luke kornet 3 fouls, one of them flagrant, in his first 4
minutes on the court with a new team. wondering if anyone's ever topped that.

SGA 55-8-5-2-1, 23 of those points at the line

Thunder 1st team ever to open the season with b2b 2OT games

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Friday, 24 October 2025 03:01 (six months ago)

I was wondering how often any teams has played b2b multiple OT games...Spurs somehow played two triple OT games in a row in Dec 2014, which was the only time that happened since the Baltimore Bullets of 1951

symsymsym, Friday, 24 October 2025 03:51 (six months ago)

aaron gordon 7/7 from three in the first half, tying the all time record for most 3s in the first half without a miss

jokic 33-15-16-3

Tonight was Nikola Jokic’s 78th career game leading BOTH teams in points, rebounds and assists.

That’s the most such games by any player since the 1976 NBA-ABA merger, 10 more than the next closest player (LeBron James - 68).

crazy

Timberwolves Defensive ratings stats on/off for Gobert are crazy, either second best in the league or so far beyond the worst you need the hubble telescope to see it

With Gobert (247 min): 118.1 ORTG, 109.4 DRTG, 8.7 net rating
Without Gobert (107 mins): 120.1 ORTG, 144.2 DRTG, -24.2 net rating

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 7 November 2025 18:11 (five months ago)

144.2 is unfathomable. and that sample size isn’t that small

comrade jhøsh (k3vin k.), Friday, 7 November 2025 19:12 (five months ago)

it's been interesting, watching Rudy Gobert 100x more than I ever would have in a lifetime. He's a singularly weird and great and terrible and frustrating player. And almost everything he really does well are the types of things that are not suited to be appreciated in the social media highlights era, and everything he's terrible at sticks out like a sore thumb.

like a combination of a defensive savant and a guy that seems like he's seeing a basketball for the first time in his life.

i think ive said this before but best seats i ever had at a game was like 8th row and suns were playing jazz. seeing gobert at like eye level was so shocking. on tv he looks like a normal skinny tall nba player but he would barely be bending over and his hands we're like at his shins, shoulders way more broad than it seems, then he'd put his arms out wide and i have no idea how anyone completes a pass or gets a shot off in his vicinity. ive seen shaq with pretty good seats, and it was even more alien than that somehow. but i do remember how clunky he was on offense, just no feel or touch. i still think the most unlikely shot in nba history is that game 7 shot clock running down fadeaway to help put the nuggets away a couple years back.

Spottie, Friday, 7 November 2025 21:07 (five months ago)

zach lowe, nate duncan et al have been noting that it looks like he’s slowing down in terms of being able to move his feet and contest shots at the rim

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Friday, 7 November 2025 21:10 (five months ago)

yeah I mean he's at the age where he's not going to get better

he also had that one bizarre outburst against the Lakers in the playoffs last year where he scored 27 points and looked incredible on offense for one day

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 7 November 2025 21:11 (five months ago)

- 12.0 RPG

- 73/48/85 splits
- 81% true shooting
- +72 plus-minus

cam left the game in the first quarter last night with some shoulder issue. not sure if that's been a thing that's been bothering him the whole time or not. he's missed a bunch of open looks and it doesn't really make sense

comrade jhøsh (k3vin k.), Thursday, 13 November 2025 20:42 (five months ago)

even tho he was a role player for the suns i feel like there has to be some adjustment involved when moving from "you're one of the top scorers on a horrible team and you can do whatever you want out there and literally nobody cares" to coming into a system like denver's w/ an established hierarchy and shots for role players coming in distinct ways, having actual responsibility, having to play serious basketball etc

You better go listen to lemonade and pray about it (Spottie), Monday, 13 April 2026 17:42 (two weeks ago)

the net rating changes between the two seasons are so small that i'm not really convinced they're examples of anything beyond stuff out of the coach's control i.e. the team having another season together, the league being really bad this year, randomness, inertia etc

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:03 (two weeks ago)

they had a better net rating while playing their starters less

lag∞n, Monday, 13 April 2026 18:05 (two weeks ago)

yeah and i think if you had just given the knicks no coach or like hired a knicks fans out of the stands you'd probably have gotten the same results

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:11 (two weeks ago)

seems unlikely

lag∞n, Monday, 13 April 2026 18:12 (two weeks ago)

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:15 (two weeks ago)

sure but they played them less and got better

lag∞n, Monday, 13 April 2026 18:18 (two weeks ago)

yeah, kinda

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:19 (two weeks ago)

firstly +2.4 isnt nothing it represents over a third of their net rating and second they did it while cutting their starters minutes significantly

lag∞n, Monday, 13 April 2026 18:22 (two weeks ago)

during a year when 1/3 of the league was openly not trying for like half the season, i just think there's lots of noise in those numbers that could be attributed to any number of things that have little or nothing to do w/ the knicks' coaching

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:32 (two weeks ago)

it is true that any number of things happen every season

lag∞n, Monday, 13 April 2026 18:33 (two weeks ago)

knicks were 4-14 this season against boston, detroit, cleveland, okc, san antonio, denver... maybe mike brown missed some of those games

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:35 (two weeks ago)

beating the best teams is hard especially when youre not as good as them

lag∞n, Monday, 13 April 2026 18:36 (two weeks ago)

and one would think that perhaps good coaching could help overcome such difficulties

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:38 (two weeks ago)

would one

lag∞n, Monday, 13 April 2026 18:38 (two weeks ago)

i would genuinely actually love to see someone run all the net rating stats this year but just erase any games involving

wizards, pacers, nets, jazz, kings, grizzlies and then post-asb any game involving the bucks, bulls, warriors

would be much more valuable than what we get right now looking at season long numbers this year w/ no context

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:39 (two weeks ago)

think yall are forgetting that the knicks are the 2026 nba cup champs which is the only thing theyve won in 50 years therefore mike brown is a knicks hofer

big boodith judith (m bison), Monday, 13 April 2026 18:39 (two weeks ago)

funny thing is its very likely that the knicks will lose to the celtics in the second round this year when they beat them last year and everyone will take the opportunity to say that thibs was better because its against the law to acknowledge that the entire celtics roster was injured last year

lag∞n, Monday, 13 April 2026 18:42 (two weeks ago)

on cleaningtheglass which filters out garbage time, which there’s a lot of when you play the bottom feeders, the knicks net rating went from 5.2 last year to 6.1 this year, so to jordan’s point a smaller adjusted increase than the raw totals, then again their improvement on defense is pretty legit and maybe has something to do with playing the starters less lol

instead he is concerned about...

here are some teams that look underwhelming by this measure.

Minnesota. Yes, they’ve reached the Conference Finals in the last two seasons, but I don’t blame you if you’re skeptical of their viability this time around. Anthony Edwards’ knee is acting up and the team hasn’t risen to the level of their opponents. They’ve actually registered a negative point differential vs. A-League opponents, a number that is drowned out by their 20-6 +13.2 MOV mark against B-League opponents. That’s quite the swing.

Philadelphia. I haven’t had them on my title tiers for weeks. Though I hadn’t run this analysis before I made that determination, I feel better now for leaving them off the list. A 21-34 (.382) record against A-League opponents obscured by the 24-3 record against the teams trying to league? Yikes.

Cleveland. Gulp. I talked about them on Russillo last week. I wish they played better down the stretch to validate this post.

Charlotte. Though they have a positive point differential against A-League opponents, the team is seven games below .500 against those foes. That incongruity makes me nervous about their play-in. Still, Buzz City is faring just as well or better than the East outside the top four.

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 April 2026 20:45 (two weeks ago)

oddly satisfying to see denver’s MOV vs the B league teams, it’s been such a weird year for them
