im talking shooting here dan not scoring just u know jump shooting - a skill in which bird is widely considered to be one of the greatest of all time - a skill which jordan didnt really become proficient at until the second half of his career - anyway birds got 5% points on jordan for career 3pt% - jordans @ 33% and birds @ 38%

birds got 4 rebounds a game on jordan and 1 assist - the one assist is more impressive than it seems since jordan had the ball in his hands a lot more than bird did - another way of looking at this is bird used a way higher % of his possessions on passing than jordan did - also he played a position which generally gets less assists - and once again bird is widely considered to be a great passer - u should check out some old youtubes - guy had incredible court vision

between the two it would actually be a sort of interesting argument if jordan hadnt been a world class defender and bird a shitty one - i mean if they had similar defensive skills id still take jordan but itd be close

just to go back to the D bird was crafty def a good team defender but he could not keep guys in front of him - especially in the 2nd half of his career

don't mind me i'm just searching ilh for "v" but fwiw jordan's career ast% = 24.9 including peaks of 34.7 and 28.6 a couple years (and then 30.8 again in 2002, wth); bird's is 24.7% with peaks 0f 28.6 and 28.9 but pretty consistently in the 25s to 27s. jordan also turned the ball over far less often, 9.3% for his career compared with 12.7 for bird
