Even with only 5 players on their team, they're probably going to finish 2nd in the East behind Detroit.

I think the real question is will the 2007-2008 Minnesota Timberwolves be the worst NBA team of all time?
― Clay, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 04:20 (eighteen years ago)
the sonics are going to be bad too but maybe not 'worst all time' bad

doesnt it seem like boston got rid of a bunch of good young players w/this deal? i mean idk, mb garnett is all it takes in that division~
― cankles, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 07:12 (eighteen years ago)
boston gave up 1 v good young player and 1 good draft pick. now if they can get some good role players w/their exemptions and stay healthy... IT IS ON !!!
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 13:14 (eighteen years ago)
its a pretty amazing deal for boston. especially considering they were going to give minnesota all that plus the 5 pick before garnett nixed them. Then they got allen and garnett.

(do you guys get charged per keystroke to post or something? it's kind of annoying tbh idk mb kwim?)
McHale doesn't have a clue how to be a GM. He passed up far better offers from the Bulls in recent years for Garnett. He could've had Deng, Chandler, and Tyrus Thomas plus another pick, was one scenario, I think. Celts look good on paper, but we shall see. There may not be enough basketballs for the Big 3 to be happy (though KG doesn't strike me as *needing* to be the focus, and I could see Ray Allen happily settle into a 3rd option/outside marksman esp since he's on the downside of his career). The 3 of them will be playing A LOT of minutes, so it'll be interesting to see how they hold up and fare in the playoffs against a young, deep, hungry squad like Chicago. Definitely raises the bar in the East and puts the pressure on the rest of the contenders to make a move for someone like Gasol.

these dudes games will form like voltron. srsly perfectly suited to each other. its all abt adding role players and staying healthy now. and firing doc right away - we only got 2-3 year window.
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 08:35 (eighteen years ago)
they look pretty happy, no?
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 08:36 (eighteen years ago)
At the press conference they seemed pretty comfortable with each other. Jefferson already has 3 years service (the problem with slow developing HS draft picks) so if he doesn't like Minny he doesn't have to stick around. The bench is thin and PG/C is a big concern but the Celts still have some roster slots to fill.

Minnesota should take some of those dudes and swing them for some vets.

Rumors of Reggie Miller to the Celtics ... would he be the sixth man, or could they possibly play Pierce, Allen, and Miller at the same time?
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 18:45 (eighteen years ago)
Whoa, what? Reggie Miller unretiring to play with the CELTICS? Is this a joke?
― forksclovetofu, Thursday, 23 August 2007 20:52 (eighteen years ago)
At this point, the best way to get to the championship series is to join a moderately good team in the Eastern Conference and waltz in. With Garnett and Pierce, Miller probably sees his best chance to get his shot at a ring. Once you're in the big dance, all it takes is an injury to the other team's star player... well, he can still dream can't he?
― Aimless, Thursday, 23 August 2007 22:06 (eighteen years ago)
K so no Miller time, but C's signed James Posey, so they officially have a role player. Wouldn't he be coming off the bench since Pierce plays 3 and Allen 2? Or does Pierce play 4, too, and they could put Posey in at 3? Either way, mad decent.

Who is the backup point guard on that team? Do they even have one? Other than Rondo, all their other guards seem to be shooting guards.
