consensus has la cleve bos orlando and sa as the contenders - curious to see in sa can stay at all healthy before i elevate them - but anyway i see it something like

1 lakers - bynum big improvement more than compensates for likely slight declines from kobe n lamar - curious to see if artest can regain some of his defensive form
2 orlando - theyre getting a healthy nelson back and carter is a big upgrade over turkoglu - howard should improve and theres no reason to suspect the D wont be just as good - this team is serious - kinda want to pick them to win
3 cavs - lebron needs help man its sort of sad - but then maybe lebron doesnt neeed help eh - prediction: shaq will not at all be able to guard howard even tho thats 100% why they got him
4 prob too old - see what rondo and an improved bench can do but id be superised if they have the legs to really make this happen
5 too old too

anyway im voting boston cause u know

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:43 (fifteen years ago)

lol 4 and 5 are boston and sa

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

Went with the Spurs

am0n, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:46 (fifteen years ago)

I think Shaq and the Cavs is going to be a terrible fit.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:48 (fifteen years ago)

this could easily be the year when shaq falls apart

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:48 (fifteen years ago)

big men tend to lose it fast

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:49 (fifteen years ago)

its like decline decline WTF

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:49 (fifteen years ago)

Plus, one thing I agree with Simmons about is the eerie healing powers of the Suns training staff.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

yeah theyre often sighted as the best in the biz - lol shaq talking abt how his ass was 80% fat before they got a hold of him

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 17:52 (fifteen years ago)

I voted Seattle Unicorns. They are all legends.

Aimless, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

spurs imo

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:19 (fifteen years ago)

chemical ali v. chemical frazier (m bison), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:25 (fifteen years ago)

lakers, cavs, magic, celtics will all be a little worse, spurs got better.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:26 (fifteen years ago)

these aging teams giving it one last go - does it ever work

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

celtics and the spurs imo xp

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

do u like vc or something?

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:29 (fifteen years ago)

i dont love vc but hes better than the 40% shooting no defense turkoglu no question - the big way they got better tho is that jameer nelson is not injured

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:31 (fifteen years ago)

they could give opponents so many matchup problems last year. this year--no matchup problems.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:32 (fifteen years ago)

maybe they broke even

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:33 (fifteen years ago)

If Greg Oden turns into a monster this season, then I will switch my vote to Portland.

this was the conventional wisdom last year - but they werent a great offensive team - they were on the other hand the best defensive team - if they were such a great match up team youd think itd show up in great offensive stats particularly for turkoglu - but theyre just not there

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 18:43 (fifteen years ago)

Lots of guys get better after their rookie season, and he was coming off a foot injury iirc.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:03 (fifteen years ago)

he's also coming off a bones made of candy injury

chemical ali v. chemical frazier (m bison), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:05 (fifteen years ago)

no cure :(

chemical ali v. chemical frazier (m bison), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:05 (fifteen years ago)

sure just saying expecting monster this year is prob a bit too much

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:23 (fifteen years ago)

i bet the cavs go all out to win it with lebron this year & their playoff team does not at all resemble the team they have now

and thus they win

a goon boy (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:25 (fifteen years ago)

like, what if the raptors decide that there is no way they are resigning bosh and thus a trade (maybe a three way) ensues that involves bosh playing out the season with lebronski

(i bet this happens)

a goon boy (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:26 (fifteen years ago)

can't imagine what the cavs could give up to the raps to land bosh. but then that whole gasol to lakers for nuthin thing happened so who knows...

i'm picking orlando to win it all. they have a surprisingly deep bench.

Moreno, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:46 (fifteen years ago)

this could easily be the year when shaq falls apart

To be fair, people have been saying this about O'Neal (he's in rapid decline) since he was traded to Miami.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:48 (fifteen years ago)

He isn't the player he was in Miami, but we essentially would up trading Shaq for Jermaine, and even last year, I'd have happily taken Shaq of the two.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:49 (fifteen years ago)

shaq is losing it slowly but he is losing it. why did cleveland think that getting older and slower was a good idea?

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

Big centers are valuable.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

And he's among the best ever. Not saying Cleveland made a good decision, but -- like Phoenix -- it was an understandable decision (actually moreso than the Suns, since they were such a run-and-gun team).

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

now they have two big slow guys

carne asada, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

my feeling has been that cleveland is deficient on athletes and this isn't any wiser for them than it was for phx

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

If they can play Z and Shaq for 24 minutes a game each, then maybe they can keep them both fresh. But I wonder what they look like when they want to go small.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 27 October 2009 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i like yr thinking here - doubt they could get bosh but maybe someone good - not sure what their expiring contract/draft pick situation is - obvs central to making anything work

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 27 October 2009 20:12 (fifteen years ago)

nagl
