Until now dame has always said "a contender". naming a specific team only undercuts any small leverage the blazers had in cutting a deal. that's not asking for loyalty, that's asking the blazers to lay over and play dead.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:24 (two years ago)

he would absolutely make miami a lot better offensively, but if we poke the suns for being top-heavy, the heat would have probably the same problem?

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:27 (two years ago)

if the blazers trade dame for the two firsts and tyler herro, lol

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:30 (two years ago)

so...jerami grant's deal...

― slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, July 1, 2023 12:06 PM (twenty-three minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

also, lol

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:30 (two years ago)

teams with the best deals for dame

picks deal: nets

picks and guys deal: celtics

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:31 (two years ago)

its a shame, if you're portland you should probably ask for herro bc hes the best player miami is willing to part with, but he might be too good if u r just trying to tank. also miami can only trade like their 2027 and 2029 picks so you'd need pick swaps which would probably not matter anyway, its not like the heat will ever be bad. hindsight is 20/20 but the trade market for him wouldve been huge in the summer of gobert.

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:34 (two years ago)

on the plus side for blazers fans, at least they dont have to pay him $63M when he's 36

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:34 (two years ago)

i mean they dont have to trade him to miami

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:35 (two years ago)

no they dont and they shouldnt, its a bootycheeks deal for them

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:36 (two years ago)

if he’s going to Miami this is a three+ team deal, portland is possibly the worst destination in the nba for herro considering the glut in the backcourt even with dame gone

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:37 (two years ago)

The Heat is Lillard’s preference here. But he also has a deep respect for the San Antonio Spurs organization, sources told ESPN. https://t.co/IXhiZwJ24V

lol cannot see the spurs doing this at all even though theyve got hella cap space, picks, and some young players

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:43 (two years ago)

i think the celtics will try to trade jaylen + 3 firsts for him

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:45 (two years ago)

lol chauncey prob sweating bullets about now

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:46 (two years ago)

this is a terrible time for twitter to be on the blink

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:47 (two years ago)

I too have exceeded my rate limit

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:48 (two years ago)

im able to get on regular twitter, but tweetdeck is not loading 4 me

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:49 (two years ago)

know its been said but cannot believe he did this mere hours after they gave grant that huge deal lmao

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:51 (two years ago)

blazers might need that grant deal to hit the salary floor now lol

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:52 (two years ago)

secret twitter is hopping

ciderpress, Saturday, 1 July 2023 16:57 (two years ago)

blazers should not self-sabotage to make a now former franchise player happy

ciderpress, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:02 (two years ago)

if they take a worse offer to get him to miami i will place the Basketball Curse on them

ciderpress, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:04 (two years ago)

otm

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:04 (two years ago)

miami's best offer is probably:
2027 1RP
2029 1RP
4 1RP swaps (24, 26, 28, 30)
lowry
martin
herro
jovic

for dame and nurkic

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:09 (two years ago)

that’s not great!

call all destroyer, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:10 (two years ago)

that’s dogshit honestly

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:11 (two years ago)

and will they even have a basketball team after that trade or just 3 guys they can join the 3v3 league

ciderpress, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:12 (two years ago)

like either lowry or herro HAVE to be included and they could add duncan robinson just to make the money work without throwing in nurkic, but thats even worse of a return for portland. i just dont see miami having enough to make it happen unless they can trade herro to someone for at least a couple first rounders and change.

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:16 (two years ago)

other teams can just beat miamis package straight up (lol) and they prob will in which case its just up to portland to do dame a solid or not

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:19 (two years ago)

my opinion is they should not do him a solid

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:19 (two years ago)

why would you do someone a solid who has just requested a trade doesnt make any sense

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:20 (two years ago)

basketball reasons

ciderpress, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:21 (two years ago)

I guess there’s the classic “no one will sign with you if you don’t do what your players want” gambit but guess what folks no one is signing with portland anyways nor have they ever

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:22 (two years ago)

sounds like dame doesnt totally have his heart set on the heat anyway, hes not from what weve heard saying miami or bust so is prob persuadable to go somewhere else, feel like thats usually the case after a trade demand anyway

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:24 (two years ago)

he will prob chill and accept that he is and always has been “a net”

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:25 (two years ago)

dame "mr net" lillard

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:27 (two years ago)

i think the heat are gonna spin herro to a third team for at least another first & im not sure there will be that many more picks on the table from other teams than that. brooklyn could still beat it but it would prob be close enough for portland to save face. the other contender type teams like clippers, philly etc don’t have much to trade

i don’t think portland would want jaylen brown (or any currently good player) & apparently dame’s dad… or his agent im forgetting… flat out said he’s not going to boston

J0rdan S., Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:30 (two years ago)

also i forget the machinations of it all but the heat’s picks are somewhat encumbered by a protected pick they owe OKC and i feel like the oladipo trade to OKC that was announced at midnight last night is a tell that there may be some skid greasing already in progress

J0rdan S., Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:33 (two years ago)

wait who’s giving up a first for herro?

call all destroyer, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:34 (two years ago)

brooklyn has a lot of first rounders (2 in 2025, 3 in 2027, 1 in 2028, 3 in 2029) mostly from phx. ben simmons is a big contract that can come back, should be able to get nic claxton if you like him. dinwiddie is on a $20M expiring deal.

spurs have like potentially 6 first rounders the next two drafts, plus atl's unprotected in 2027 and an atl swap in 2026, plus all their own first roudners, plus about a dozen and a half 2nd rounders. spurs have cap room so salaries dont need to match exactly, but theyd almost certainly have to send out keldon johnson who is at least good and on a great contract.

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:34 (two years ago)

regardless what dealing miami does they just dont have the assets for a competitive offer

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:35 (two years ago)

hes gonna demand like 5 or 6 firsts or equivalent in guys

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:37 (two years ago)

if portland doesnt want jaylen, which i suspect they do, boston could easily trade him for three or four firsts, if dame is like i absolutely do not want to play in boston should anyone care idk

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:39 (two years ago)

waiting til after the draft and the first day of free agency to demand a trade is lame -- i'm guessing the blazers might have done things a little differently if he'd done this even two days ago

mookieproof, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:39 (two years ago)

celtics might care portland shouldnt, maybe if celtics and nets put up similar offers they take the nets to be nice xp self

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:40 (two years ago)

if dame is like i absolutely do not want to play in boston should anyone care idk

you know this isn’t how the NBA works….

J0rdan S., Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:41 (two years ago)

sometimes maybe idk theres no law

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:42 (two years ago)

i suspect were not seeing him go to the heat tho, its not impossible but it would be very dumb on the blazers part

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:43 (two years ago)

I’ve got news for you the blazers are not smart

Clay, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:45 (two years ago)

thats the thing that keeping me thinking its still a possibility

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:47 (two years ago)

i do think dames list of preferred teams increasing is the most likely outcome tho

lag∞n, Saturday, 1 July 2023 17:49 (two years ago)
