less than the warriors offer that insulted him last year

lag∞n, Monday, 1 July 2024 18:34 (one week ago) link

Are more details available for the sign-and-trade?

Rip so sad man

I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Monday, 1 July 2024 18:41 (one week ago) link

taking less was offset by the chance to win a fifth championship with the Mavs as well as the difference in state taxes.

players really hate state taxes lol

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 1 July 2024 18:57 (one week ago) link

a completed concept

The sign-and-trade framework that will ultimately send Klay Thompson to Dallas has a completed concept that would send Josh Green to Charlotte, sources said, but what goes back to the Warriors has not yet been finalized. Three years, $50 million was most Mavericks could offer.

I'm guessing it's Davis Bertans and a second rounder lol

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 1 July 2024 18:59 (one week ago) link

if the warriors dont get a first out of this whats even the point of doing it

Warriors and Mavericks still working through details of sign-and-trade, which includes Hornets sending the Mavericks two second-round picks for Josh Green, sources tell ESPN. One of those picks could end up in Golden State. Thompson will land in Dallas on the three-year deal.

yeah, no sense in helping a rival like this if they are really trying to win something this year

Drafting bronny oh wait.

Ella Minnow Picaresque (Leee), Monday, 1 July 2024 19:31 (one week ago) link

LeBron is supposedly going to take less money so the Lakers can get a midlevel free agent but who's going to be left?

apparently hes not going to do that anymore since there arent any FAs good enough to merit that

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Monday, 1 July 2024 19:38 (one week ago) link

lol

that was the only way the bronny thing made sense, if you were essentially burning a low draft pick in exchange for cap flexibility

demar i guess

Add DeMar DeRozan to the list of players whom LeBron James wants the Los Angeles Lakers to target in free agency.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported DeRozan is also among the players whom James would take a pay cut to play with.

"I think there's more than three," Windhorst said on the Hoop Collective podcast. "I think DeMar DeRozan is on that list as well. And there may be another one or so."

Dave McMenamin of ESPN previously reported James would take a pay cut if it meant the Lakers could land James Harden, Klay Thompson or Jonas Valančiūnas. Harden (Los Angeles Clippers) and Valančiūnas (Washington Wizards) have already agreed to sign elsewhere, while Thompson could command more than the $12.9 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception.

lag∞n, Monday, 1 July 2024 19:40 (one week ago) link

no reason for him to take the midlevel tho

Ella Minnow Picaresque (Leee), Monday, 1 July 2024 20:03 (one week ago) link

dont understand why he says the warriors need this deal to happen, unless dallas makes it worth their while by sending value back seems like itd be better for them to let klay walk and clear his salary

lag∞n, Monday, 1 July 2024 20:07 (one week ago) link

i guess theyre still going to be able to clear his salary, getting this deal done just assures that they get some picks as compensation, especially if they are going hord in the paint for lauri

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Monday, 1 July 2024 20:09 (one week ago) link

they have to take salary back if they trade him, regardless they dont need to get the deal done

lag∞n, Monday, 1 July 2024 20:14 (one week ago) link

maybe thats where charlotte comes in they just take the salary into their cap space

lag∞n, Monday, 1 July 2024 20:19 (one week ago) link

warriors really want to back up the truck for lauri idk

lag∞n, Monday, 1 July 2024 20:21 (one week ago) link

on the one hand they will be better with lauri (and melton!) over klay, on the other hand how good is that and how barren will they be after dealing with ainge

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Monday, 1 July 2024 20:25 (one week ago) link

ainge is looking at the bridges trade and thinking it looks pretty good

lag∞n, Monday, 1 July 2024 20:33 (one week ago) link

farewell poku

This is up in the air pending structure, but I've got the Charlotte Hornets likely creating about $19M in cap space to take in Josh Green and Reggie Jackson.

This would involve waiving Aleksej Pokusevski, while keeping Miles Bridges' cap hold.

<$1M in cap space after trades.

PG to philly is the perfect sixers era morey move in that people can talk about how he flipped this asset for that asset and then got this other asset meanwhile the pot at the end of the rainbow is a 34 year old with a checkered playoff history and nobody seems convinced that they're even that much closer to a title, relatively speaking

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 2 July 2024 17:12 (six days ago) link

knicks roster still feels pretty incomplete to me w/ hartenstein leaving. they're gonna need to find a starting center by the trade deadline imo, i think this past year showed that even when robinson is healthy you want another borderline starter behind him. right now i think they could fall into the t wolves trap of building a team specifically to win one match up but then running into a different match up that they can't counter

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 2 July 2024 17:17 (six days ago) link

that might be true, but I don’t think the east is deep enough for it to matter like it may have for the wolves

brony james (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 2 July 2024 17:43 (six days ago) link

knicks can always play small re matchups both randle and og are pretty hefty dudes, robinsons health is obvs a concern but carrying two starting quality centers isnt really a thing in todays nba, regardless the knicks dont have the resources to do it, robinson and sims seems fine + they can pick up a cheap third/second string guy

lag∞n, Tuesday, 2 July 2024 17:55 (six days ago) link

saric might be nice for them

robinson and randle aren’t trustworthy to me for both health and talent reasons if you’re really trying to get thru 4 playoff rounds

in a series where the knicks can play a lot of small ball they should match up great — we know who they are trying to beat here. k3vin is saying he doesn’t see any teams in the east who can capitalize on the way the knicks are built, i don’t agree. philly and milwaukee come to mind as major east opponents w/ front lines that i think could give a team whose biggest guys are OG, bridges, randle, and robinson trouble. it’s not an unsolvable problem by any stretch but imo they’re playing w/ fire if they think their bases are covered w/ this roster construction
