post-rehab Beasley (Mia)
From your keyboard to God's ears.
Also, a starting Heat lineup featuring Beasley, Bosh and Wade would be nice. Not next year, tho.
― Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 22 October 2009 21:23 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, interested to see where Bosh ends up next season. i guess the Mavs are on the top of his list... Mia and Atl also up there i would assume. i think he's a little overrated, but he'd fit real nice w/ someone like Wade.

The Western Conference is still crazy competitive.
As a Portlander I love the talent the Blazers have assembled and I believe that they can compete for the title, if they stay together, and healthy, but the 2010 WC playoffs should be another round of armageddon and I am timid to predict more than a round two achievement this next spring. They could win 58 in the regular season, but they need playoff experience and it is scarce.
My heart whispers, "breakout season", but my head says "you shittin me?"
― Aimless, Friday, 23 October 2009 01:09 (fifteen years ago)
I will predict that Allen Iverson will continue to be irrelevant in 2009-2010.
― Aimless, Monday, 26 October 2009 17:36 (fifteen years ago)
i like the Blazers as second best in the west. love to see them match up with like San Antonio in the second round of the playoffs.
― carne asada, Monday, 26 October 2009 18:00 (fifteen years ago)
i guess the Mavs are on the top of (Bosh's) list
I haven't kept up with Dallas but I don't think this would be a good fit for Bosh. Miami, OTOH, would be ideal, especially if we could attract a decent center as a complimentary player.

West:
Clearly the class of the conference:1. Lakers (Wonder about how hungry the non-Kobe Lakers will be; a lot of distractions.)2. San Antonio (If they stay healthy, they will be hard to beat.)
And then:3. Portland (who should trade for Bosh, I think.)
4. Dallas (If they struggle early, Cuban has the wherewithal to make a move.)5. Denver (Doubt they can play that well two years in a row, despite an excellent core.)
Best teams I could see missing the playoffs:6. Utah7. New Orleans
8. Clippers (Kinda love this roster. Tempted to pick them higher if not for Dunleavy.)
On the rise:Oklahoma City (Great from 1-3, but very few contenders have a 4/5 as mediocre as Krstic/Green.)Memphis (They have plenty of talent, but can they convert it into wins? Could see them in the playoffs or third-worst.)
Limbo:Golden State (this team was pretty good last year when they had everyone healthy, regardless of personality conflicts. A lot of good young players in an awkward situation.)Houston (A team made entirely out of complementary players; no legit scorer or big man unless they get Mac or Yao back.)Phoenix (I just have a feeling that the wheels are about to come off. Stoudamire is the key, either way. He has to have an MVP caliber season for them to make the playoffs.)
Clearly the bottom two:Minnesota (I don't think anyone on this team can reliably score except Al.)Sacramento (A very young core with no difference makers)

^^a group that took the lakers to 7! im sure they'll be burning up the phones with tmac's contract come the deadline. if there was ever a year you could flip a bad contract into a legit big man, this might be it.
i would be terrified to play these guys if i were a coach, you gotta figure in the west players will basically chill and it could be a trap game every night.

I like their players a lot, so I hope I'm wrong about them.

Clipper rookie Blake Griffin out for as much as six weeks with stress fracture of left knee.
Okay, OKC in the 8 slot.

Lakers/Spurs in yet another Western Conf. Finals
Boston/Orlando in East Finals
Lakers/Boston, Round Whatever in the Finals.
Lakers, repeat.
Kobe, MVP

2009/2010 is an uninteresting year for basketball anyway.
That's why I'm looking ahead to the next interesting event: The next offseason, and specifically, the Miami Heat's Top 5 Dream Line-Ups. Witness No. 1:
1. David Lee, Michael Beasley, LeBron James, D.Wade, Chalmers - Getting Lee to sign for the mid-level exception would be tough...but a lot less tough if you tell him that his running mates are the best two players in the NBA. This team kicks Orlando's ass, punches the Lakers in the nuts, and then storms the White House and starts a dictatorship.
No. 3 works also:
3. Jermaine O'Neal/Tyson Chandler, Chris Bosh, Michael Beasley, DWade, Chalmers - LeBron goes to Knicks or Nets, but at least we get the best big man on the market in Chris Bosh. (In case you're wondering, I hate Amare Stoudemire. I hate his defense. And I even hate his girlfriend. I'm sure she's nice, but how can you date a guy who plays such terrible defense?) This team is a defensive nightmare for other teams and will dominate if Chalmers can knock down open shots.
"This team kicks Orlando's ass, punches the Lakers in the nuts, and then storms the White House and starts a dictatorship." Just beating up The Lakers is enough; I don't need the dictatorship. Might be a nice side-benefit, tho.

Do you really want to punch Artest in the nuts?

naw beas and bosh play the same position - but bosh at center and youve got a wofully undersized frontline - put beasley at sf and well we already saw last year how much worse he is there
not saying bosh wouldnt help but yr really not using yr resources efficiently in that scenario
― ice cr?m, Friday, 30 October 2009 16:56 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, I see that. My theory: Bosh >>>> Beasley, so use Beasley as trade bait, if needed.
Still, these are pretty tantalizing options for Miami.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 30 October 2009 17:05 (fifteen years ago)
tru they could trade beasley - hes likely to put up a pretty sick season <<prediction

The Magic have a much better bench than I'd realized.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Saturday, 31 October 2009 08:54 (fifteen years ago)
yeah the fact that ryan anderson was thrown in the vince carter trade makes that one of the most lopsided trades in awhile.
― Moreno, Saturday, 31 October 2009 14:35 (fifteen years ago)
I think I'd take their bench over Sacto's starting 5.
