TS: Two Free Throws or the One-and-One

Something about the one-and-one seems wrong to me. You got hacked on a shot that would have been worth two points, shouldn't you get two shots at those points? Why should you have to "earn" that second shot? If you miss a field goal should you be prohibited from shooting on the next possession?

Then again, the 1&1 is really exciting at the collegiate level, and imagine the impact on guys like duncan and shaq if the nba adopted it. isn't the nbdl or some other podunk league experimenting with it this year? or was that the bizarre no-three-pointers thing i'm thinking of?

also, C/D: three free throws for being fouled in the act of shooting a three pointer.

plus, the 1&1 would make the value of dudes like nash and cassell (and lebron, etc) just SKYROCKET. penetrate, get layup or get fouled, bag two, repeat. maybe shaq would shoot some free throws over the summer.

I thought the 1-and-1 was only for non-shooting fouls after the 7-foul limit is reached...?

I'm terrible with b-ball rules in general! I still don't get that thing w/ the circle under the hoop.

yeah it's only for non-shooting fouls.
if you're out in front of the circle and clearly set, a charge should be called when an offensive player runs into you. if you're within it, or even if the heel of one of your shoes is touching it, it's a foul on you, holmes.

my unrealistic dream lately is to become a professional ref. how does one accomplish that? i assume your start out by volunteering at the local level?? sounds boring. but it'd pay off eventually cause you know pro refs get MAD TAIL!!
