I'm down for doing an ILH league but I'd say we need 8 minimum. Confirm in this thread if you want in and I'll set everything up if we get 8.

I’ll play, I’ve only done fantasy hoops like once in the past dozen years so I’m not particularly optimistic about my chances. I hear this Stephen Curry fellow is good at the shooting of basketballs from behind the three point line.

lol i'm having to delete my yahoo account and make a new one for this bc for whatever reason yahoo doesn't have my age information and i can't update it and you have to be 13 to play fantasy basketball. guys i made that account over 20 years ago..........

man, I haven't done a Yahoo fantasy league in years, signing up was a real trip down memory lane. seeing how I participated in a big NCAA tourney pool ten years ago put on by Clay Travis before he went full reactionary dickweed and finished 2nd out of 392.

i prefer yahoo to espn for one reason and one reason only: the lightning (start all active players) button.

damn this draft is at 11:45 EST?! i didn't realize all of y'all were west coasters, it's no biggie but i think odds are very strong that i'll be autodrafting.

I'm east coast too - tbh 8:45 est would be tricky for me anyway putting kids to bed but yeah will probably have to do some autodrafting. I'll try to make it for the first few rounds tho

no auto-drafting allowed (half joking, but like 50% of the fun of fantasy is the draft imo). what time would be work better? I just kind of threw that out for a first time. I could do mid day on Sunday like around 1:30-4pm pacific time or monday evening.

EST evening sunday will work otherwise i'm mostly screwed

Honestly with this being a snake draft it’ll probably go pretty quick so I could possibly swing 1145. An hour or two earlier would be ideal but I can be amenable

yeah my last one took about an hour - 8 teams snake draft 90 seconds for each pick. I changed this one to 60 seconds per pick should go even quicker

10 or 10:30 EST Sunday night would be ideal but could start as early as 9 or at the later pacific-friendly time

so i did some Number Crunching in MicroSoft ExCel (the extra caps in SC stand for Sports Center)

using last year's data, the number one fantasy man per game using spottie's rules is james harden, the second is giannis, wow we got ourselves a mvp debate again!!!

also the player that most unfairly benefits from this scoring system is westbrook

i think percentages are really important for balance in fantasy hoops and would like to suggest we use them!

i wish missed shots could be a negative value, it would really penalize low-efficiency volume shooting that gets the PPG up

altho there arent a lot of ppl other than westbrook who are getting rewarded here, its mostly a reflection of the best talent, though it does reward big men more than it prob should.

the average distribution of a player's Spottie points in this system goes like this (w some rounding):
47% from PPG
26% from RPG
16% from APG
11% from SPG
7% from BPG
-6% from TO/G

big men less likely to have high TO rates and more like to have big REB and BLK so thats why 6 of the top 11 players from 18-19 would be centers (davis 3rd, joel 5th, towns, jokic, drummond, vucevic 8th-11th)

Before I update my team name and image for a new season I would just like to make a self-indulgent acknowledgment of my team name last season M. Jrue's Holiday. Perhaps this group of hoops fans is not quite as erudite as I imagined, and are not intimately familiar with the ouevre of Jacques Tati and his dry, high-minded sight-gag comedy? Or you generously chose not to mock my crude photoshop skills placing Jrue's head onto M. Hulot's body. Whatever the case, I fondly recall creating that image on draft night last year and giggling in self-satisfaction at the results. Onward!

its really bad. seems like such an easy thing to get right but alas. yeah im open to changing it next year.

its only been two days but dejounte broke his hand and all my players shot 12% from the field tonight so im ready to throw it in and try to remember the draft next year

our matchup ain't playing out this week like it did last year lol

so far but a a handful of those categories could flip

it's funny how the fantasy playoffs coincide with the goofiest rosters of the season

congrats spottie! i was dead in the water here missing the draft and ending up with all the creaky injured vets

my roster MVP for the full season was easily Dyson Daniels. Picked him up off waivers after the first game I believe, and he basically won me a single category every week + a little bit of everything else.

my playoff mvp was avdija, 14th round pick putting up like 1st-2nd round value for the last three weeks and no games missed.
