i saw that abt 8 times on sportscenter tonight while at the gym...like hearing the announcer reactions there lol
― johnny crunch, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:28 (seventeen years ago)
im still completely confounded by anthony morrow scoring 62 points in 2 games and then 31 over the next 6 games
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:29 (seventeen years ago)
i love that the crowd was basically laughing in disbelief there
― cankles, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:31 (seventeen years ago)
two other guys:
dj augustin is quietly balling for the bobcats (wasted career though obv)and the rookie rebound leader is... Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:33 (seventeen years ago)
moute is putting up basically identical stats to brook lopez - bringing 5% of the lols obv altho he is a prince of an african country
i think what i like best about the rose crossover is that he does it really cleanly and doesn't take steps or carry it. like the old iverson crossover of jordan is still pretty impressive, but he holds on to the ball a bunch when he's changing directions.

the hawks radio announcer is like that - he went apeshit whenever they played the Heat last year, calling riley HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS and basically going into these free-form rants that were like beat poetry - also he called the entirety of salt lake city 'classless punks'
― cankles, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 04:21 (seventeen years ago)

O.J. Mayo is a bad, bad man. Back-to-back 30-point games in wins, outplaying McGrady down the stretch tonight.
Now that Griz have ditched the dud coach, the team is gonna win a few more games and Mayo's gonna start going large with regularity.
― Hubie Brown, Thursday, 5 February 2009 04:39 (seventeen years ago)
Mayo is true. welcome back hubie
― do th ebred a (tremendoid), Thursday, 5 February 2009 08:07 (seventeen years ago)
mayo is a weird guy - just sort of a pro jump shooter - doesnt really get to the line doesnt fill up the box score but hes v crafty - prob be a good defender too

Expectations for Oden were so sky-high that just coming off the bench and getting double-doubles seems like weak beer to a lot of people. otoh, I am very happy with his development so far.
Fernandez is good and he's going to get better, but not nearly as much better as Oden will. I was a bit dubious of the Rudy hype after the Olympics finished, but he has turned out to be a really nice addition.
Nic Batum is still flying under the radar for public attention, even in Portland, but I think I am happier about his solid play as a starter than I am about Greg Oden or Fernandez. It was just such an unexpected bonus. That kid can finish on a break, too.
It took a while, but another Blazer rookie, Jeryd Bayless, has been very hot lately and looks to become their starting point guard before his his initial contract expires. Good. It is the final piece they need.
With a rookie haul like this, I don't really care if any Blazers win Rookie of the Year. OJ Mayo or Derrick Rose can have it. Our guys will be in the Finals long before they are.
