there's conflicting reports about whether dame asked for the trade before or after they did the grant deal. i think the blazers see grant as a fit on the wing next to their young guys & think he's now a tradable asset under their control. but maybe that's all a lie and they only did it to appease dame idk

J0rdan S., Thursday, 6 July 2023 21:57 (two years ago)

giving grant a max deal seems insane but also i could see a team thinking it was good so idk

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 July 2023 21:58 (two years ago)

just checked and had no idea he had such a good season. 47/40/82 splits

nobody respects the chair (Spottie), Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:13 (two years ago)

that is nice

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:21 (two years ago)

congrats to klutch sports ceo rich paul

Atlanta Hawks All-Star Dejounte Murray and CEO of Klutch Sports Rich Paul are finalizing a four-year, $120 million veteran maximum extension with the franchise, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Deal includes a player option.

interesting!

J0rdan S., Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:24 (two years ago)

that feels low for him, he must really want to be in atlanta dang. he took the same exact deal as tyler herro. $87m less than desmond bane!

J0rdan S., Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:26 (two years ago)

the wings at Magic City are a major draw iirc

Chyiv Kyiv (Fetchboy), Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:30 (two years ago)

says its his maximum, dejounte probably couldnt get a huge deal based on bird rights bc his original deal was so modest is my guess

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:42 (two years ago)

prob cause its an extension too mb get more if he played his contract out

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:46 (two years ago)

yeah imo the main thing with Dane here is the years and years of clowning on his peers for asking for trades to competitors and then doing exactly that in the narrowest of fashions with an nba finals team. I’m pretty sure he recorded songs about it &c. there’s some ass-showing and hypocrisy of high order here.

Clay, Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:50 (two years ago)

it’s his max from the hawks but he could’ve gotten whatever offer in the UFA market

Wow, I'm surprised. Thought Murray could possibly have made quite a bit more as UFA next summer, but takes the immediate security of the bag instead. New extension rules (40% raise, extra year) helped grease this. https://t.co/8h5w34ZD8B

— John Hollinger (@johnhollinger) July 6, 2023

J0rdan S., Thursday, 6 July 2023 22:52 (two years ago)

yeah id prob just take the $100m+ im kind of conservative like that

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 July 2023 23:13 (two years ago)

he had a major, major injury as a young guy that could have derailed his career, i wonder if that played into him grabbing this extension now

call all destroyer, Friday, 7 July 2023 00:08 (two years ago)

apparently the dillon brooks deal w houston is becoming a fairly complicated multi team trade in which houston is sending out 5 second round picks. one senses the front office there feels like they’re getting fired if they aren’t in the playoff mix this year

THREE second rounders to OKC??? That makes it a total of FIVE second rounders going out in order to facilitate a Brooks S&T that (currently) doesn't even help generate much extra cap room!

This team BETTER make some good use of the extra cap room before the S&T is completed. https://t.co/oOivkD6fhh

— David Weiner (@BimaThug) July 6, 2023

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2023 00:14 (two years ago)

then why are they getting dillon brooks haha

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 00:35 (two years ago)

i mean if you have to go from worst team in the league to in the playoffs in one off-season or lose your job you just have to take an 80 million dollar flyer on the most annoying guy in the league who everybody hates also he isn't very good and you definitely send out some picks to do it, this is common wisdom

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2023 01:07 (two years ago)

PICKS TRADE: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading three second-round picks to the Phoenix Suns for two first-round pick swaps (2024 and 2030) and Isaiah Todd, sources tell ESPN. The seconds are 2025 via Pels, and Memphis’ 2028 and 2029 picks.

damn woj did isaiah todd dirty

k3vin k., Friday, 7 July 2023 01:23 (two years ago)

i still think brooks is a good fit on that houston roster but they’re going thru a lot of trouble to acquire him…

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2023 01:25 (two years ago)

I don’t know if the rockets are going to be good, but I think they should be a fun league pass team this year

k3vin k., Friday, 7 July 2023 02:25 (two years ago)

idk they are less exciting to me than most of the other basement teams

ciderpress, Friday, 7 July 2023 03:23 (two years ago)

orlando and detroit have several more interesting guys than them, spurs are interesting now too obv

ciderpress, Friday, 7 July 2023 03:30 (two years ago)

I don’t know if the rockets are going to be _good_, but I think they should be a fun league pass team this year

Idk man… they’re gonna brick a lot of shots

nobody respects the chair (Spottie), Friday, 7 July 2023 04:05 (two years ago)

I have zero interest in the houston rockets

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2023 04:31 (two years ago)

signing a few real NBA players will actually make them more watchable but that’s my least fav young team in the league… tho amen seems pretty cool actually

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2023 04:38 (two years ago)

pretty baffled by this coachella ass poster for nba con.....like what is jaxson hayes, nick nurse, or "jason of beverly hills" going to be doing exactly?

Report: Blazers seeking 4 1st-round picks and 2 quality players for Damian Lillard https://t.co/KdJfRkr4kD

— NBACentral (@TheNBACentral) July 7, 2023

If Damian Lillard lands with a team other than the Miami Heat, he won't report to training camp, per @MarkG_Medina

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 22:06 (two years ago)

feel like he’s probably bluffing

k3vin k., Friday, 7 July 2023 22:11 (two years ago)

the blazers should hire ainge as a ghost-gm to work this trade out

nobody respects the chair (Spottie), Friday, 7 July 2023 22:12 (two years ago)

poor roll out by dames team they shouldve at least come up with some even shittier trade options than miami, like say hell play for the clippers too, now hes out there looking bad

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 22:14 (two years ago)

like the spurs that was a good idea why did they drop that one the spurs are never gonna trade for him anyway theyre rebuilding

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 22:16 (two years ago)

you couldve put cleveland on the list they dont have any draft picks

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 22:17 (two years ago)

I agree about the bluffing. By not reporting to the team that owns his contract dame would not just forfeit very large sums of money, but he'd also be kicking himself out of the NBA for the duration of his holdout and making it literally impossible for him to pursue success in the playoffs or a championship ring. The longer he held out, the further he'd be from his stated goal. If he were stubborn enough to genuinely end his own career, he'd be shooting himself in both legs. That's not going to happen.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Friday, 7 July 2023 22:18 (two years ago)

has anyone reported on what the actual deal w this guy is???

nobody respects the chair (Spottie), Friday, 7 July 2023 22:18 (two years ago)

yeah thats pretty weird

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 22:23 (two years ago)

guess just the combo of being a terrible defender and having a famously bad attitude will do it, still think hed get more than the min tho

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 22:30 (two years ago)

the 4 firsts and 2 quality players request for dame seems eminently achievable to me if the primary teams involved are miami and brooklyn… combined they can pretty easily make that happen tho i guess the definition of “quality player” is a slippery one. i remain convinced the hold up here is each team trying to stick the other with their bad contracts

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2023 22:39 (two years ago)

the thing that makes me think theyre not close to a deal is how weird team dame is being about it

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 22:43 (two years ago)

out of nowhere trades do happen in the NBA so i don’t wanna put too much stock in this thought, but it is interesting to me, given how much of this is playing out in the media, that there hasn’t been any reporting (that i’ve seen) about a team actually stepping up and trying to acquire dame. everyone seems to think that half the league could beat miami’s offer… but does it seem like any team really wants to? there’s been far more reporting on teams being happy to jump in and take herro than there has been on a team looking at this stalemate & trying to pry dame away from miami

the spurs & jazz stuff is transparently ridiculous, the idea that anyone would take those ideas seriously is hysterical to me. you’ve got kevin o connor on twitter talking about how dame goes back to utah every summer for a basketball camp. uh huh. meanwhile the other “contending” teams ppl have thrown out there like philly & the clippers don’t seem to be involved at all. maybe this is dame’s posturing at work — in which case good for him — but i also wonder if the appetite for acquiring dame’s contract at a major asset price is far lesser around the league than everyone wants to believe

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2023 22:50 (two years ago)

yeah i think theres def a chance that for whatever reasons the teams that could make a big offer for him just arent interested in doing so

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2023 22:53 (two years ago)

but it only takes one
