Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 14:36 (nineteen years ago)

also: we doing fantasy hoops this year as a group or should i just start my own league and let you all know about it ?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 14:37 (nineteen years ago)

YES to fantasy hoops. I'm in like gin.

c('°c) (Leee), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

I need to improve upon my 5th place finish. No more trusting Brad Miller.

Dionne Warrick Dunn football psychic hotline (Matt Chesnut), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

what's better: nighttime draft midweek (advantage: beer) or midday draft weekend (advantage: weekend)? I'll set it up if youze wants.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 19:49 (nineteen years ago)

i'm of course in on a fantasy league

we should do a keeper league someday! who are the lifers around here?

metonymus prime (rgeary), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

I need to nip Haikunym in the bud on the last day of the season again.

As to draft times -- too much TV on midweek (LOST? AMERICAN NEXT TOTTY MOTEL? UGMO BETTA (though I don't watch it)??), also the East/West side time zone beefs means Westies might still be @ work.

Do keeper leagues cost $?

c('°c) (Leee), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 20:28 (nineteen years ago)

I PLAY TOO

I DRAFT ERIC MONTROSS

CHAMPIONSHIP

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 22:24 (nineteen years ago)

how is sunday the 15 with everyone?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 22:37 (nineteen years ago)

Should be fine by me, long as it's done before 8pm Pacific time.

c('°c) (Leee), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 22:56 (nineteen years ago)

carson palmer + julius jones for donovan mcnabb

gear (gear), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 23:22 (nineteen years ago)

I would like to get down with a fantasy league, strangers.

And, much as I hate to admit it, staying away from Brad Miller is probably a safe bet. Playing for Team USA pretty much guarantees he'll suffer something major sometime in January/February.

Jeff Reguil0n (Talent Explosion), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 23:32 (nineteen years ago)

okay league number is 68453, password is loveshaq, this year technical fouls are a new category, draft is sunday october 15, 12:45 p.m. EST / 11:45 a.m. CST / 10:45 a.m. Mountain / 9:45 a.m. PST (aka Leee oversleeps again and picks Troy Murphy #1, it's happened before), let's rock

my team is DA NANCY LIEBERMANZ

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 00:07 (nineteen years ago)

in as 'manu's cosmic flop', in tribute to funkadelic and ginobili's tendency to embellish.

Max Moves: 40
Max Trades: 20

MAX MOVES = FAG0T (imo)

Scott Fajita :( (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 5 October 2006 06:42 (nineteen years ago)

also wtf @ drafting 15 minutes b4 kickoff :-(

Scott Fajita :( (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 5 October 2006 06:48 (nineteen years ago)

ade if you are going to call me a fagot then you are being a dickhole and you must stop doing that or else I will not put you in the league because NO DICKHOLES IN LEAGUE. also either a) you cannot spell or b) you are french-canadian or some shit. either way, knock it off, there's a difference between being ALL NOIZE YEAH MOTHREFKCrZ I CAN CALL PEOPLE A NAME and then, on the other hand, just being a dickhole. you know the difference, you are generally cool, dont cross the line okay plz thanks.

also, reason for max moves is because we didnt do it last year and it adds a layer of complexity that we dont have in the football league. if you dont like it then either a) ask to have it bumped up or b) dont play then or c) you are french-canadian or some shit.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 13:07 (nineteen years ago)

oh and we have to draft then because i have lots going on on the weekends and we have people in three different time zones. if you cant draft hoops with a football game on at the same time then maybe this aint for you son.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 13:09 (nineteen years ago)

furthermore, apologies for stupid league name, my son picked it: "the three greatest basketball players of all time dad! it's perfect!" and I couldnt argue because he was about half right.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 13:11 (nineteen years ago)

um, I would like to fantasy but I've never done it before. Is newbieism tolerated?

also i hateshaq

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Thursday, 5 October 2006 14:01 (nineteen years ago)

newbieism is COMPLETELY tolerated; I have played for three years and was only good at it in my first year! SIGN UP SUSAM

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

here's what you have to do: go to basketball.fantasysports.yahoo.com (you'll have to do a yahoo id if you dont have one already), click on 'sign up now', follow all instructions, and then when you get a 'join existing league' (or 'custom league' or whatever) just click that and enter the details from above

just so all y'all know, I will delete random googlers who sign up, only I Love Hoops for now; i might fill it in with some of my friends / relatives too, I AM CRAXY LIKE TeH FOX

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

9:45 a.m. PST (aka Leee oversleeps again and picks Troy Murphy #1, it's happened before)

I didn't oversleep for this draft.

c('°c) (Leee), Thursday, 5 October 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

I have registered as WISPY MOUSTACHE CLUB. Preference will be given to players who wear or have work wispy moustaches on draft day.

Jeff Reguil0n (Talent Explosion), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:02 (nineteen years ago)

Or worn, even.

Jeff Reguil0n (Talent Explosion), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

I will probably register although I'm not certain I'll be able to do the draft (we'll be out of town that weekend where there is probably no wifi, the horror). what happens if you don't participate in the draft, do you just get the leftover dudes no one else wants?

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:08 (nineteen years ago)

no, you can pre-draft the players you want, and you'll get whoever is highest on your list whenever it's yr turn

SHOULD I CHANGE THE DRAFT TO ANOTHER TIME? like maybe Saturday night on 10/21 or something?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

don't change it just on my account, since I don't know what I'm doing or anything!

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

no Ade also said the time wasn't great for him because of footballz, so we should work it out at a time when all can attend if we can

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:42 (nineteen years ago)

A midweek night would work best for me. Maybe a Thursday?

Jeff Reguil0n (Talent Explosion), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:48 (nineteen years ago)

i'm good whenever that weekend, but sunday mornings have seemed to work out for most (except phil-2!)

metonymus prime (rgeary), Thursday, 5 October 2006 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

newbies have teh newbie luck too! i won both my leagues in my second year, and my first year i basically set it up and failed to do anything until the last 3 weeks.

not sure how i feel about max moves, but there's generally little correlation between # of moves and success

metonymus prime (rgeary), Thursday, 5 October 2006 19:06 (nineteen years ago)

oh and should we ping some of the ilhoops league regulars? phil, aaron, teeny et al?

metonymus prime (rgeary), Thursday, 5 October 2006 19:08 (nineteen years ago)

I don't like max moves, because I enjoy micromanaging my team. Makes me feel like a man.

Jeff R., what time zone you in?

c('°c) (Leee), Thursday, 5 October 2006 19:35 (nineteen years ago)

whoa dude chill, i wasn't calling u a fag! :'( i am indeed a dickhole though. Leee otm as well. this is my first time playing fantasy basketzalcoatl and i just want as large a margin of error as possible!

ps. butts

Scott Fajita :( (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 5 October 2006 22:31 (nineteen years ago)

hahaha okay, sounds good...but maybe 100 moves max, THERE HAVE TO BE STANDARDS DAMMIT

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 5 October 2006 23:38 (nineteen years ago)

WOW 3 UTIL SPOTS!!! GOOD FOR ME AND MY SURPLUS WARRIORS!

c('°c) (Leee), Friday, 6 October 2006 00:47 (nineteen years ago)

HOT PLATE'S HOTPLATE REPORTING FOR DOODY (and a possible name change)

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 6 October 2006 01:57 (nineteen years ago)

My kitty is dying. I will need basketball and the pointlessness of fantasy play to carry my through. Are you up to the challenge, ILHoops?

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Friday, 6 October 2006 02:54 (nineteen years ago)

I am in the Pacific time zone. I live in California. Hooray for me.

Jeff Reguil0n (Talent Explosion), Friday, 6 October 2006 07:57 (nineteen years ago)

Sam I am very sorry about your cat.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 6 October 2006 11:51 (nineteen years ago)

LOL at Team Nene.

c('°c) (Leee), Friday, 6 October 2006 16:30 (nineteen years ago)

thanks, i was trying to cram a 60 million dollar contract joke in there but it didn't fit. stupid 20 character limit

seriously is that the worst signing of the offseason or what? the nugs paid for potential on a guy who missed the entire last season. maybe they're just trying to make him more attractive as isiah trade bait!

(last zeke joek before the season starts, i promise)

metonymus prime (rgeary), Friday, 6 October 2006 20:47 (nineteen years ago)

also king james is now the default prerank #1 playa! hard to argue with that, i guess

lamar odom is the 25th most valuable fantasy player??

metonymus prime (rgeary), Friday, 6 October 2006 20:48 (nineteen years ago)

Dude passes to Kobe a lot. Gets Kobe's leftovers. Rebounds Kobe's misses. Lamar Odom is a Kobe Bryant cottage industry.

Dionne Warrick Dunn football psychic hotline (Matt Chesnut), Saturday, 7 October 2006 05:16 (nineteen years ago)

HEY EVERYONE WHAT ABOUT OCT 18 (wednesday) at night? we could do it so it was like 9 pm eastern and then its only 6 pm pacific, let me know immejutleeee

Haikunym (Haikunym), Saturday, 7 October 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

That time is super duper for me.

Jeff Reguil0n (Talent Explosion), Saturday, 7 October 2006 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

I'm in on the league! (Rip City Masks... until I can think of a better name).

Aaron W (Aaron W), Saturday, 7 October 2006 18:26 (nineteen years ago)

Okay, I have changed the time of the draft to Oct. 18 (Tuesday), and it is now at night. CHeck yr email ande the league page for more details. Everyone who has a problem with this better holler back quick-like -- the only reason i'll change it now is if my east coast people can't start a draft at 9:30 pm.

Also, from now on, the "Fantasy..." thread is where we talk about this stuff. This thread can now revert to talking about preseason matters. For example: Emeka Okafor has lost something like 20 lbs. of muscle over the summer!

Haikunym (Haikunym), Sunday, 8 October 2006 11:42 (nineteen years ago)

you meant to say Oct. 17 (Tuesday). no room for ambiguity!

dan (dan), Monday, 9 October 2006 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

whoops yeah oct 17 dammit. also I have a better team name.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Monday, 9 October 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

OMG I WAS GONNA SAY I CAN'T MISS LOST

Tues. night is kosher. I'll drive down to Charlotte & start feeding Emeka some fried Coke.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 9 October 2006 19:52 (nineteen years ago)

More like JAILPACERS, aren't I right?

c('°c) (Leee), Thursday, 12 October 2006 15:22 (nineteen years ago)

hi dudes!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 12 October 2006 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

Speak of the devil! Errr, sorta!

Hi teeeny!

c('°c) (Leee), Thursday, 12 October 2006 21:06 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't mean to make fun of your JailPacers!

c('°c) (Leee), Thursday, 12 October 2006 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

watch out, I will bust a cap etc.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 13 October 2006 01:01 (nineteen years ago)

"you couldnt bust a grape in a food fight"

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 13 October 2006 01:56 (nineteen years ago)

so how's everyone's teams (not talking fantasy here) looking after their preseason openers? not all teams have played yet, right? any new guys--rookies or acquisitions--particularly impressive?

oops (Oops), Friday, 13 October 2006 02:35 (nineteen years ago)

i think i'll go to some hawks games this year, i haven't been to an nba game in years. i'm sort of excited about them this season, tho i should probably know better :-(

shelden williams is a pimp imho

fergie-ferg meluvulongtime~~~ (Adrian Langston), Friday, 13 October 2006 03:11 (nineteen years ago)

Nellyball! Warriors win 120-66 over Turkey's Efes Pilsen, but clearly not playing defense if this Pilsen guy playing 1-on-5 can still score 66 points.

c('°c) (Leee), Friday, 13 October 2006 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

MARK MY WORDS.
Bulls vs Cavs in East Conf Finals. Bulls in 5.
Tyrus Thomas wins R.O.Y, if Skiles allows it. He's averaging about 1 sensational play on each side of the ball per game, though granted he's playing against the other team's bench. Two examples: 1)at mid-court, putting pressure on other team's point guard. strips him, quickly dribbles behind his back to get around him, leads the break, and dishes it off for an easy lay up. this is not something i'm accustomed to a bulls' power forward doing (othella harrington, malik allen, mike sweetney, take your pick).
2) other team is on the break. point guard makes a nice pass to a wide open big man under the hoop, who immediately goes up for the easy shot. tyrus jumps from behind him and FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LANE for the block. just incredible.
