i listened to the windhorst et al pod segment about it and they were talking like it wasnt going to be a very big return for him because of the bad contract age injury history didnt even mention the nets or celtics but did mention the sixers these guys are supposed to be wired right idk, tbf none of them mentioned what they were hearing was all presented as speculation
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 13:59 (two years ago)
oh utah too dark horse, but if utahs in splashing around picks why not the other teams
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:02 (two years ago)
because dame went to college in utah but idk does that mean he wants to go back, i guess it would be the ultimate contrarian move
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:04 (two years ago)
theres also a rumor that garland is available which talk about a very good young player rare to see a guy like that on the move
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:07 (two years ago)
if you wanna hear lengthy discussion about whether boston could would should trade for dame lillard there is a podcast for you it’s called the bill simmons podcast ft ryen rusillo
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 14:12 (two years ago)
im sorry none of those words mean anything to me
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:18 (two years ago)
one of the problems with trading for dame or garland is that their lineup would be kinda fucked, playing either of them next to white would be pretty dicey just too small
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:21 (two years ago)
he’s not being traded to utah c’mon now none of us are new here. he’s not going to san antonio either. if he was going to accept a trade to a team like that he’d just stay in portland
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 14:21 (two years ago)
agreed that both of those sounds pretty silly, tho utah at least might be good
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:23 (two years ago)
philly is the most interesting just interestingwise
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:31 (two years ago)
but their 2029 pick is the only one they can trade lol
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:33 (two years ago)
maybe they can get another couple somehow then throw maxey in too would be better than miamis offer and dame would prob be cool with it
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:34 (two years ago)
sounds like an auspicious year
― ciderpress, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:34 (two years ago)
still think the nets are the cleanest deal but who knows if they want him, after the superteam failure they might be happy to try to actually build a team, which would be smart, maybe they take a shot at garland, thats what id do
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:36 (two years ago)
if the celtics and nets sit it out maybe theres not a big deal for dame out there, but i bet someone puts a big offer in
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:39 (two years ago)
ppl keep saying philly can offer more than miami & i don’t understand that at all, at best their offer is basically the same — a few picks and a small no defense shooting guard. maxey is a valuable “asset” but a terrible fit in portland this is the exact same issue miami has
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 14:40 (two years ago)
i think maxey is prob better thought of than herro but yeah pretty similar, one thing working against miami is their picks arent that desirable cause the teams is always good, also maybe philly can get one more pick than miami can idk pretty speculative they only have one pick right now
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 14:41 (two years ago)
a big problem is that the new york teams don’t seem to be willing to lose their shirts for him even tho they could both put together a massive 5 pick style offer. but it doesn’t seem like the knicks are involved at all & if all brooklyn needs to do is beat miami’s offer they don’t need to do all that. but how badly do the nets want him, nobody really knows
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 14:45 (two years ago)
the teams that are most motivated to get him — miami, philly, clippers — just don’t have a lot to offer. it’s not a great place for portland to be
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 14:47 (two years ago)
i suspect that someone will trump those teams offers but its also possible that for whatever reasons no one will, there are only 30 teams after all
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 15:02 (two years ago)
if the clippers were willing to move pg then they might be in the mix
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 15:03 (two years ago)
i 100% believe portland is giving him an effective no trade clause i also believe dame doesn’t want people saying that the blazers were forced to take some shitty offer for him. so does dame start expanding his list or does it become one of these things where the league like bands together to get the guy to his team & to get the team save face level assets in return. i kinda feel like it’s gonna be the latter but we’ll see
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 15:08 (two years ago)
that is how he would get to miami lol
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 15:15 (two years ago)
*steepling fingers*
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 15:30 (two years ago)
It's getting very obvious that moving Lillard to a contender for a reasonable return package is not going to happen any time soon. Too many competing interests and not enough flexibility in the CBA to allow all those interests to be smoothly meshed. Most of the available options require either the Blazers or Lillard to be left holding the dirty end of the stick. Thanks, Biden!

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has agreed on a five-year designated rookie maximum deal that could be worth $260 million, his agents Bill Duffy and Joe Branch of WME tell ESPN. pic.twitter.com/d0UTdqFgD9— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) July 3, 2023

I’m not sure what WME is but looks like ant is getting t paid
― k3vin k., Monday, 3 July 2023 16:31 (two years ago)

I think any random person off the street could have gotten that deal donebut great news, I'm glad the Lad will be a Wolf long-term

shams and woj seem to be really naming the agents this year
― very sneaky cis (symsymsym), Monday, 3 July 2023 16:44 (two years ago)
and I for one don't like it
agents are good at the quid pro quo

west getting stronger this year smh
― k3vin k., Monday, 3 July 2023 17:31 (two years ago)
pretty depressing the nuggs couldn’t make a run at any of these dudes and settled for justin holiday and reggie jackson
― k3vin k., Monday, 3 July 2023 17:33 (two years ago)
idk all things considered none of the signing in that piece jump out as particularly great
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 18:01 (two years ago)
maybe i just don’t get it & i’ll look like a fool in 10 months when these guys are shaq and kobe alley ooping all over other second units but hollinger calls this one of the best benches in the league?? The names: Eric Gordon, Yuta Watanabe, Keita Bates-Diop, Drew Eubanks, Damion Lee, Chimezie Metu and Josh Okogie are all on minimum deals.i’m sorry but…. ??? i don’t doubt they did some ok work to keep their roster more or less afloat in the regular season but did they solve any of the problems we saw in the playoffs? uhhhh
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 18:05 (two years ago)
lol hollinger praising the suns for signing a bunch of minimum guys as if thats not indicative of the whole problem with their team
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 18:05 (two years ago)
all of those guys are actively bad which is why theyre minimum players
― lag∞n, Monday, 3 July 2023 18:06 (two years ago)
hollinger panned the beal trade pretty hard when it happened, I think his point is that they’d put themselves into a tough spot with that deal and they did about as much as they could have since then considering the circumstances
― k3vin k., Monday, 3 July 2023 18:11 (two years ago)
― lag∞n, Monday, July 3, 2023 11:05 AM (five minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink
lol exactly, swapped some names for more names. none of these are guys, just names.
― nobody respects the chair (Spottie), Monday, 3 July 2023 18:12 (two years ago)
I’m just grousing a little, guys like DSJ and bates-diop are the sorts of players I was naively hoping would want to play for the nuggets after what happened last season
― k3vin k., Monday, 3 July 2023 18:13 (two years ago)
what a bizarre roster the suns have
― nobody respects the chair (Spottie), Monday, 3 July 2023 18:19 (two years ago)
yeah maybe he knows something I don't but this seems a bit different than what the Heatles or last year's Lakers did. to me it just looks like they may have a good garbage time lineup
― frogbs, Monday, 3 July 2023 18:32 (two years ago)
watanabe was just in a playoff series where his team needed any help it could get to even be competitive and he played 5 mins in a 20 point game one loss and then got 3 straight DNPs
damion lee averaged 11 mpg in the playoffs and put up 2/1/1 averages on 30/20 shooting
okogie shot 2-14 from three in the playoffs
i'm not up on bates-diop game so maybe he's the skeleton key but he's a 27 year old who has taken 5 total shots in the playoffs in his career
the way even the smart ppl in the NBA media talk about this suns team is farcical
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 18:34 (two years ago)
I misread WME as WWE and was verrrry confused for a second.
― Last of the Mojitos (Leee), Monday, 3 July 2023 18:35 (two years ago)
the idea that the suns & lakers "got better" and now the west is better just highlights to me that the nuggets have a complete cakewalk back to the finals. the warriors are still the only team i'd say w/ any confidence could maybe sorta put up a real fight in the best case scenario but even that feels unlikely. imo it's reminiscent of the big 3 cavs years when they could sleepwalk thru three straight rounds.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 18:42 (two years ago)
We can’t say the Suns might have “won” free agency just yet — to do that, they need at least one of these guys to be a plus next June – but in terms of value for the dollar, this might be some of the best 48 hours we’ve ever seen.
i know hollinger's whole thing since he left front office work is elevating fringes of the roster marginalia to the level of headline transactions but this has to be one of the craziest things written about the NBA in years
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 18:44 (two years ago)
For the frontcourt, Cleveland went after Georges Niang, who might not be worth $26 million over three years on some other rosters but could easily justify it on this one.
this is a great look into front office brain... "this contract is bad for everyone but us"
― J0rdan S., Monday, 3 July 2023 18:49 (two years ago)
lol
