what even is that

micah, Friday, 10 February 2017 10:32 (eight years ago)

ball is such a weird and cool player

lag∞n, Friday, 10 February 2017 15:08 (eight years ago)

yeah the ball bros hype train has been fun so far

Spottie, Friday, 10 February 2017 16:09 (eight years ago)

Ball's jumper is significantly weirder than Kevin Martin's but if you shoot it the same way each time you can do amazing things. It's also fairly compact?

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 11 February 2017 22:58 (eight years ago)

yeah seems like a quick trigger and not a lot of motion

Spottie, Saturday, 11 February 2017 23:43 (eight years ago)

he scores at the rim too

J0rdan S., Sunday, 12 February 2017 01:20 (eight years ago)

It's entirely predictable for me to say this but Jonathan Jeanne should be picked in the lottery and I think the mocks that have him in the 20s are being way too conservative

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 13 February 2017 01:33 (eight years ago)

lazy comp rudy gobert 2.0

micah, Monday, 13 February 2017 11:28 (eight years ago)

some thoughts after watching miami-duke today:

-- bruce brown from miami looks like an nba player to me. i think he could be like austin rivers but good? his shot and handle are still kinda rough, but he can get to the rim off the dribble and is athletic in the air, very much in that aggressive combo guard role. but he's also already a good distributor out of the pick and roll. he has advanced block and steal numbers for a guard as well and averages 6 rpg at 6' 5". not sure he has an exact position as a starter but seems like an ideal bench player in the current nba. i think he could be a mid-first round pick if he comes back one more year and keeps playing this well.

-- not sure i'd heard of frank jackson on duke but apparently he was a mega recruit. he was really impressive today. his shot is really pure and he's deceptively smooth going to the rim. his game reminds me a bit of harden, in that he's kind of thick but a sneaky good athlete. jamal murray is prob a more realistic comp. draft express only has him as the #64 overall prospect but he looked better than that to me.

-- jayson tatum looks really good out there but there's something about his game that reminds me of wiggins and barnes and makes me a little nervous. i think he's more skilled than those two and a better athlete but he doesn't seem to have that fire to dominate. should be a pretty good player tho.

-- harry giles... very easy to see why when he was healthy he was prob the #1 overall recruit. the ease with which he moves at that height is crazy. but even w/o ever seeing him in high school it seems obv that he's lost some of his athleticism. he seems to be playing gingerly too. i would be scared to draft him because he's so raw and the injury history would have to terrify you but dang it would be fun if he figured it out.

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 February 2017 15:47 (eight years ago)

royce jung (slothroprhymes), Tuesday, 28 February 2017 15:56 (eight years ago)

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 28 February 2017 16:03 (eight years ago)

coach nick is a goober but yeah his videos are generally worthwhile

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 February 2017 16:13 (eight years ago)

and no one else really does the same thing at the volume he does

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 February 2017 16:13 (eight years ago)

draft xpress doesnt even have a general college fultz video up yet

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 February 2017 16:14 (eight years ago)

interesting both fultz and ball are shooting considerably better this year than last when they were in hs

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 February 2017 16:15 (eight years ago)

When I saw fultz last summer in the FIBA U18 or whatever I thought he looked like a BBall IQ kinda guy but this season he's been way more athletic and explosive and seems bigger than he was a year ago. I don't think Fultz and Ball are "can't miss" but I think they're guys you can pick number one without being stressed about it.

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 March 2017 15:44 (eight years ago)

really interesting how his shooting form leads to him being more comfortable going left than right

call all destroyer, Thursday, 2 March 2017 16:08 (eight years ago)

yeah thats the thing abt bad mechanics even if u can hit yr shots it prevents u from taking certain kinds of shots

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 March 2017 16:09 (eight years ago)

dudes dad is the king of challops

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Thursday, 2 March 2017 17:47 (eight years ago)

huh, it does make sense that his shot could be a product of being right handed but left eye dominant. that cross-body fling does really bug me, though.
