I understand that complaining about late inside has just been pissing into the wind for like a decade now. but we’re talking about a moment where there’s an actual chance things get shaken up. the show is obviously not getting better, and will just continue to get worse. now seems like a good time to appreciate the good times and move on

is this version of inside really worth preserving? why?

bcuz it's roughly 500000x more entertaining than anything else basketball related on TV aside from the games and if shaq is annoying sometimes it's ok i just change the channel and come back in a few minutes

for the record here’s a great hack I learned: you don’t actually have to listen to the studio shows. good chance to use the bathroom, make some food, post on ilx etc

ftr I wasn't super upset about the Shaq thing I just thought it was dumb and oafish, which I guess it's to say it's Shaq

shaq has always been bad at his job but hes been noticeably weird this yeah he seems angry frustrated hes been making a bunch of odd sexual innuendoes on air, trying to make jokers mvp interview about himself, looking at the stat sheet of a game and saying i dont who this is but he had a good game

maybe hes just letting his freak flag fly knowing that the show is prob gonna be canceled

sometimes shaq gets chuck going in a good way, more often than not he is a bottleneck for conversation and a buffoon. show is not perfect, i still enjoy watching it, and i shudder at the thought of what amazon or nbc's attempts at studio programming will be

i still watch inside its the best nba show but its a shadow of its former self

i think that's a fair assessment. most tv shows w/ this lifespan can only be really good for so long

the difference is that when a normal tv show falls off there's other good tv to watch instead. there is no other good post game basketball programming to watch

actually scott van pelt on sportscenter after games is pretty good usually. him and tim legler do good film breadown segments, it's def the kinda entertaining but smart programming that people want to see on tv. but you're only getting like 10-15 mins before he moves on to other sports etc

the van pelt sports center is good, im sure its not easy to make a good sports talk show but it is possible, as to whether the desire is there doesnt seem like it

SVP is my go to sports show now. i watch some inside still but its not must watch any more for me. the gap between those two and anything else on the national media landscape is massive. espn really should just be trying anything new just throw caution to the wind and see what works. i liked that tnt gave KG that weird segment a few years ago... even tho it didnt really work. but just more stuff in the spirit of that experiment.

we should be on year ~20 of payton and c webb but they just didnt want us to have nice things.

commentator pet peeve theyre way too quick to say a guy is "down" "injured" its disturbing and the guy is usually not really down or injured last nights game ian eagle said chet was down holding his head and chet ran into view before he was finished

for someone who is supposed to be like a controversial loose cannon i found him to be really devoid of personality or energy on that broadcast. even his needling of gobert was pretty low wattage

hes still a player and has to face these guys im sure he doesnt want to go full draymond until after hes retired

maybe that’s part of it. i more so mean that barkley is a showman, he has a presence on TV. shaq for all his faults had plenty of experience doing on camera entertainment by the time he retired. draymond is committing the worst sin which is being boring. but maybe it would get better over time
