There’s gonna be a lot of big moves this offseason I think

I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Tuesday, 30 April 2024 04:58 (one month ago) link

New Orleans Pelicans, welcome to the offs eason too. Sorry that you have to play Farrah Fawcett to the famous Lakers of Los Angeles

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 05:07 (one month ago) link

what can lebron really do it's quite the conundrum

Clay, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 05:17 (one month ago) link

brony james (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 30 April 2024 05:24 (one month ago) link

there is not an obvious pick here, he could always say fuck it round 3 in cleveland and thatd be fun. knicks would be fun but i think thibs would murder him with 40 mpg. gs might lure him to their retirement home with the promise of free tech stocks. or maybe he really will go to whomever drafts bronny and suffer in utah or something, i mean d wade kinda owns part of the team.

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Tuesday, 30 April 2024 05:26 (one month ago) link

but the real answer is spurs, he'd be great with wemby

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Tuesday, 30 April 2024 05:27 (one month ago) link

confirmed

Clay, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 05:53 (one month ago) link

He needs Trae by his side in LA

Heez, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 11:29 (one month ago) link

Maybe consider Milwaukee

frogbs, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 12:04 (one month ago) link

Would he make sense in Philly? I think he would, but doubt that's the kind of market or team he is looking for.

il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Tuesday, 30 April 2024 12:58 (one month ago) link

it would be cool for him to play for a year on whatever team drafts his son, unfortunately I just don't think Bronny is good enough. he could be the next Thanasis I guess

frogbs, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 14:23 (one month ago) link

he was considered a legit nba prospect before the heart attack theres a chance he could get back there but proving it in college would be good

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 14:40 (one month ago) link

it seems like even putting that aside, draft media got way over their skis on bronny. he’s like an avery bradley type but even worse at offense

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 30 April 2024 15:22 (one month ago) link

i mean its a nice story for them, getting drafted off yr name then face planting in the nba wouldnt be as pleasant

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 15:25 (one month ago) link

I wonder if someone will be willing to burn a second rounder if it's a package deal with LeBron

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 30 April 2024 15:39 (one month ago) link

i think someone for sure would, does bron want to do it idk seems like a weird sitch

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 15:42 (one month ago) link

like is bron willing to make the midlevel instead of $50m seems like probably not, in that case youre looking at a trade to get him somewhere else which isnt that easy, would the lakers take bronny in the second round to make bron happy, it does seem like a lakers type thing to do, except that they havent really been on board with gm lebron so idk, him staying in la and not playing with bronny seems like the most likely outcome, but also bron obvs has not been afraid of big moves in the past so maybe hell do it again

maybe the sixers will draft bronny and sign bron the ultimate morey caper

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 15:48 (one month ago) link

it's an interesting situation because despite being really old for an NBA player his numbers haven't really dropped off nor has he gotten hurt, feel like he could be really good in a 3rd banana role where he plays 25-30 MPG for another 3 years

frogbs, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 16:53 (one month ago) link

its crazy how good he still is dont think anyone has retired while being this good before no idea how long it will before hes retirement quality

jordan doesnt count since he came back

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 17:08 (one month ago) link

Including playoffs and regular season…

LeBron in Year 2: averaged 27, 7 and 7
LeBron in Year 10: averaged 27, 8 and 7
LeBron in Year 16: averaged 27, 8 and 8
LeBron in Year 21: averaged 26, 7 and 8

It’s just absurd.

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 30 April 2024 17:14 (one month ago) link

it's pretty wild that he's still figured out a way to get those numbers since his athleticism *has* dropped off, starting around the time he joined the Lakers. though to be fair during his peak years he was doing shit I didn't even know human beings were capable of.

frogbs, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 17:23 (one month ago) link

he got that three point shot figured out this year, if thats sustained that will keep him going even longer

I agree with the Inside guys’ take that they should change the rule that if the second challenge is successful, you should retain the timeout even if you can no longer challenge. However, even if that WERE the rule it was a dumb challenge bc it was far from clear that it would be successful and losing the timeout could be disastrous as it indeed turned out to be. And with the rule what it actually is, it was an inarguably bad decision

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 21:49 (one month ago) link

i have a proposal: if okc does not win the title this year, they should trade for kevin durant

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Wednesday, 1 May 2024 15:41 (one month ago) link

People often want OKC to push all their chips in on a big star. But they already have three potential max-level players with SGA, Jalen Williams, and Chet. Adding another star doesn't seem helpful.

Feels like they can just keep adding supporting players via the draft and trades.

The Hayward trade was mostly to free up salary to allow them to keep their players who need extending this summer - Josh Giddey, Aaron Wiggins, and Isaiah Joe.

aphoristical, Wednesday, 1 May 2024 22:18 (one month ago) link

we'll see how the playoffs play out but i agree with you. better off getting depth to be more flexible with their lineups and play style.

I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Wednesday, 1 May 2024 22:19 (one month ago) link

Even if they crash and burn in the semis, the season's been a success for the Thunder. But it might feel like a waste of a season where the chips are falling - they're going to be playing the second round with a week's rest advantage against a team with injury concerns to their star.

They also have Ousmane Dieng waiting in the wings. He's still raw but might have the potential to add some options to the bench as a stretch 5 and scorer.

aphoristical, Wednesday, 1 May 2024 22:26 (one month ago) link

You can always count on them to trade for a huge contract (that is expiring soon and comes with free picks).

let us all now rubberneck at some of the interesting takes of mat ishbia in phx postmortem presser

Five in the next eight years, we have a first-round draft pick. I know that's not a cool thing to say out there because people like to say their narratives that we have no draft picks, but we have five in the next eight years and we can trade two of 'em next month if we want. So it is not like people say we have no flexibility.

Let's be real -- ask the other 29 GMs, 26 of them would trade their whole team for our whole team and our draft picks as is," Ishbia said. "The house is not on fire. We're in a great position. It's not hard to fix. We have enough talent to win a championship.

You look back at some of the trades that James and all of us were part of -- we do those things a 100 out of a 100 times, not 99 out of a 100, a 100 out of a 100," Ishbia said. "And we still do 'em again. And I think the other 29 GMs would all do the exact same thing. We feel great about the moves we've made on the court, off the court and we're really proud of it.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 2 May 2024 03:57 (one month ago) link

oh boy

symsymsym, Thursday, 2 May 2024 03:58 (one month ago) link

who are the three GMs that wouldn't trade places with Phoenix

I was pretty convinced he was a guy who does a lot of coke when I first heard him simmons pod last year and I stand by my assessment

brony james (k3vin k.), Thursday, 2 May 2024 04:55 (one month ago) link

I assume he meant Boston, Denver, and OKC, though he probably wasn't thinking down to that level of specificity
