celtics shld be the favorite obv, but the heat made the Finals just a couple of days ago, which was flabbergasting, but it shows how much parity there is these days. therefore I voted thunder. why, you ask? bcz it makes the kind of sense that doesn't quite make sense and therefore makes more sense than what looks like the most sensible pick at the start of the season.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict the Sixers will lose in the second.

*second round, though second quarter a possibility as well.

relying on the health and/or stamina of embiid and pg is a dangerous game

I'm getting to a place in my sports fandom where I can focus more on the journey and less on the winning. Maybe it's age, maybe it's a defense mechanism.

Last year was fun to watch Embiid put up incredible individual performances nearly game after game and Maxey bloom as a star. Until Embiid got injured.

Just hoping for reasonable heath under the circumstances and a team with some fun vibes.

oh right. for some reason I remember him doing them right before the season, though aside from the olympics doesn’t seem like there would be reason for much to change in a couple of months. with lowe gone I need better content than is on offer rn tho

perhaps it's nothing, but something to note in the east as the season begins w/ the nba watching public assuming it knows who is gonna be in the top 4

-- zinger missing several months to open
-- PG and embiid missing start of the season
-- middleton missing start of the season
-- mitchell robinson out for months, precious achiuwa missing start of the season
-- max strus out for at least 6 weeks

meanwhile the pacers, magic and heat are all entirely healthy

maybe this stuff evens out, there will be more injuries, some of those guys will get healthy, perhaps soon. but i'm keeping my eye on the east standings being really mixed up even into like jan-feb, wouldn't surprise me to see those latter three teams above some of the big dogs for a while

embiid is supposed to play fwiw

pg injury supposedly not serious, missing zinger should be fine for the celtics, kinda think these injuries are nbd with the exception of middleton bucks are in tough spot already things could for sure get ugly

however are the sixers a huge injury and bad fit risk generally yes of course they are in a dicey sitch

theoretically the sixers should fit well but you never know when you start throwing these stars together, toughest part about that imo is their best team is prob playing a less embiid centric style so is embiid capable of doing that

some of those teams def will be fine, perhaps the sixers, maybe PG and embiid are fully healthy and going hard next week. i just think on the aggregate there are perhaps signs that the east is not going to play out exactly how it seems, at least for the first few months of the season

the knicks having a center rotation that currently consists entirely of KAT and jericho sims, with their third "big" being a guy (OG) who you probably do not want banging around w/ big guys all season, seems relevant

the cavs starting line up might have the worst spacing of any in the league now

mikal turning into a horrendous shooter changes my outlook on them honestly. i also just dont like kat really dont like watching him play any more. think they were better off just seeing how randle would fit in first. but yolo.

they are paper-thin and relying on guys who do not play full seasons, and thibs is their coach. the regular season could be ugly, but their playoff ceiling is pretty high

I don't see the Nugs getting back in the finals without a lot of help (trade or playoff opponent injuries)

To put it another way, I see them having an equal chance with the Warriors, assuming Curry & Green play well and stay healthy/unsuspended

sheesh y'all are down on the Bucks this year. but you're wrong. I don't have any actual evidence as to why I just feel it. Bucks will win the championship this year and probably the next few years after as well
