so excited for FA

J0rdan S., Friday, 21 June 2013 12:57 (twelve years ago)

after seeing what hibbert did to bron, i embarrassingly want the spurs to quixotically pursue dwight howard and basically be like, "hey you wanna win championships bruh?"

battle hyrr of the shepublic (m bison), Friday, 21 June 2013 13:02 (twelve years ago)

we can rebuild him, we can make him not a douche

battle hyrr of the shepublic (m bison), Friday, 21 June 2013 13:02 (twelve years ago)

bise dancin' with the devil itt

Clay, Friday, 21 June 2013 16:05 (twelve years ago)

srsly. spurs imo should just basically be like "we were less than 30 seconds from dethroning the champs. you join us, we guarantee these things: you'll compete for a title. you wont get any national endorsements, you won't get as much press, you won't pay state income tax, tony parker MIGHT try to have sex with your wife, chip engeland will fix your jumpshot, tim duncan will make you a better player, and you will play in a city that eats, breathes, and shits spurs basketball. you win a title, the city will love you forever." they can make that same promise to josh smith too afaic.

i wonder what things will look like now that a million teams have cap space to go after major FA's.

Omg this celtics implosion is gonna be incredible isn't it

I predict doc sits out the rest of his contract, he obv has a spot waiting for him next to Breen & jvg

This triggers KG's retirement

That triggers PP demanding a trade and... Morey picks him up for a pittance to provide some veteran swag

Rondo throws thousands of no-look bounce passes off the hands of Courtney Lee and a bunch of scrubs

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Saturday, 22 June 2013 13:25 (twelve years ago)

m bise I know you're just spitballing re Dwight but I think a city that lives and dies with its basketball team is exactly what he can't handle

curry video was nice

Nhex, Saturday, 22 June 2013 18:24 (twelve years ago)

Curry's mechanics are great, but the speed of his stop, rise and release seems to be what sets him apart.

Aimless, Saturday, 22 June 2013 18:27 (twelve years ago)

Woj is reporting that the clippers have agreed to give up an unprotected 2015 first rounder for Rivers lol

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 June 2013 21:38 (twelve years ago)

I still say this coach trading business is total shenanigans

Clay, Sunday, 23 June 2013 21:48 (twelve years ago)

lol c's are starting the tanking right at the top, i'm on board

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Sunday, 23 June 2013 23:58 (twelve years ago)

i don't remember a coach ever forcing a trade before- is this unprecedented?

boston media is gonna rip him to pieces but nat'l media will totally get in the bag for him after he turns on the charm at the press conference

i reserve the right to change my mind but i'm all for it, if doc really is only going to coach for a couple more years before he retires to spend more time with family (aka espn checks) then i probably wouldn't want to go 27-55 with rondo and a bunch of garbage either

rondo must be an all-time a-hole if he'd rather go coach chris paul tho

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 24 June 2013 00:02 (twelve years ago)

trading a first-round pick for a coach seems completely wacky to me

call all destroyer, Monday, 24 June 2013 00:02 (twelve years ago)

q: does this mean the KG to clips talks are back on? and that the cut paul so he can sign with the clips is back on? im confused.

battle hyrr of the shepublic (m bison), Monday, 24 June 2013 00:03 (twelve years ago)

according to Marc Stein the NBA will not allow a separate deal for KG, but the Rivers deal will happen anyway. Presumably KG will be dealt somewhere else.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 June 2013 00:04 (twelve years ago)

what the hell

first round pick sounda nuts but if the clippers play they way they expect to the next 2 seasons itll be in the 25ish range.. ainge is banking on the clippers turning into a shitpile lol.

panettone for the painfully alone (mayor jingleberries), Monday, 24 June 2013 17:15 (twelve years ago)

yeah the clips are deep enough that a late 1st round pick probably wont hurt hem

k3vin k., Monday, 24 June 2013 17:27 (twelve years ago)

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that the Chicago Bulls, in their latest attempt to gauge the trade value of All-Star swingman Luol Deng, have had exploratory discussions with Washington about a deal that would land Deng with the Wizards and bring the No. 3 pick in Thursday's draft to the Bulls.

Clay, Monday, 24 June 2013 18:03 (twelve years ago)

the wizards are gonna fucking do that trade aren't they

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 June 2013 18:18 (twelve years ago)

hmmmm. dieng for deng? daaaaaaaannng.

Sufjan Grafton, Monday, 24 June 2013 18:21 (twelve years ago)

why would the Wizards do that

Nhex, Monday, 24 June 2013 18:26 (twelve years ago)

because their front office is delusional

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 June 2013 18:29 (twelve years ago)

wiz reasonably might see themselves as a piece away from "competing" (read: getting the seventh spot) in the mercurial East and so why get younger maybe, idk

XP ha yes delusion is the short version

Clay, Monday, 24 June 2013 18:31 (twelve years ago)

If I worked in the wiz front office, being delusional would be the kindest possble gift of fate.

Aimless, Monday, 24 June 2013 18:41 (twelve years ago)

Apparently the Wiz would be giving up the 3rd pick AND Okafor?

Deng and Okafor have roughly the same PER and their salaries are the same per year.

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Wednesday, 2 October 2013 06:31 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, figured they were set to come out of the WC for like the next fiver years. Never been a Russ booster but, the way their team is constructed, they're not going anywhere w/o him.

Don't really follow OKC that closely-- is there any indication that Ibaka can shoulder 2nd option duties? Seems like he made some improvements last year, and he seems like a dude who could be due for more usage. That said, I guess Russ is as valuable as a penetrating pg as he was a scorer, so everyone's shots will be a little tougher w/o him.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Wednesday, 2 October 2013 12:02 (twelve years ago)

in the video preview thing on grantland simmons was advocating for okc to trade for dragic, decent idea i think

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 13:12 (twelve years ago)

i'm excited to take the chinatown bus from philly to nyc w/ royce white this season

乒乓, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 13:23 (twelve years ago)

ibaka really shit his pants on offense after russ went out in the playoffs last year iirc, dude's an athlete so i won't say never but it seems like he's more suited to be a 3rd banana

k3vin k., Wednesday, 2 October 2013 13:56 (twelve years ago)

yeah hes just not a creator, solid player, but def a lil over hyped

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 14:04 (twelve years ago)

iirc russ feeds him a lot of buckets

乒乓, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 14:05 (twelve years ago)

Pumped to see the first month of Love/Rubio and Gordon/Davis. Wouldn't be surprised to see both teams improve 15+ games this year.

Esp. Pelicans, as it's been like a generation since Eric Gordon played, and this will be the first season for Davis to show off franchise player potential. And now that they have a real deal pg to distribute, should be fun to watch.

Just in general, so many all-star caliber players coming back after major injuries, keeping fingers crossed that most of them stay on the court / shake off rust quickly.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Wednesday, 2 October 2013 14:25 (twelve years ago)

Like I can't really remember Gordon ever playing an NBA game at this point.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Wednesday, 2 October 2013 14:26 (twelve years ago)

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 2 October 2013 14:51 (twelve years ago)

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 2 October 2013 14:52 (twelve years ago)

good move

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 14:53 (twelve years ago)

remember when everyone thought presti was a genius because he was right on a couple draft picks

k3vin k., Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:02 (twelve years ago)

Does Perk, losing Harden, and signing Martin make it three straight stinkers?

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:17 (twelve years ago)

Hard to know that Perk would go from being one of the more sought after bigs to maybe he shouldn't be in the league any more in like one years time.

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:20 (twelve years ago)

he let martin walk iirc

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:20 (twelve years ago)

he did build a finals team from scratch

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:22 (twelve years ago)

like half their roster from that year fits that definition xp

乒乓, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:23 (twelve years ago)

where are they now: eddie house, leon powe, james posey, glen davis

乒乓, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:23 (twelve years ago)

well those are all bench guys, by definition not good enough to start, not really the same thing, and only house and posey, who both had long nba careers, got any burn in the playoff

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:25 (twelve years ago)

the harden trade was really bad but every single thunder fan should be incensed that their oil baron owners refuse to go into the tax (or into it significantly) in order to give a championship core the best chance to win. presti's real problem is getting stuck with clay bennett.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:30 (twelve years ago)

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/poseyja01.html

wonder what kind of contract the hornetspelicans signed him to

glen davis has surprisingly improved since leaving the celtics

乒乓, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:31 (twelve years ago)

5 years full midlevel iirc, it was a big controversy in boston the celtics letting him walk even tho it was obvs the right move

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:33 (twelve years ago)

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:38 (twelve years ago)

would be sad to see durant stranded there out of some misplaced loyalty

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:39 (twelve years ago)

assuming of course the team is bad enough to get stranded on

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:40 (twelve years ago)

i thought clay bennett was some kind of hedge fund manager, in which case he should be used to losing money *rimshot*

as far as i'm concerned every week he keeps perkins is another strike against him

k3vin k., Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:44 (twelve years ago)

yeah even free spending teams wouldve amnestyed him by now

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:45 (twelve years ago)

how lucrative are nba tv rights?

乒乓, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:46 (twelve years ago)

i think the indications are that the thunder ownership don't want to pay perkins to play for another team

i don't think presti is clinging to him

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 2 October 2013 15:46 (twelve years ago)

though they should probably sit down with scott brooks and talk about perk's usage
