k3vin k., Thursday, 14 April 2016 17:58 (nine years ago)

ya feel like obvs home court means something but if all the teams are tied u cant really say theres a true favorite

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:00 (nine years ago)

generally 4-5 is a tossup anyway

historical cakewalk def

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:15 (nine years ago)

there was some series a few years ago that had like a 20pt margin cant remember

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:16 (nine years ago)

very refreshing to see eight reasonably good teams coming out of the east

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:20 (nine years ago)

tru

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:21 (nine years ago)

yeah man east could be fun

Better Pau Gasol (Spottie), Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:22 (nine years ago)

imo east has 6-7 good teams (depending on how you feel about the pacers) and the west has 5-6 good teams (depending on how you feel about the mavs). but the west has 4 of the 5 best teams

k3vin k., Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:28 (nine years ago)

dubs in 5 - I think there will be a slight letdown after the big push to 73 wins
spurs in 4 - they'll be motivated by the extra rest they'd get after a sweep
thunder in 6 - mavs will dig deep for two close wins, but it won't matter
clips in 7 - blazers match up well, but not with chris paul
cavs in 5 - cavs have too many flaws to sweep it
raptors in 5 - raps could sweep, but why bother?
hornets in 6 - they have been rising fast
celtics in 7 - they will unswoon in time to advance

further, I predict that nearly half of these predictions will be inaccurate

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:34 (nine years ago)

you could make a case for all sweeps in the west

celtics could not deal with millsap+horford during the regular season and i'm not sure what they do to fix that in the offs

ciderpress, Thursday, 14 April 2016 18:55 (nine years ago)

i'm worried about one thing they may do to fix it in the offseason

balls, Thursday, 14 April 2016 19:06 (nine years ago)

horford will def be on the celtics next year, along with kevin durant

ciderpress, Thursday, 14 April 2016 19:16 (nine years ago)

yes

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2016 19:17 (nine years ago)

durant-horford-m gasol (prob impossible due to salary considerations or w/e)

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 April 2016 19:19 (nine years ago)

yeah i'm not sure how they're gonna manage all that after they offer evan turner a max deal, maybe they'll find a way

tho i'd like to see boston beat the hawks

J0rdan S., Friday, 15 April 2016 00:29 (nine years ago)

hawks do love a good choke

micah, Friday, 15 April 2016 00:37 (nine years ago)

as do boston fwiw

micah, Friday, 15 April 2016 00:38 (nine years ago)

neither of them wld be choking its a close matchup they even have the same record

lag∞n, Friday, 15 April 2016 00:42 (nine years ago)

how dare they make fantastic unbelievable 3-point shots at a 45% rate

Nhex, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 03:54 (nine years ago)

"Bird/Payton"

Sufjan Grafton, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 03:58 (nine years ago)

Nhex otm. You deserve better. And sometimes better is closer than you think...

Jenny Ondioleeene (Leee), Wednesday, 1 June 2016 03:58 (nine years ago)

Not that this has anything to do with anything, but sometimes I look at the halftime score and don't watch the rest of the game just because I care. So. Much.

Jenny Ondioleeene (Leee), Wednesday, 1 June 2016 03:59 (nine years ago)

who the fuck thinks bird and payton were the same era, unless he means walter payton

balls, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 04:00 (nine years ago)

6 god none the richer (m bison), Wednesday, 1 June 2016 04:07 (nine years ago)

"Hoisting" v "shooting 3s" a comparison not unlike Eddie Murphy "yea I FUCKED her...but I MAKE LOVE to you" reasoning

marcos, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 10:19 (nine years ago)

ok that exchange has sold me on wanting the dubs to win

ciderpress, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 13:00 (nine years ago)

everyday i'm hoistlin'

ulysses, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 17:16 (nine years ago)

just because i didn't see much conversation about it in the media: though donovan's coaching was generally pretty astute, the decision to let Adams and Ibaka follow Steph and Klay to the perimeter in that last game was a terrible one.
after the spurs/dubs series, I have come around to Adams as an elite player and possibly top five center. curious to see if his body can stand up to the pain he's putting it through and deliver the same results in '17.

ulysses, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 22:39 (nine years ago)

Adams had a good playoffs but idk if he's better than many of the other good centers that people forget about since they're on bad teams like vooch and gobert

ciderpress, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:15 (nine years ago)

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics/_/position/c

Spottie, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:17 (nine years ago)

id def rather have adams than vuch or golbert his combination of mobility athleticism and finishing is perfect for todays nba, vooc cant defend and gobert is slow as heck

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:23 (nine years ago)

+obvs a total gamer

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:23 (nine years ago)

adams is great feel like he needs to add one more thing to his game to be elite. he prob could have some playmaking ability if he played on another team.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:27 (nine years ago)

if he cld get his dive game stronger he cld be really good, he doesnt really explode out of the pnr like he cld, hed be unstoppable

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:28 (nine years ago)

yeah that's one he could add too.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:31 (nine years ago)

hes reasonable in the pnr now but he often doesnt use his athleticism like he cld

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:33 (nine years ago)

feel like he's a younger version of current boguts.

Spottie, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:38 (nine years ago)

I think it's unconscionable that you lot are praising a guy with a hipster mustache.

Jenny Ondioleeene (Leee), Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:47 (nine years ago)

why is adams so bad in the advanced stats

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:52 (nine years ago)

advanced stats suck at evaluating centers also he wasn't that good until late in the season + playoffs

ciderpress, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:54 (nine years ago)

he was really inconsistent all year.

Spottie, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:55 (nine years ago)

i always believed in him the archives will show

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 June 2016 23:58 (nine years ago)

he rebounded at a much higher rate in the offs is the biggest thing

ciderpress, Thursday, 2 June 2016 00:00 (nine years ago)

feel like he's a younger version of current boguts.

kinda get you here but he's so much stronger. that under-the-basket reverse one handed dunk he does is a legit fatality

"they got tables? tables on planes? that's amazing."
cf Adams' "Perkins' silverback" anecdote with his later "fast little monkeys" comment.

ulysses, Thursday, 2 June 2016 00:25 (nine years ago)

xp nice as those are (and he gets more elevation than adams), they don't quite have the ferocity of some of SA's playoff dunks
think i saw about eight of these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeiSZAgSggU

ulysses, Thursday, 2 June 2016 00:30 (nine years ago)

he's really strong, and only 22

Spottie, Thursday, 2 June 2016 00:32 (nine years ago)

dams is great feel like he needs to add one more thing to his game to be elite. he prob could have some playmaking ability if he played on another team.

imo a little david west style elbow jumper would be perfect

and yeah playing for carlisle or stotts

micah, Thursday, 2 June 2016 11:20 (nine years ago)

Not that this has anything to do with anything, but sometimes I look at the halftime score and don't watch the rest of the game just because I care. So. Much.

Was just thinking this, basically that short jumper ibaka used to use before they shoved him out to the line, could be a good option for Russell drives that get squashed or just a way to add some shell game to the p-n-r with Russ

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Thursday, 2 June 2016 15:51 (nine years ago)

i kinda love centers who never ever shoot from further than 3 feet

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 June 2016 15:54 (nine years ago)

its happening - the finals

nervous

marcos, Thursday, 2 June 2016 16:13 (nine years ago)

russ was feeding adams a lot near the hoop ... strange floater game iirc

moullet, Thursday, 2 June 2016 16:13 (nine years ago)

adams also has a pretty fundamental post repertoire tho he only gets to try it out every second game

micah, Thursday, 2 June 2016 16:26 (nine years ago)

the fundamental thing about steven is that he is a star

http://i.imgur.com/ysZSQCf.png

there's no denying

moullet, Thursday, 2 June 2016 16:35 (nine years ago)

fact

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 June 2016 16:40 (nine years ago)

At this point in his career, he's probably New Zealand's most successful NBA player ever already.
