Worst trades ever made by each NBA team?

Every team has a worst-ever trade. The Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees and got cursed for it. My candidate trade:

The Blazers acquired Moses Malone in the ABA dispersal draft. Because they already had Bill Walton and had just acquired Maurice Lucas, they almost immediately traded Malone to the Buffalo Braves (which franchise soon became the San Diego Clippers, the worst snakebit NBA franchise for the next three decades). In return they got a 1st round pick way down the road and some cash.

Anyway, the Blazers won their only championship that season. The next season they lost Bill Walton forever, first to injury, then to peevishness. With Malone still on the roster to fill in for Walton they might have won two or three more chips.

Care to identify some other bonehead trades?

It's hard not to pick Garnett for the Wolves, but Marbury at the time was a great player and only getting:

guard Terrell Brandon from Milwaukee and forward Brian Evans and two draft choices from the Nets, including a first-round

for who was perceived as a young budding superstar is pretty bad

it doesn't look that bad in hindsight just given how Marbury's career went but that was horrible at the time

On February 20, 2002, the Celtics traded Joe Johnson, Randy Brown, and Milt Palacio to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Tony Delk and Rodney Rodgers.

On February 18, 1998, Billups was traded to the Toronto Raptors, along with Roy Rogers, Dee Brown, and John Thomas in exchange for All-Star point guard Kenny Anderson, Žan Tabak, and Popeye Jones.

Yes, the Celtics have been on the winning end of some heists. If only Romeo Langford were good, Fultz for Tatum and the pick that became Langford might be on track to be up there with the Parish/McHale.

As far as worst for the Celtics, they’ve been around for a long time so there’s probably more egregious in their history, but giving up on Chauncey Billups halfway through his rookie season to replace him with veteran help so they could win 36 games and finish last in their division is pretty bad. And then they did the same thing 4 years later with Joe Johnson! (To be fair they were a playoff team at that point and the East was wide open but they got Tony Delk and Rodney Rogers for him, not exactly the pieces that were going to put them over the top.)
