listening to the Kyrie episode of JJ Redick's podcast and kyrie is a weirdo. anyway in a snippet of it JJ said the rim on one side of the court (at the England arena) was crooked. 76ers shot well in the first half and Boston in the 2nd half. idk thought that was interesting

the minn broadcast team is good like everyone says. i actually learn stuff from those guys.

i love the basketball jones/the starters weekly pod, but I could understand if it is way too silly for some. Road trippin is occasionally entertaining. The Ringer's NBA pods should be much better than they are. Give Shea Serrano a podcast, simmons!

my fav hoops pod rn is brian windhorst's espn pod w/ the other espn basketball ppl. it's basically the old truehoop podcast but w/ all good/smart writers and no "personalities" like amin or the more talk radio-ish guys that used to be on the truehoop pods. windhorst is kind of a garbage writer but as a moderator of conversation he's good bcuz he is very very knowledgeable about the league.

i listen to it cause brian is good but i actually hate the combinations of guests who rarely seem to have any chemistry. other than bontemps whose grumpiness i enjoy they can be a drag.

it's a little worse now bcuz jackie macmullan is out... sometimes it's a weird crew. kirk goldsberry in partic is not very good.

yeah he's awful.

windy is cool enough. he knows a lot for sure, seems really plugged in. i havent listened to his pod recently ill get back into it. dude lacks any sense of humor tho.

windy has a sense of humor but like any good midwesterner it's extremely dry.

vernon's perspective is completely delusional and zach did his best to thread the needle of being gracious but also hinting at that. my impression of grizzlies fans on the internet is that it's a widely shared sentiment, which as a fan of a rival team, I'm ok with!

oh sorry i was being sarcastic, i think it was more there is this big push to improve downtown that both the state and feds are involved in, and there is an expectation that the organization needs to do its part by putting a watchable product out there, so trading ja is completely off the table.

if there is any truth to that at all, it just shows how all-in the grizz are with this player but it sounded a little unhinged in the flow of the conversation.

even putting aside the weird stuff about downtown memphis it was funny hearing him lapse into the exact fan cope that always happens in these moments which is explaining how trading a petulant star like ja might make sense for other teams but with memphis it actually doesn’t make sense and you can’t understand that unless you’re from the city

the thing is, generally these sort of repeated antics and character questions will sour a fanbase on a particular player, but with memphis it seems to be the opposite. it’s bizarre

hmm imagine a photo of a guy wearing platform shoes

he's listed as 6-6 by the NBA so that is def his non shoe height however if you wanna call him 6-7 or 6-8 in shoes it's probably not inaccurate, honestly a great existential question about the NBA seeing as nobody plays barefoot

theres no scenario in which cade cunningham is 6-8 he would be a totally different player

re measuring players in shoes the reasons why its so silly is a. its not how people are measured b. players dont wear the same shoes all the time c. players dont wear the same shoes as each other so it ruins the whole point which is to compare the heights of players, anyway im sure it was never done because people thought it was a good idea it was done that way because the players were already wearing shoes at the time they were measured

measuring height w/o shoes to establish a standard baseline totally makes sense to me however nobody plays barefoot so you're still kinda sorta guessing
