a thing about pro athletes is they're young, you might be a 5-star recruit but if you grew up in a MAGA home and then went to a big fratty red state school where practicing for your sport is basically your whole life, you might not have had much opportunity to develop any individual political beliefs. not trying to make excuses for anyone, but i can see where even a wnba-er with that background is gonna identify with what they grew up with. also many register to vote when they turn 18, still at home under parents' roof, it must be a seriously transgressive act not to register as an R for some

i think i'm sorta missing how this is bad or incongruous for the NBA... there was a whole news cycle where people were celebrating lou williams breaking quarantine to go to magic city for some wings

idk if this particular incident is bad but i do think the general pattern of careless in regard to the brand is bad, endless shitty alternate unis random cross promotions in game gabling ads all ads up to seeming very messy and cheap
