some of my picks, especially for all-defense, are predictably biased towards playoff teams i watched the most on league pass this year. if someone will pay me to watch the nba for a season it might look differently
― pleural eff u son (k3vin k.), Saturday, 21 April 2012 17:23 (thirteen years ago)
seriously try scoring on any of those teams though

yeah i underrate smith because i refuse to watch the hawks unless i have to tbh
hurt to leave shump out on all-defense too
― pleural eff u son (k3vin k.), Saturday, 21 April 2012 21:03 (thirteen years ago)
I totally forgot about Millsap until I looked up the numbers and then I remembered that basically every time I watch the Jazz he has 3 steals.

he's one of the few people I've seen who has paul #2 - our top 4 are identical actually. like most stat geeks i think Westbrook is generally underrated by the avg fan/media person but he's not in the top 5 for me for mvp
― dharunravir (k3vin k.), Monday, 23 April 2012 18:33 (thirteen years ago)
you guys can play too, i know matt and i aren't the only people here who watch basketball -_-

so simmons has an actual ballot this year - deserved imo. wish he would just write this out instead of it being a podcast tho

only debatable award imo is popp vs thibs for COY
Lebron's MVP is not a cinch bcz most fans love Durant. James, otoh...
― Aimless, Tuesday, 24 April 2012 22:52 (thirteen years ago)
i've gotten the impression over the last few weeks that lebron winning MVP is back to being a foregone conclusion

I just don't see enough of the league to confidently fill an all-defensive second team.
― Clay, Tuesday, 24 April 2012 23:01 (thirteen years ago)
executive of the year?
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 April 2012 23:02 (thirteen years ago)
but lebron is clearly MVP, chandler is dopy, pops will prob win coy as nobody wins those back to back.
don't feel comfortable with Lin as mip since he played, what, 30 games? Not sure who I'd put there tho.

it'd have to be Pek. He went from being a guy who looked like a career 3rd stringer to a top 10 C. I think Ryan Anderson doesn't really have a case because his numbers are virtually identical to last seasons except his usage and minutes went up.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 April 2012 23:09 (thirteen years ago)
Kinda want to give it to Rubio on a lark
― Clay, Tuesday, 24 April 2012 23:11 (thirteen years ago)
In doing some research right now I learned that the Bobcats have lost 21 games in a row, jeeeeeez

coach pops in a walk but really feel like doc/thibs basically tied just behind him and one of them would win in a "regular" pops year, he uncorked something special this year

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/Rookies-120426/nba-rookie-watch-top-honors
thorpe picks faried as the best defensive rookie - he gets his blocks and obv rebounds the shit out of the ball, but from what i've seen he's not a very good defender (yet). not nearly as active on that side of the ball, has trouble with stretch 4s, gets murdered by size. the fact that he overlooked rubio makes it laughable
thorpe is ok though
― dharunravir (k3vin k.), Thursday, 26 April 2012 22:09 (thirteen years ago)
Thorpe is awful and I don't think he watches games.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 26 April 2012 22:47 (thirteen years ago)
Thorpe said that Anthony Davis was a bad fit for Charlotte because they already have Biyombo at center. Try to unwrap all the wrongness of that.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 26 April 2012 22:48 (thirteen years ago)
oh actually he said Davis was a bad fit because it would impede the development of Byron Mullens.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 26 April 2012 22:56 (thirteen years ago)
this is what he said about Biyombo and Davis:
He's competitive, he's unafraid to challenge people on both ends and he should be expected to make huge strides before the season's out. If he performs well enough, the Bobcats won't have to draft a center, unless Anthony Davis is available.
