i think Ginobli is a lock, but then again it's the first time it's occurred to me he even belongs there so maybe i'm way off. no he's a lock, he's made about the net contribution that, say, James Worthy made. Still a big horry fan but that would be a perverse nomination, i like the dubious corner of nba lore he's carved out already. Get some superobvious out the way. Shaq, kobe, duncan, mourning, olajuwan, maybe robinson, stockton and shitheadfuck malone, pippen. maybe kidd maybe not, i'd personally be comfortable leaving him off, same with iverson or someone like that. gary payton? reggie miller? the problem is jordan dimmed so many of that generation's light whereas the greatest of his contemporaries (barkley, ewing,nique...) were able to come out of their battles with a lot of dignity intact

Kidd's a lock. Reggie Miller gets in too, but it's not a lock. But Mourning? a lock?
― Euler, Saturday, 24 May 2008 20:18 (seventeen years ago)
reggie miller gets in waaay easier than kidd. think back on all the legendary jason kidd moments. yeah. narrative counts for a lot, that's why mourning is a lock.
― tremendoid, Saturday, 24 May 2008 21:39 (seventeen years ago)
does sheed have a chance? maybe if he gets another ring? because if so, that's a day I look forward to.
― Clay, Sunday, 25 May 2008 00:30 (seventeen years ago)
horry and sheed have no chance. numbers count for a ton in the modern era, and # of all-nba teams and all star games and shit. ginobili's borderline to me. only 1 all-star game will count for a lot.
no way is mourning a lock. his numbers aren't great, he never came through in the clutch, he got away with tons of flexing barking bullshit b/c of the kidney. i guess i just hate him.
kidd gets in easy. legendary moments, no, but everyone loves his game and he's a top 10 pg of all time.
iverson's weird cuz he's the defining player of the worst generation in nba history. he could get there b/c he plays the media so well and he's got all types of narratives going
interesting one: steve nash??
― hytop, Sunday, 25 May 2008 15:41 (seventeen years ago)
I don't see how Nash isn't a lock. Two time MVP, huge numbers. He's missing a ring but I don't think you should hold that against him.
I'd support Iverson too but I don't see that he's a lock.
Horry should open his own hall of fame.
― Euler, Sunday, 25 May 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)
iverson is 3rd all-time in points per game right now behind only jordan and wilt, no way is he not getting in when you throw that in with his rep as a warrior. kidd and miller are mos def in. gary payton seems like a dude who should get in but his stats aren't the type that get the attention of the media. ginobili and mourning are great but i dunno about the hall. nash is in imo.
― omar little, Sunday, 25 May 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)
ginobili only gets in if (a) argentina goes nuts in the olympics again and (b) he gets a couple more all-star berths. euroleague #s probably won't go too far for voters and he's only played association ball like 6 years, about 4 of them good.
gary payton's an interesting one, dude was a monster on steals and for about ten years was one of the top pg's, hard to say no.
― m bison, Sunday, 25 May 2008 16:15 (seventeen years ago)
nash was only the third best dude on his team til he was well into his thirties. i mean, gary payton has better numbers, actually played defense, and played in the finals. nash is 14 and 8 for his career (48% shooting is awesome, tho)
nash's game is more fun to watch, tho, and that counts a lot. no one ever wrote that gary payton was saving the nba
iverson is in, but 42.6% career shooting is ugly
what if wade only has a season or two left? is he in?
― hytop, Sunday, 25 May 2008 18:22 (seventeen years ago)
AI is a lock. Best scorer at that height ever, made it to finals, good enough def. stats/reputation
― Granny Dainger, Sunday, 25 May 2008 18:22 (seventeen years ago)
garnett
no on dwade at this point, yes if he can stay at close to the same pace for 4-5 more. same w/ ginobli. parker has similar #'s and just as many rings
reggie miller and AI = locks

BAN J.A. ADANDE
― circles, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 02:09 (seventeen years ago)
You're more likely to find him hanging out with the strength and conditioning coach or even (gasp) reporters.
gee, we couldn't tell that from the article
― circles, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 02:12 (seventeen years ago)
haha adande
it would be pretty fun to be horry, tho. even when he's 'locked in' for a game 7, he still kind of coasts and picks his spots. i don't know if i've ever seen a player take it so easy for so long. even vince went hard for that one dunk contest.
― hytop, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 15:55 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, he's pretty much where a career role player wants to be at age 37: getting paid 3.6 million to play a little but mostly to give his team a psychological edge in the playoffs.
