% so i'm not sure that will result in an insane amount of new money? idk maybe i'm wrong about that.

how was bane eligible for such a big raise on a rookie extension without all-star/all-nba? is it just the cap space growth?

i like halliburton a lot but thats a deal you make with the confidence that hes at least the second best guy on a contender.

yeah bane is getting a 25% of the cap max which is non supermax so it’s just a reflection of the cap raising

like, the top (x) guys in the league, its obvious, just max and relax. for those secondary stars, i guess the standard operating procedure is to max them too but feel less good about it. the third guy...you cant max him and have any depth without plunging to tax hell. is bane their second best guy?

he’s their third best player… he is better than MPJ who is a similar third best player (well theoretically anyway) on a max w/ other young core guys, but memphis does not have a jokic

what’s nuts tho is that JJJ is actually on a declining contract. $27m this coming year then $25m then $23m… gotta be one of the team friendliest deals in the league. that last year he’ll be making less than like half the league at this rate
