i'm gonna take the over on 10 games with russ on the lakers but not there for the season

3 firsts doesn't make sense to me either. if that team exists it seems like it would stand out a mile as the obvious partner in that deal.

to be clear my argument is not that trae isn't worth three firsts if you strip away context and measure him up against guys like mitchell, murray, gobert etc. but like i said yesterday if you start going thru the teams to find candidates to trade a huge haul of assets to turn the keys of their franchise over to trae... i just don't see many options, personally. but maybe there's secret huge trae fans out there amongst the GM community

obvs finding a match for big trades is always a chore but i feel like getting 3 first for trae is pretty normal

i agree that this would be selling low on trae, however i swear i won't cry if they do. my kid on the other hand...

small point guard is just a tough fit bcuz you really only need one of those guys on the floor. if you already have one (most teams) idk if you're trading all your assets for another one. at least w/ dame you know ppl actually like the guy

also just feel like teams are gonna have to take stock of these recent assets for stars deals & notice that the acquiring teams have almost uniformly ended up w/ the short end of the stick. the market is gonna have to correct itself at some point. i doubt the hawks would be the ones willing to bite the bullet and do the trade that shifts the market back, but i do have to imagine the recent history of those deals would make teams hesitant to do one for a player like trae

the more i think about trae for brad beal the more i feel like that's the move if the hawks are serious about this

bad teams will always want to trade millions of draft picks for star players its just who they are, some owner will always want james harden, the only reason it wasnt happening more in the past is because stars werent available as much

brad beal and 3 firsts maybe, but i wouldnt even do that if i were the hawks. trae isnt even in his prime yet and he was just an all nba player one season ago. beal is 30 and not nearly as good as trae imo. the only way they get rid of him is if he's asked for it or the whole org secretly hates him.

there was an interview with huerter a while ago where he was hinting at something like that

backing up the truck for quin snyder and then not even seeing what he could do with trae would be an interesting series of decisions

unless snyder has already decided he doesnt like trae

personally i would want my highly-compensated coach to at least give it a season with my difficult superstar before making that call but i'm not the son of an nba owner

he's openly clashed w/ two straight coaches & is a ball hog who takes crazy shots while never playing defense. don't think it takes a ton of decoding to come to the conclusion that ppl there prob don't like him
