it's crazy. the miami vice stuff was EVERYWHERE in miami in the years they were wearing those uniforms. i've never seen the city so blanketed in miami sports apparel like that. it helped that it was timed w/ the jimmy era reenergizing the fanbase but that motif is just such a direct bullseye for how people even in miami imagine the city in their mind's eye -- essentially a collective synesthesia. it provoked a civic pride in people that transcended rooting for the basketball team
