i'm going to get my gloating in now and enjoy it until they implode.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 23 February 2008 09:46 (seventeen years ago)
if we get a healthy bynum, ariza, kobe (although geez the dude is not mortal at the moment, I feel spoiled getting to watch him every game), and pau gets comfortable (and i agree with some commentator odom is sorted out now that the pressure's off him a bit) the lakers could have the best bench in 20 years.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 23 February 2008 09:50 (seventeen years ago)
<3 ariza
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 23 February 2008 09:51 (seventeen years ago)
fisher is playing as good or better than he's ever played, miracle shots notwithstanding. although he went bananas in 2001 playoffs.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 23 February 2008 09:52 (seventeen years ago)
yeah ariza is a really 'disruptive' player in a good way, reminds me of a young stacey augmon or something. i can tell he's reining himself in right now, he's gonna be good.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 23 February 2008 09:59 (seventeen years ago)
they could go all the way. yeah.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 23 February 2008 10:11 (seventeen years ago)
although i don't see any super teams this year, the bar isn't very high.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 23 February 2008 10:12 (seventeen years ago)
how will you feel when your lakers go up against your rockets?
― Dimension 5ive, Saturday, 23 February 2008 13:53 (seventeen years ago)
definite favs to win it all this year and pwn the association for a few years to come - thanks a lot memphis W T F
― jhøshea, Saturday, 23 February 2008 13:57 (seventeen years ago)
The Lakers are certainly improved with Gasol, but there is so much talent in the West that they could be bumped before the Finals. Look at last year, at Dallas or Phoenix or Golden State for that matter. Domination ain't easy right now.
There's many a slip twixt cup and lip. (I just love to say "twixt".)
― Aimless, Saturday, 23 February 2008 19:32 (seventeen years ago)
ok so if the lakers take the the championship from the celtics this spring (most likely outcome of this nba season) you what might grate on me the most? its not even the fucking gasol trade. its that sasha vujacic is actually good at basketball. thats just insult to injury.
― jhøshea, Sunday, 24 February 2008 08:43 (seventeen years ago)
haha 15 points or something today. i think he's fueled by pure snottiness. he's a showman.
― tremendoid, Sunday, 24 February 2008 11:27 (seventeen years ago)
haha! this is still a young team that will be be a real contender for the championship he next few years
― carne asada, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:45 (seventeen years ago)
and they can probably type better then me too
― carne asada, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)
sasha has a nickname, according to local announcers. 'the machine'
― tremendoid, Monday, 25 February 2008 03:01 (seventeen years ago)
i've got to agree with Plaschke. if Kobe is not the MVP this year they should just throw that award out the window
― carne asada, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 14:46 (seventeen years ago)
Or, alternatively, they could throw Kobe out the window.
― Aimless, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)
Just throw Plaschke out the window. Win win!
― David R., Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:17 (seventeen years ago)
i'm no Plaschke fan by far. but he's been a hater for awhile and to hear him say that says a lot.
― carne asada, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:21 (seventeen years ago)
kobes great but the myth that hes the best has always been totally wtf - hes never even had a year where hes been the best
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:25 (seventeen years ago)
what the hell are the criteria for veing named MVP anyway? it's always up for interpretation, isn't it? he's as deserving as anybody else in the conversation. The time has come!
― carne asada, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:33 (seventeen years ago)
*being
mvp is bron bron
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:34 (seventeen years ago)
my top 5 would be something like
1. bron 2. chris paul 3. dwight howard 4. mamba 5. baron davis
lebron will get his
― carne asada, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:35 (seventeen years ago)
dwight is nice and all but NO
― carne asada, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:36 (seventeen years ago)
dude get most of his points off garbage
― carne asada, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:37 (seventeen years ago)
replace him with any other center in the east and orlando are barely sniffing the playoffs
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:38 (seventeen years ago)
exactly, there are no other centers in the east (gannett withstanding)
― carne asada, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:39 (seventeen years ago)
yah obv the criteria is totally wtf but lebron and chris paul are having such better seasons - and if it doesnt go to one of those dudes then prob garnett will get it - writers <3 stories lol - not that hes not hving a great season but its more comparable to kobes than those two dudes who are really setting it off
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:39 (seventeen years ago)
top 10 per fwiw
bron paul amare ginobilli duncan bosh kobe kg dirk howard
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:42 (seventeen years ago)
yah except dwight's averaging 25 and 10 v. dallas this year, 18 and 10 vs the lakers, 31 and 20 v the suns, 18 and 9 v houston and he had 34 and 16 v the spurs
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:43 (seventeen years ago)
he's averaging 20 and 14 v. the east and 21 and 14 overall so there isn't really a drop-off
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:44 (seventeen years ago)
i mean i would o_O if he won the mvp i'm just saying he's def in the discussion
eh whoever tears up the rest of the season will win it
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 22:46 (seventeen years ago)
its gotta be lebron, esp if cav's finish strong
― 6335, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)
garnett will win if the c's maintain the best record and return to defensive dominance now that everyones healthy again - its just too good a story for the writers to pass up
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 23:43 (seventeen years ago)
^^ this is going to be awful when it happens as lebron has been on destroy mode with little to no help all damn year.
― Clay, Thursday, 28 February 2008 03:34 (seventeen years ago)
c's looked good against the cavs last night.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:14 (seventeen years ago)
<3 hornets mashing out the suns
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:44 (seventeen years ago)
yah the celtics seem to be rounding back into form after all those injuries - when healthy theyre a truly great defensive team

i still think that shaq trade will be their downfall
― carne asada, Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:54 (seventeen years ago)
i like how he's trying to kick his gracefulness up a notch. would have been nice 4 or 5 years ago. i like shaq though, hope this won't be his albatross.
― tremendoid, Friday, 29 February 2008 00:17 (seventeen years ago)
Yo Kobe is #2 overall player (behind Paul) in famous Sweep the Lag Bowen fantasy league!
Uhh but then again: 1. Paul 2. Kobe 3. Amare 4. Marion 5. Camby 6. Dirk 7. Bron 8. BARON!!!! ^_^ ^_^ =^_^= 9. Chauncy 10. AI
― Leee, Saturday, 1 March 2008 18:58 (seventeen years ago)
picked up Ira Newble today, I think it was a good move(i thought he was just playing with someone?). he's not very creative but he's bulky and he runs hard.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 22 March 2008 05:52 (seventeen years ago)
phil may be looking for a new enforcer
― tremendoid, Saturday, 22 March 2008 05:53 (seventeen years ago)
it's the only thing they're missing (in theory), turiaf has the energy but he's a teddybear.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 22 March 2008 05:54 (seventeen years ago)
also radmanovic is balling right now (finally)
― tremendoid, Saturday, 22 March 2008 07:21 (seventeen years ago)
they're gearing up for a serious run. the remainder of the season is set up for them to get healthy while staying on or near the top of the conference.

wow the GS game was the most disheartening win of the year, they did everything in their power to give it away. the young guys are really acting their age, hope they settle down once they get A center back in the lineup.and then Lamar(who played great) taking a page from the James Brown school of interviews after the game, wtf.
― tremendoid, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 05:29 (seventeen years ago)
and then Lamar(who played great) dude has been ballin!

― Leee, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 03:50 (seventeen years ago)
uh did the lakers just lose @ home to the griz
wtf?
― jhøshea, Saturday, 29 March 2008 16:03 (seventeen years ago)
oh but you missed the loss to the bobcats lol
― tremendoid, Saturday, 29 March 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)
whats going on here?
― jhøshea, Saturday, 29 March 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)
shaky perimeter defense, no center to clean up the mistakes. they threw chris mihm onto the floor at one point (who had surgery a month ago) if that gives you any idea.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 29 March 2008 16:27 (seventeen years ago)
haha i remember chris mihm he used to be on the celtics
― jhøshea, Saturday, 29 March 2008 16:29 (seventeen years ago)
9 games left and both big men are still ailing - not a lot of time to get flowing here
doubtful that bynum as young and inexperienced as he is and long as hes been out can be effective at all
looks like the lakers are particularly vulnerable to a first round exit in the crazy ass stacked west
― jhøshea, Saturday, 29 March 2008 16:33 (seventeen years ago)
Cry me a lake.
― Aimless, Sunday, 30 March 2008 17:23 (seventeen years ago)
fisher is good to watch
i'd like to see the spurs eat it. its satisfying to see duncan lose ^o^
― am0n, Sunday, 13 April 2008 21:43 (seventeen years ago)
that was fun. ginobli for mvp, lol; that was not spurs basketball.
― tremendoid, Sunday, 13 April 2008 22:19 (seventeen years ago)
not to make excuses for them. i've always been mildly fond of the spurs, even though the nice guy stuff has long since been exposed as bs. nice clothesline, bowen.
― tremendoid, Sunday, 13 April 2008 22:24 (seventeen years ago)
"looks like the lakers are particularly vulnerable to a first round exit in the crazy ass stacked west"
Well this is looking less and less likely.
― Alex in SF, Monday, 14 April 2008 16:59 (seventeen years ago)
i don't think i feel so good about the rush to sign bynum to a 4 year contract. They saved some money but that's about the only advantage to not waiting until the season has played out.
― carne asada, Friday, 31 October 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)
They saved some money but that's about the only advantage to not waiting until the season has played out.
― carne asada, Friday, 31 October 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)
lakers kinda scare me rite now :{
― eman, Friday, 31 October 2008 17:23 (seventeen years ago)
Plaschke hates the deal, therefore its a good one.
― mayor jingleberries, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:15 (seventeen years ago)
i don't hate it. i just think the lakers were in a good spot just waiting to see if the guy can play a whole season. hopefully it all works out and Kupchak continues to prove people wrong.
― carne asada, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:27 (seventeen years ago)
i was kinda surprised they did it so quickly. like you say, they pretty much gave him a new contract on the basis of a good half season.
― circles, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)
Centers are a different commodity than the other positions. The better ones tend to longevity, not because they are such superb physical specimens, but because they have far less competition at their level of play. As long as Bynum doesn't fall apart physically, he'll probably last another 14 years.
― Aimless, Friday, 31 October 2008 20:41 (seventeen years ago)
