listening to the Kyrie episode of JJ Redick's podcast and kyrie is a weirdo. anyway in a snippet of it JJ said the rim on one side of the court (at the England arena) was crooked. 76ers shot well in the first half and Boston in the 2nd half. idk thought that was interesting

the minn broadcast team is good like everyone says. i actually learn stuff from those guys.

i love the basketball jones/the starters weekly pod, but I could understand if it is way too silly for some. Road trippin is occasionally entertaining. The Ringer's NBA pods should be much better than they are. Give Shea Serrano a podcast, simmons!

my fav hoops pod rn is brian windhorst's espn pod w/ the other espn basketball ppl. it's basically the old truehoop podcast but w/ all good/smart writers and no "personalities" like amin or the more talk radio-ish guys that used to be on the truehoop pods. windhorst is kind of a garbage writer but as a moderator of conversation he's good bcuz he is very very knowledgeable about the league.

i listen to it cause brian is good but i actually hate the combinations of guests who rarely seem to have any chemistry. other than bontemps whose grumpiness i enjoy they can be a drag.

it's a little worse now bcuz jackie macmullan is out... sometimes it's a weird crew. kirk goldsberry in partic is not very good.

yeah he's awful.

windy is cool enough. he knows a lot for sure, seems really plugged in. i havent listened to his pod recently ill get back into it. dude lacks any sense of humor tho.

windy has a sense of humor but like any good midwesterner it's extremely dry.

if anyone would be tickled by hearing zach lowe finally drop a couple f bombs, he’s launched a semi-regular mets segment on his pod and it turns out the mets are the thing that really revs him up.

They have that affect on people.

Sad his presence on Wolves games will be lessened but he was too good to stay local forever, think people are really going to love him as he gets more exposed nationally. Really excellent person by all accounts as well.(Old story)

My time at ESPN has come to an end. Thanks to everyone, past and present, who helped me grow professionally the past 8 years.

Although ESPN offered an extension, we were unable to find alignment on my value to the company.

I will continue to analyze the NBA Draft, college, high school, and international basketball, as I have the past 20+ years, at the company I founded, DraftExpress, alongside a fantastic team.

Really digging the Thinking Basketball series they’re doing right now for the top 25 player peaks of the last 25 years.

it’s been great! their deep dive on draymond was really good. just wish they’d go a little faster…

their discussion of dwight howard was also super interesting — I wasn’t aware of the mediocre on/off numbers for him. they cite things like SVG’s innovative offense and a good backup center as behind that somewhat. I also loved the stat about block-to-goaltend ratio, how dwight was 2nd worst at something like 4.7 over a stretch of a few years around 2010…I immediately thought “javale” and sure enough a few beats later, cody says javale was worst at 4.0 lol. (tim duncan apparently was like 200 to 1 or something.)

tim duncan has 15 career goaltends

the Tim Duncan thing is so unreal. the things I think are probably goaltends often aren't, while the ones I think that are seem pretty touchy, so to have that kind of feel for a real physical space that you're also exerting yourself a lot to get to both physically and mentally is absolutely insane

very hard to overrate duncan's defensive impact over the years. 2nd all-time in defensive win shares behind only bill russell.

peacock and prime... what a disaster. just the worst possible user experiences for tape-delayed game watchers

not to mention that you have to buy them, the youtube tv with league pass package was perfect and they took it from us

yeah it’s not ideal that you need like at least 3 subscriptions to watch games now. also, is NBATV not broadcasting games any more? I didn't see them as hosting any of denver’s games

looking forward to shelling out the same 160 or whatever for league pass again when a significantly larger percentage of games will be blacked out there

i believe the NBA TV games are the bulk of what will be on peacock and prime. that monday night slot for sure was one of NBA TV’s main nights, also saturdays and sundays before ABC/ESPN kick in were big NBA TV windows
