bowtie is a nice touch for press conference attire.

this year will be fantastic.

Shaq is all smiles because he will earn a few more million dollars for doing little odd jobs here and there. Doc looks grimly serious because Shaq has just executed a cannonball into Doc's swimming pool and now only half the water is left in the pool.

Aimless, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 17:45 (fifteen years ago)

jordan u forgot one crucial point that i dont have to watch rasheed power-walk from 3 pt line to 3 pt line thus the regular season will be less depressing. i know what to expect from fat shaq and he is really fourth/fifth big man on the depth chart and at a min salary and somehow that's less depressing

for real though i think cs will be energized by the finals run and ready for vengeance. injuries were big last year too

clincher is that league pass also means i can watch okc all the time if all else fails

enjoy your day (agent hibachi), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 17:52 (fifteen years ago)

this i don't believe. i think o'neal is desperately concerned with going out on a super high note -- preferably by beating bryant in the finals. he could have signed for more money elsewhere. not that i think he's likely to put boston over-the-top at this stage of his career, but whatevs.

shaq to solidify celtics:

BOSTON — NBA analyst David Aldridge said Wednesday that with the addition of Shaquille O'Neal, the Celtics have vastly improved their chances of leading the league in three-second lane violations for the 2010–2011 season. "Not only does Shaq's presence in the paint give his team more opportunities to turn the ball over, but the Celtics have also added an experienced big man who makes an already old team significantly older," said Aldridge, adding that O'Neal should fill a key role in terms of drastically slowing down the Celtics' offense. "Danny Ainge was looking for someone with size who can't make it down to the other end of the court, and he went out and got the best in the business." Aldridge added that while O'Neal isn't the dominant force he once was, he believes Shaq still has a thing or two to teach teams who think it's a good idea to sign him.

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 14 August 2010 17:14 (fifteen years ago)

He may not entirely solidify the C's, but he can add a lot of viscosity.

Aimless, Saturday, 14 August 2010 18:49 (fifteen years ago)

hahahahaaha guys i just realized, shaq is really fat!

Ruffalo buffalo Ruffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Ruffalo buffalo (m bison), Saturday, 14 August 2010 22:22 (fifteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

on paper and based on my faded memories of his great prime years, boston signing shaq sounds like a very good move. then, you read stuff like this:

SamAmicoNBA Shaq on Mo: "Guys who couldn't even play were worried about shots. Why was Mo (Williams) taking 15 shots, and I'm only taking four?"

if o'neal is complaining about his shots on a 66-win team featuring lebron james, i'm not convinced he'll all of a sudden be a good team player in boston. i imagine if he could work well anywhere, it would be there, given the quality character guys leading the team, but still . . .

The Celtics got in at 2am because their flight got delayed. They were down 2 starters on second half of a back-to-back. Gutsy road win vs. the Cavs.

Pritchard 42 points, one shy of career-high
Walsh's best statistical game: 14 Pts, 11 Rebs
Brown triple-double: 19 Pts, 12 Rebs, 11 Asts

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 December 2025 03:50 (one week ago)

yes

fact checking cuz, Wednesday, 3 December 2025 03:52 (one week ago)

celtics are playing so good i was optimistic about jaylen holding up this year but hes been so much better than i thought possible, guys who have barely played in the nba are stepping up big walsh queta minott, gonna hold off on speculating about if they can keep rolling for now lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 4 December 2025 16:32 (one week ago)

if tatum comes back and they trade for a high qual center they could win the east, not sure if tatum coming back is realistic tho doesnt usually happen like that with the very bad injury, and obvs if he does come back hes not going to be near full strength but even a 70% tatum would be a hard to overstate improvement for them at the 4, theyre rolling out bench quality guys at the 4 and 5 when theyre not playing small, they are playing small a lot recently only 21 center minutes in that knicks game despite the knicks having some large guys

lag∞n, Thursday, 4 December 2025 16:39 (one week ago)

for the record i dont think tatum should come back this year, but i do think they should trade for a center as they have simons expiring deal to facilitate it

lag∞n, Thursday, 4 December 2025 16:46 (one week ago)

yeah it is interesting to think about the best ways for them to use this season. a big thing is learning who among the bench/depth guys could be part of a reloaded rotation next year, letting pritchard grow in a bigger role, figuring out if they have anything at all at center that could stick. it would be nice to do those things without running jaylen into the ground but jaylen is clearly enjoying himself a little bit right now and they have to allow that while the team is playing well.

call all destroyer, Friday, 5 December 2025 02:02 (one week ago)

just beat the wiz by 45 without jaylen

lag∞n, Friday, 5 December 2025 02:22 (one week ago)

think queta is proving he belongs in their center rotation i still dont totally trust him but he does make a ton of plays, think he could be their backup next year especially considering tatum can play there in spots too

lag∞n, Friday, 5 December 2025 02:24 (one week ago)

walsh minott and hugo all seem like keepers which is pretty cool, i thought scheierman looked really good at the end of last year but this year not so much so far

lag∞n, Friday, 5 December 2025 02:27 (one week ago)

haha yes i wrote that post and then checked the score to see them piledriving the wizards.

queta has been a success story for sure. having both him and jordan walsh play this well as cheap contributors would be huge next year because i think they in particular can complement the starters.

call all destroyer, Friday, 5 December 2025 02:31 (one week ago)

yeah neither of them need to touch the ball to play well, crazy queta was cut by the kings and now the celtics are training him up to have a real role on a good team

lag∞n, Friday, 5 December 2025 02:35 (one week ago)

thing about queta is hes actually a really talented player super athletic moves extremely well has good touch good hands and a nose for the ball is very tall he just didnt really know how to play basketball that good

lag∞n, Friday, 5 December 2025 02:38 (one week ago)

they're tied for fifth in the east! i love that in a season where another team might've decided to tank they're instead developing those role players w/serious playing time, maintaining a winning culture -- which means those role players are also going to get playoff experience-- and setting themselves up really nicely for 26-27.

fact checking cuz, Friday, 5 December 2025 02:40 (one week ago)
