TOO SOON.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 18:32 (fourteen years ago)

So hard cos they are basically opposites, minus the winning and being really good parts.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 18:33 (fourteen years ago)

voted kg, feel like hes the best defender of his generation and that puts him over the top

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

Same here, but it was hard, Dirk has me smitten right now.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 18:37 (fourteen years ago)

dirk is vv good, i feel liek theyre both in the convo for 2nd best pf ever

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 18:38 (fourteen years ago)

Also, Dirk was a late bloomer and KG was making heavy impact by his 2nd year.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 18:38 (fourteen years ago)

both came into the league @ 18 right

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

dirk all nba his 3rd year fwiw

do we think dirk can keep motoring at like 20+ and 6+ for the next 3-5 years? he just turned 33...

is my vote

am0n, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 19:02 (fourteen years ago)

kg:
19 during his first season
all universe defender
lead nba in rebounding 4 straight seasons
very good scorer, but always really had to work for it, imo. not "a natural"
excellent shooter for his size, but maybe relied on his j too much.
crazed intensity

dirk:
20 during his first season
average defender
unexceptional rebounder for his height
phenomenal scorer, and a go-to crunch time scorer in a way kg isn't
greatest 7 foot+ shooter of all time
stoicism w/ mouth hanging open

think dirk's lower-impact style is definitely aging better than kg's, but kg still aging remarkably well.

KG tallied some good assists #'s earlier in his career, too. better all-around player.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 14 June 2011 19:26 (fourteen years ago)

iirc, dirk often pwns kg in head to head matchups

Dominique, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 19:50 (fourteen years ago)

Dirk pwns everyone in head to head matchups.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 20:09 (fourteen years ago)

Hard to argue that all-around it isn't KG, but Dirk is such an amazingly unique offensive force that he almost makes it close. Definitely both two of the best forwards ever.

only one of these dudes went on a walkabout to clear his head of media negativity and self-doubt and that's the ace of spades when comparing two individuals imo.

Clay, Friday, 17 June 2011 07:50 (fourteen years ago)

Because their games are so different, their measurements of success have to be quite different, too, making this a sort of apples to oranges situation. So, I took the safe path and voted for Muhammed Ali.

Aimless, Friday, 17 June 2011 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

dirk's career has been more successful...but i guess that's pretty situational

the dude w/ the barea portrait looks like a cross b/w bj novak & erik spoelstra

J0rdan S., Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:22 (fourteen years ago)

i think i'd have to go w/ kg simply because at his peak KG could be a dominant scorer like dirk can (tho in a different fashion) but dirk's defensive/rebounding peak is not near KG's

J0rdan S., Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:23 (fourteen years ago)

that said, if you could assure me a great defensive/rebounding/athletic center i might take dirk

J0rdan S., Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:23 (fourteen years ago)

KG can't touch Dirk on party pix

shannon HOOS of blind melSTEEN (rip van wanko), Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:35 (fourteen years ago)

everyone at KG's parties gets eaten by him at the end, no pix make it out

yeah these are good results

jag goo (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 03:43 (fourteen years ago)

seven months pass...

dirk career PER: 23.6
KG career PER: 23.4

diln (k3vin k.), Friday, 10 February 2012 06:38 (thirteen years ago)

since PER doesn't take defense into account i think that's an incredibly strong argument for KG

J0rdan S., Friday, 10 February 2012 06:40 (thirteen years ago)

yup

diln (k3vin k.), Friday, 10 February 2012 06:41 (thirteen years ago)

i mean it undervalues many aspects of defense more than it 'doesnt take it into account, but yeah

diln (k3vin k.), Friday, 10 February 2012 06:41 (thirteen years ago)
