the reason they got no picks is the same reason they turned down two picks at the deadline, which is that the owner values present players over future picks

they made the butler trade on draft day that year, getting two players and one future pick they used that night. the vuc trade was young talent and future picks for present. even derozan was a sign and trade w/ a future first involved. one connecting thread is ownership

granted all that to not get one of okc’s bad firsts as a throw-in still feels like malpractice

Seems like a great team deal

been scouting the draft (watching youtubes) and i think this is gonna be one of those years where the best player goes in the middle of the draft, teams at the top talking themselves into guys even they admit dont have star potential sarr clingan castle then there are bunch of flawed ballers who will go later topic ware holland one of who will end up not actually being flawed

reed sheppard is pretty fascinating hes small with short arms but on the other hand hes one of the best shooters ever coming into the draft has elite feel for the game and is super athletic, one weird thing is youd expect him to have a better handle maybe he can still get there idk

if he had a better handle ability to break his man down you could see the vision but if hes not a great creator idk maybe he can do steph stuff where his three is so dangerous that it opens things up for him but thats asking a lot

i havent factored in the kentucky guard tax tho maybe hell win mvp

some people saying hes not that athletic but he measured a 42" vert at the combine and averaged 3.2 stocks idk what people want guess maybe his lateral movement on d isnt that great

possible that his shooting a lil overrated since he took a bunch of open catch and shoots where youd like to see more movement and off the dribble shots but on the other hand he shot 52% from three and his shot is very quick and looks perfect

i resubscribed to th3 athl3tic just so i could read the vecenie's draft guide. he ranks guys in tiers (1-7) with 1 being all-nba, 2 being all-star, etc. most drafts have 3-4 guys in the top two tiers, this year there are none. handful of tier 3 ("high leverage starters") and a lot of guys in the tier 4 ("starter/all-star tool swings"). so yeah, this is kinda like 2013 where giannis at 15 was the best guy (definitely a "tool swing" guy if there ever was).
