i listened to the windhorst et al pod segment about it and they were talking like it wasnt going to be a very big return for him because of the bad contract age injury history didnt even mention the nets or celtics but did mention the sixers these guys are supposed to be wired right idk, tbf none of them mentioned what they were hearing was all presented as speculation

oh utah too dark horse, but if utahs in splashing around picks why not the other teams

because dame went to college in utah but idk does that mean he wants to go back, i guess it would be the ultimate contrarian move

theres also a rumor that garland is available which talk about a very good young player rare to see a guy like that on the move

one of the problems with trading for dame or garland is that their lineup would be kinda fucked, playing either of them next to white would be pretty dicey just too small

he’s not being traded to utah c’mon now none of us are new here. he’s not going to san antonio either. if he was going to accept a trade to a team like that he’d just stay in portland

agreed that both of those sounds pretty silly, tho utah at least might be good

ppl keep saying philly can offer more than miami & i don’t understand that at all, at best their offer is basically the same — a few picks and a small no defense shooting guard. maxey is a valuable “asset” but a terrible fit in portland this is the exact same issue miami has

i think maxey is prob better thought of than herro but yeah pretty similar, one thing working against miami is their picks arent that desirable cause the teams is always good, also maybe philly can get one more pick than miami can idk pretty speculative they only have one pick right now

a big problem is that the new york teams don’t seem to be willing to lose their shirts for him even tho they could both put together a massive 5 pick style offer. but it doesn’t seem like the knicks are involved at all & if all brooklyn needs to do is beat miami’s offer they don’t need to do all that. but how badly do the nets want him, nobody really knows

the teams that are most motivated to get him — miami, philly, clippers — just don’t have a lot to offer. it’s not a great place for portland to be

i suspect that someone will trump those teams offers but its also possible that for whatever reasons no one will, there are only 30 teams after all

if the clippers were willing to move pg then they might be in the mix

i 100% believe portland is giving him an effective no trade clause i also believe dame doesn’t want people saying that the blazers were forced to take some shitty offer for him. so does dame start expanding his list or does it become one of these things where the league like bands together to get the guy to his team & to get the team save face level assets in return. i kinda feel like it’s gonna be the latter but we’ll see

It's getting very obvious that moving Lillard to a contender for a reasonable return package is not going to happen any time soon. Too many competing interests and not enough flexibility in the CBA to allow all those interests to be smoothly meshed. Most of the available options require either the Blazers or Lillard to be left holding the dirty end of the stick. Thanks, Biden!

hollinger panned the beal trade pretty hard when it happened, I think his point is that they’d put themselves into a tough spot with that deal and they did about as much as they could have since then considering the circumstances

yeah maybe he knows something I don't but this seems a bit different than what the Heatles or last year's Lakers did. to me it just looks like they may have a good garbage time lineup

watanabe was just in a playoff series where his team needed any help it could get to even be competitive and he played 5 mins in a 20 point game one loss and then got 3 straight DNPs

damion lee averaged 11 mpg in the playoffs and put up 2/1/1 averages on 30/20 shooting

okogie shot 2-14 from three in the playoffs

i'm not up on bates-diop game so maybe he's the skeleton key but he's a 27 year old who has taken 5 total shots in the playoffs in his career

the way even the smart ppl in the NBA media talk about this suns team is farcical

I misread WME as WWE and was verrrry confused for a second.

the idea that the suns & lakers "got better" and now the west is better just highlights to me that the nuggets have a complete cakewalk back to the finals. the warriors are still the only team i'd say w/ any confidence could maybe sorta put up a real fight in the best case scenario but even that feels unlikely. imo it's reminiscent of the big 3 cavs years when they could sleepwalk thru three straight rounds.
