this i don't believe. i think o'neal is desperately concerned with going out on a super high note -- preferably by beating bryant in the finals. he could have signed for more money elsewhere. not that i think he's likely to put boston over-the-top at this stage of his career, but whatevs.

BOSTON — NBA analyst David Aldridge said Wednesday that with the addition of Shaquille O'Neal, the Celtics have vastly improved their chances of leading the league in three-second lane violations for the 2010–2011 season. "Not only does Shaq's presence in the paint give his team more opportunities to turn the ball over, but the Celtics have also added an experienced big man who makes an already old team significantly older," said Aldridge, adding that O'Neal should fill a key role in terms of drastically slowing down the Celtics' offense. "Danny Ainge was looking for someone with size who can't make it down to the other end of the court, and he went out and got the best in the business." He may not entirely solidify the C's, but he can add a lot of viscosity.

celtics are playing so good i was optimistic about jaylen holding up this year but hes been so much better than i thought possible, guys who have barely played in the nba are stepping up big walsh queta minott, gonna hold off on speculating about if they can keep rolling for now lol

if tatum comes back and they trade for a high qual center they could win the east, not sure if tatum coming back is realistic tho doesnt usually happen like that with the very bad injury, and obvs if he does come back hes not going to be near full strength but even a 70% tatum would be a hard to overstate improvement for them at the 4, theyre rolling out bench quality guys at the 4 and 5 when theyre not playing small, they are playing small a lot recently only 21 center minutes in that knicks game despite the knicks having some large guys

for the record i dont think tatum should come back this year, but i do think they should trade for a center as they have simons expiring deal to facilitate it

yeah it is interesting to think about the best ways for them to use this season. a big thing is learning who among the bench/depth guys could be part of a reloaded rotation next year, letting pritchard grow in a bigger role, figuring out if they have anything at all at center that could stick. it would be nice to do those things without running jaylen into the ground but jaylen is clearly enjoying himself a little bit right now and they have to allow that while the team is playing well.

think queta is proving he belongs in their center rotation i still dont totally trust him but he does make a ton of plays, think he could be their backup next year especially considering tatum can play there in spots too

walsh minott and hugo all seem like keepers which is pretty cool, i thought scheierman looked really good at the end of last year but this year not so much so far

queta has been a success story for sure. having both him and jordan walsh play this well as cheap contributors would be huge next year because i think they in particular can complement the starters.

yeah neither of them need to touch the ball to play well, crazy queta was cut by the kings and now the celtics are training him up to have a real role on a good team

thing about queta is hes actually a really talented player super athletic moves extremely well has good touch good hands and a nose for the ball is very tall he just didnt really know how to play basketball that good

they're tied for fifth in the east! i love that in a season where another team might've decided to tank they're instead developing those role players w/serious playing time, maintaining a winning culture -- which means those role players are also going to get playoff experience-- and setting themselves up really nicely for 26-27.
