Drafting Bronny is just a ploy to get the Thanassis for Bryce. Nothing to actually do with Lebron.

lebron getting his podcast partner hired as coach would be so funny, it would be the crowning off-court achievement of his career

Brian Windhorst said NBA executives were sending him the famous "now why is that?" meme of himself after LeBron showed up at the Cavs-Celtics game in Cleveland last night. pic.twitter.com/JFSatt6XTU

lebron showed up to the cavs game to threaten them into hiring redick as coach. this is so obvious

"The Jazz have expressed interest in bringing Bronny in for an individual workout and could be interested in him with the 32nd pick, sources told Yahoo Sports," Peek wrote. "The franchise has been patiently rebuilding behind the leadership of Danny Ainge, and bringing in Bronny with the hopes of luring a superstar like LeBron could be the jump owner Ryan Smith is looking for to add a spark to the Jazz."

Ryan Smith on crack

"The biggest message I want you to hear is that I would coach this team if it was on the moon," Budenholzer said, grinning. "I would coach this team if it was in Alaska. If these players were in Denmark. ... I would go anywhere to coach this team."

The Thunder should draft Zach Edey.

Addresses their need for size. Adds a totally different interior ingredient to their offense. And if there’s anyone who can turn his touch into reliable 3-point shooting it’s Chip Engelland. Edey in OKC is a perfect fit.

gm lebron is back baby

Bronny James was the biggest story at the combine, at least outside the building, and that storyline got another boost Wednesday when Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James sat with his GM Rob Pelinka to watch his son perform. Technically, the rules say LeBron shouldn’t have been at the event, since it’s supposed to be for front-office personnel and agents only.

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 15:36 (four weeks ago) link

heh

Bronny, meanwhile showed some of the same traits we saw at USC: An inability to gain separation off the dribble or get into the paint, and a limited ability to leverage his straight-line speed and one-leg leaping ability in the run of play. James hit two 3-pointers in the second game and made two floaters in the first, but over the course of his two days, he shot 6 of 18 with four rebounds, two assists and four turnovers. He was 2 of 9 on 3-pointers and 3 of 5 from the free-throw line.

James also measured just 6-foot-1 1/2 inches in socks; between that and his inability to get anywhere off the dribble, finding a pro position for him will be tough. His strong frame, 6-7 wingspan and 32-inch no-step vertical give him a chance to play bigger than his height, although we haven’t seen much evidence of it in his game tape yet.

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 15:37 (four weeks ago) link

sure sounds like he's not an nba player

ciderpress, Sunday, 19 May 2024 15:41 (four weeks ago) link

hollinger says later in the piece that bronnys the type of guy who could maybe get a two way contract so yeah borderline at best

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 15:45 (four weeks ago) link

the whole wild health scare last year makes the bronny thing so much weirder

circles, Sunday, 19 May 2024 15:48 (four weeks ago) link

he rly should not stay in this draft

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Sunday, 19 May 2024 17:12 (four weeks ago) link

I don't think another year in college is going to make him any taller

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Sunday, 19 May 2024 17:13 (four weeks ago) link

yeah seems like he just doesnt have the stuff question is if he wants to play on the lakers with his dad, his dad wants him to maybe he will do it to be nice to his dad

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 17:19 (four weeks ago) link

Realistically, Bronny could be the 50th best player of his age in the entire world and even though that would make him an amazingly gifted athlete he still wouldn't be any better than a two-way contract player in the NBA.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Sunday, 19 May 2024 17:30 (four weeks ago) link

He should go play in Europe or China imo

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Sunday, 19 May 2024 17:37 (four weeks ago) link

Then again, does he really love basketball or is he just appeasing his annoying dad

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Sunday, 19 May 2024 17:39 (four weeks ago) link

being on the lakers is a rare experience its showtime baby the best of the best if youre into that sort of thing, its prob less appealing to bronny than yr average nba prospect tho considering hes already rich and famous, his dad would be on the team (maybe he would like that idk feel like for most guys it would be a con), thered be a ton of media scrutiny about whether hes good enough or just riding his dads coattails, hes not good enough, could turn into a disaster

returning to college on the other hand hes big man on campus, still rich and famous but not intense espn scrutiny levels, gets to have fun at college with his pals, is good enough at basketball

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 17:56 (four weeks ago) link

seems like hes gonna do it tho

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 18:01 (four weeks ago) link

maybe he just wants to get it over with

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Sunday, 19 May 2024 18:05 (four weeks ago) link

i think on the recent hollinger-duncan pod, nate was comping bronny to jevon carter or a player like that. a back up 2 guard whose value comes from athleticism, hustle, smarts, defense and who, if it’s working, can shoot and do just enough on offense to keep himself afloat. makes sense to me. he does seem to have some genuine athletic tools despite being short, he just isn’t very skilled

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 19 May 2024 18:19 (four weeks ago) link

i’m thinking of a player like miles mcbride… 6 foot 1 guard who was the 38th pick. was up and down between the NBA and g league for 2 years before breaking out once he could consistently hit threes. prob not ever gonna be a long term starter but can clearly be an important role player on a good team. ofc most guys like this wash out or are even more fringe roster guys than mcbride but you can at least envision a role for a player w/ bronny’s skillset

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 19 May 2024 18:23 (four weeks ago) link

mcbride was much better in college tho. bronny needs to go to a not overly great college team where he can get a lot of reps w the ball in his hands but it seems like he will go the opposite direction (go pro and never be good enough to deserve ball handling reps)

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 19 May 2024 18:24 (four weeks ago) link

if he could learn to shoot as good as mcbride hed prob be on to something, most guys cant do it tho

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 18:32 (four weeks ago) link

for sure & there is a certain level of anonymity that let’s you develop for 2 years without fans or the press really caring at all that bronny will never be afforded. he’d be playing in some of the most publicly scrutinized g league games ever

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 May 2024 18:37 (three weeks ago) link

listened to a pod two guys who were college players speculating about why foreign players are dominating the nba at the mvp candidate level and they both agreed that theres too much emphasis on skill development kinda for its own sake isolated from the larger game your drew hanlen type situations, idk about that i think it might just be a flukey thing where you happen to have four really good foreign born players, shai from canada doesnt count, and in the european system they do tons of skill development tho its with their teams so maybe thats different, but embiid came up through the us prep-college system, giannis played on a small time euro team, luka played at the heart of the euro system in madrid, jokic stayed in serbia but still high level

kind burying the lead here the thing the mentioned thats pretty obvious but interesting is all those guy are huge and strong, american guys are too skinny lol, too much body fat measuring maybe its hard to be huge and lean

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 May 2024 13:57 (three weeks ago) link

maybe theres a distinction between skill development like working with a trainer on you side step three and working with your team doing drills to help you make in game reads, that makes sense

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 May 2024 14:00 (three weeks ago) link

can see a difference in how euro bigs develop all around games with on ball skills, shooting, etc while american guards still dominate as superior shooters
