right, so he'll scale right up to playing 85-90 games during their deep playoff run next year

for nuggets reasons, nurkic going to the suns is the biggest heel turn possible and I will enjoy rooting against him, but I do think he can be a championship piece if he stays on the court

i'm just saying the stuff i assume the suns' FO is telling itself, i don't see nurk doubling his work load or anchoring a porous and weird perimeter defense which the latter is honestly laughable xp

i feel like on the defensive end a lot is going to be asked of whoever plays center for the suns… i don’t see nurkic being up to that task. when it comes to high level playoff games aren’t they just going to be playing small and switching everything? they need a mobile athletic big. it just feels like a bad fit to me.

occurs to me that this new bucks team matches up pretty well with the nuggs

nuggs d is vulnerable to guys like lillard see devin booker, and theyve got a bunch of good to great big men defenders to throw at joker, tho tbf its unclear if he can be defended at this point

i don't see many flaws in the bucks starting group. they may be able to address the 5th role/connaughton spot at some point down the line. but when you're knocking middletown down a peg from "we really need you to score 25 a game" to basically the role that MPJ plays alongside jokic/murray and then asking lopez to just make threes and rebound... that feels really strong to me. it doesn't even feel like they need much more shooting out of the fifth spot given that middleton and lopez will be playing off the ball a ton.

i guess on defense they will be weak at the point of attack but lopez and giannis are about as good of a backstop as you could come up with. we also have not really seen a version of the bucks defense where giannis is used as a 1 on 1 stopper on the other team's best player... i don't think they'll have much of a choice now that they've swapped out holiday for lillard. it's also possible that their defense hits a new level even w/ the defensive downgrade at PG if adrian griffin is willing to be more flexible than bud was

seems like just about every contender in both conferences is in the mix on that one so that makes sense. my question is whether jrue tries to influence where he goes at all

he easily could influence his destination by hinting who'd be more likely to re-sign him after his current contract year expires

yeah jrue is the type of player everyone can use, and hes famously well liked

hes also 33 with a history of very bad playoff offense and will be eligible for a huge extension next year

i would not be stoked to trade 2 firsts and a guy for jrue, unless maybe hes willing to sign some sort of much less than max extension

he's a very curious player. on the one hand he feels like a picture of steadiness who fits on any contender; on the other hand he has some of the most memorably bad & humiliating playoff performances of the last several years. but also some of the biggest boss plays in the most high leverage moments/games as well. just a very perplexing combination

in 40 playoff games with the bucks his shooting splits were 39/30/75. even given all the ways he contributes, that's really pushing the limit

his career playoff shooting numbers are propped up by some hot shooting in playoff games with philly when he was 20 and 21 years old. if you look at just new orleans and milwaukee (last 10 seasons) he's shooting 41/30 in 49 playoff games

depends on what you're going to believe, his stats or his legend?

if the blazers get 2 firsts and a guy for jrue that's a haul of 3 firsts, 2 2 swaps, ayton and a guy for lillard. better than i would've guessed back in summer and obv way better than what miami was offering

don't forget it's for a package of lillard, nurkic, and some other guys, so we're also out from under nurk's contract. not too shabby.

felt like Jrue is really hot and cold when it comes to shooting, you either get 65% with several circus shots or 20% where he's clanking open 3s until he just stops taking them. unfortunately a lot of the latter in the playoffs but his regular season shooting numbers with Milwaukee were pretty good

if you got him on a team with a lot of offensive firepower he might be better but then why are you paying him so much to be a defensive specialist

not sure if cronin’s being there or not is germane to whether the haul is better or not, but it’s an argument for his sticking around that his plan worked out rather than just being the guy who caved xps
