i do think there is a distinction between lowe suffering brain damage from trying to sincerely engage with perk or even a lightweight like chiney ogwunike, and windhorst sideyeing lakers fixation. the latter is just being a good midwesterner.

since the mavs started losing this is what nba media is doing now, good luck fellas

amazing that perk is such a prominent broadcaster, considering it's been apparent since his playing days that he's one of the dumbest people who ever came through the league

the defenestration of prog (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 6 March 2024 17:32 (eight months ago) link

tbf being a dumb guy is an extremely common and popular mode for sports talkers

lag∞n, Wednesday, 6 March 2024 17:34 (eight months ago) link

I listened to sports talk radio for the vast majority of the last 20 years of driving, but recently cut almost all of it out and its been such a relief not being bombarded by such stupidity all the time. I can't believe I did this to myself all these years.

finally dawned on zach lowe that kd despite crazy regular season numbers isnt the player he once was, he even referenced that celtics-nets series, which was two years ago for the record

lag∞n, Sunday, 17 March 2024 18:05 (eight months ago) link

yeah i heard that from lowe too. kd's stats are still efficient, but by the eye test it's pretty clear he's lost a step. He's also playing the 5th most minutes per game in the league, one of many hard-to-defend suns decisions from the past year

“This is like two wine masters, sommeliers, talking about wine, not necessarily you or me arguing if I like Burgundy or Bordeaux better,” said Carter, the co-founder and CEO of Uninterrupted.

...

In one clip from the forthcoming podcast, viewed by The Athletic, the setting is very casual, with the hosts drinking red wine and talking in great detail about how to guard a pick play.

its a wine podcast

bontemps: wolves could give nugs trouble in the playoffs, kings could give wolves trouble

pick one man

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 15:27 (seven months ago) link

as I’ve said before, the wolves are the one team I’d love to be on the other side of the bracket from. they match up really well with denver with their size and great wing defense; murray’s struggled in particular vs this version of the team. I do think ultimately denver will be favored and will have the talent/coaching/best player advantage, but I’ve got a healthy respect for the wolves for sure. the win yesterday wasn’t pretty but if it helps for tiebreaker/home court purposes I’ll take it every time

brony james (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 20 March 2024 15:46 (seven months ago) link

i dont respect the wolves no offense and the kat situation basically makes it impossible for them to win a playoff series v the nugs anyway

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 15:55 (seven months ago) link

okc is the team thats a threat to denver theyve played them well nugs will have a hard time defending shai and theyre just good

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 15:56 (seven months ago) link

if you really wanted to game it paranoid style you would want to be on the same side of the draw as the wolves to take advantage of the kat return timetable

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 15:58 (seven months ago) link

classic moment on the pod today w/ windhorst claiming that the nuggets-wolves game effectively ended w/ a few mins left and bontemps and mcmahon pointing out that the game actually went down to the final shot which forced windhorst to sheepishly admit that he turned the game off w/ 15 seconds left and actually had no idea that things went haywire and ant got a game tying buzzer beater attempt off

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 20 March 2024 15:59 (seven months ago) link

i just don't think a team w/ OKC's frontline can be legitimately competitive in a series vs jokic where they're gonna have to contend w/ 40 mins a night each from jokic and gordon

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:01 (seven months ago) link

obvs joker is a huge advantage gordon is whatever, but joker is unstoppable anyway, they have the personnel to slow down the rest of the nugs, and they can score a lot too if thats what it takes, and they can make joker work on d

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:05 (seven months ago) link

yeah gonna have to disagree w/ you there on gordon. the nuggets use him very effectively against smaller players in the playoffs. they murdered the heat specifically w/ him. jalen williams gives up three inches and 40+ pounds to gordon, dort is 4 inches shorter and 15-20 pounds lighter. it's not an incidental advantage for denver.

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:08 (seven months ago) link

and the other guy has to guard MPJ giving up half a foot in height. size is a major reason why denver is hard to beat and OKC is a pretty small team

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:10 (seven months ago) link

gordon is effective because he plays with jokic full stop, jokic is the issue

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:10 (seven months ago) link

i mean were talking about a guy who cant shoot on a normal team he would be very easy to deal with

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:11 (seven months ago) link

thats why i think okc and a lot of teams will prob play joker straight up let him get his while mixing in some other coverage and then prob going to more doubles late in the game its kinda the best you can do

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:13 (seven months ago) link

ok i'm not trying to have a discussion about the true value of aaron gordon as a player. what i am saying is that if you are a team trying to pass 6' 5" guys off as power forwards while playing switchy defense against this nuggets team, they are going to put gordon in the post and bludgeon you to death. this is not a theory of mine they have demonstrated the ability to do this in high level playoff games

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtQWt_6F4xI

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:15 (seven months ago) link

if aaron gordon, a guy who gets most of his point waiting around in the dunker spot for joker double teams, beats you with post ups so be it, it wouldnt be on the list of things im worried about if im playing the nugs

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:19 (seven months ago) link

i mean he had a good series vs the heat but that not really his typical level

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:20 (seven months ago) link

i would be totally happy to have gordon posting up jdub thats a win for okc

lag∞n, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 16:22 (seven months ago) link
