Kareem is the only near-analog to Victor in terms of instant impact on the whole league, but Kareem arrived in the league aged 22 and already had three NCAA championships under his belt. Wembanyama just needs to add some muscle and show his body can endure the grind of 82 games plus endless playoff series and he'll unquestionably be in the top three or four. Getting enough separation that everyone agrees who is "the best player in the league" is almost impossible these days.

you have guys like jokic, tatum, luka who are still just into or haven't even entered their prime years so i think i'd peg it at like 3 years until victor is indisputably the best player in the league

i think the more interesting question is how much better will he be than the second best player of his wave of guys? like if you put luka, tatum, shai etc to the side -- they're all 24/25 -- and focus just on the 22/23 year olds and under you have guys like: paolo, ant edwards, cade, halliburton, chet, franz, barnes... it feels like victor could be 2x better than them even as most if not all of those guys will be all NBA players

they are pretty stacked at center with high-impact guys (wemby, kornet), stacked with ball-handlers who can break down defenses in a variety of ways (fox, castle, harper), and have a few functional wings who can shoot (champagnie, barnes, vassell, keldon sometimes). carter bryant could be an anunoby type in a couple of years, lindy waters has looked like a good rotation player, sochan is a super versatile defender at minimum, olynyk and biyombo can eat a few minutes, too. theyve cleared the rosters of most of their low-impact go-nowhere prospects (branham, wesley, collins)

pelicans did a nice job of making sure he never really got comfortable or into any rhythm. he ended up fouling out in ot and still almost had a triple double. castle, vassell, and kornet have been huge in producing offense. harper had a rough shooting night but a lot of those were forced drives that he couldnt resist. he'll get smarter with those with exposure.

still havent seen fox, sochan, or olynyk but they should be coming on board soon. what a fun team.

pelicans obv love him and would ask for a king's ransom, like mikal bridges-lite type package.

spurs' guard "logjam" has been a huge blessing due to various injuries allowing guys to get lots of touches while their brethren ride the pine. kornet is good as hell, helps plug the gap while wemby has been out and kept them competitive. gotten great role play from harrison barnes and julian champagnie, good high volume 3 pt shooters. really the big weakness in the rotation is...sad to say bc he is a cool bro, but sochan. he looks like he's regressing.
