this will finally be the year they give the title to a division

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 25 October 2013 23:56 (eleven years ago)

ROY: Oladipo
MVP: LeBron
CoY: Tyrone Corbin (team that outperformed expectations award)
DPoY: Larry Sanders
MIP: Jonas Valanciunas

Bill Simmons will forget that there is no comeback player of the year award, 2 players will have dick pic scandals, Oden will suffer a season ending injury by Christmas, Bargnani as starter will be a total trainwreck, no star player will test positive for PEDs.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 26 October 2013 00:08 (eleven years ago)

is there a vegas line on lebron winning mvp. i just really doubt it

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Saturday, 26 October 2013 00:28 (eleven years ago)

LeBron is the fave online. Funnily enough he pays out a lot on Bovada.

mvp lebron

bulls best reg season record in the east, jimmy butler and derrick rose average 47.5 min/game
clips best record in the west and get bounced by spurs

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 28 October 2013 22:22 (eleven years ago)

sixers flirt with worst record ever for a full season but spencer hawes goes into full america fuck yeah beast mode against playoff teams resting their starters in april and racks up the crucial tenth win

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 28 October 2013 22:24 (eleven years ago)

anderson varajao and greg oden both out before thanksgiving

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 28 October 2013 22:24 (eleven years ago)

oh yeah rookie of the year oladipo and it's not close

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 28 October 2013 22:25 (eleven years ago)

I think Ben mclemore is my roy pick too much synergy there

Clay, Monday, 28 October 2013 23:02 (eleven years ago)

i think he's gonna one of the best guys from this draft within a year or two but that sg/sf rotation in sacramento looks like a car crash to me unless they make a trade or he emerges immediately

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 28 October 2013 23:33 (eleven years ago)

Oladipo is just crushing it so far, hard to pick against him

rookie of the year mcw lol after one game

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 October 2013 14:29 (eleven years ago)

I voted Miami for the chip, but if Wade's body is as shot as his first couple of games hint, then the door is pretty wide open. As for filling out 2014 playoff brackets, I am stumped, so I will play the coward's part and abstain. Too much upheaval on rosters this year. Picking the crappiest teams seems much simpler this time around. Philly. Toronto. Phoenix. Kings. Charlotte. LAL.

Aimless, Thursday, 31 October 2013 18:56 (eleven years ago)

betting against wades health is like half of what informed my bulls pick, the other half is its no fun to pick the heat

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 October 2013 18:58 (eleven years ago)

I follow the blazers mostly, so I'll venture an opinion there. If their starters stay healthy, then a 45-37 season, just barely squeezing into the last seed in the WC. If any of their starters has to sit for more than 3 or 4 games, they'll slip further down and miss the playoffs entirely.

Aimless, Saturday, 2 November 2013 17:42 (eleven years ago)

btw, it seems like the eastern conference has finally leveled up, with more young rising stars and the western conference has slipped down. East could post a winning record against western conference teams this year.

Aimless, Saturday, 2 November 2013 18:03 (eleven years ago)

nah, the east is super top-heavy. 4 very good teams, the knicks, then a bunch of trash

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Saturday, 2 November 2013 18:06 (eleven years ago)

Western team's front offices seem to be streets ahead of most east teams. Cleveland will be better than trash, tho.

Aimless, Saturday, 2 November 2013 18:17 (eleven years ago)

can't believe i left out the wolves in the west, what was i thinking

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:27 (eleven years ago)

man i never saw this thread

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:28 (eleven years ago)

xp Safe enough bet tho, I'm sure 60% of their roster will suffer season ending injuries soon enough.

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:29 (eleven years ago)

i don't think the heat will win it this year but i'm having trouble putting a finger on who might

i think brooklyn has a real shot as well as indiana... i don't think the bulls have enough shooting

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:29 (eleven years ago)

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:36 (eleven years ago)

now that i've typed that out, that looks awful

i still think the clippers have a good shot at not making the west finals depending on their match up, we shall see

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:37 (eleven years ago)

MVP, lebron
DPOY, hibbert
ROY, cody zeller
6th man, jj redick
coach, rick adleman

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:41 (eleven years ago)

i think okc is gonna be a huge disappointment this year, no way do they get out of the west imo

your east is bonkers but that's so tough to predict. raptors tho??

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:42 (eleven years ago)

Redick is ridic right now, seems like such a perfect fit.

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:42 (eleven years ago)

redick is starting doggie

adelman is a good choice

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:42 (eleven years ago)

Agree w Kev re OKC

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:43 (eleven years ago)

feel REALLY good about the cp3 pick btw, if the clips end up with the #1 seed and paul plays half as well as he's playing now, i don't see how anyone else could win it

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:44 (eleven years ago)

west is a bit of a cypher this year, like could the warriors win it, yeah sure why not

lag∞n, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:45 (eleven years ago)

(bron may still be the best player but i just don't see the guy winning 5 MVPs in 6 years)

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:45 (eleven years ago)

i think people are underrating OKC cuz they flamed out without westbrook the last time anyone was paying attention to them

also i think presti isn't gonna sit pat with this team and will make a real move at some point

but mostly i'm betting on two of the 10 best players in the nba, might be too early for them though

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:45 (eleven years ago)

would LOVE to see cp3 mvp

lag∞n, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:45 (eleven years ago)

if redick is starting then put drummond in there

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:45 (eleven years ago)

west is a bit of a cypher this year, like could the warriors win it, yeah sure why not

If the Warriors stay healthy this team is 1-2 seed, no homer.

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:46 (eleven years ago)

i feel pretty confident in someone taking down the heat this year, but that's about it

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:49 (eleven years ago)

i mostly know nothing though... i feel like any of the top 6 teams could come out of the west

i'm also confident in portland making the playoffs and denver falling out, but i've made those points before

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:51 (eleven years ago)

yeah i mean the heat probably have as good a shot as anyone but this year there's like 8 or 9 real-deal contenders, the chances just aren't great. but then again if wade can somehow not fall apart in the playoffs again they're gonna be the faves

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:51 (eleven years ago)

denver def out

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:51 (eleven years ago)

i want to see denver at full strength for a week or so before i give up on them, but i'm leaning toward agreeing with you there

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:51 (eleven years ago)

wade is gonna fall apart again

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:54 (eleven years ago)

Always hard to judge the spurs you know? Like every year for the last 5 years its been like ok THIS IS THE YEAR they finally decline idk.

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:54 (eleven years ago)

Eh the heat are better with wades on the bench :)

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:55 (eleven years ago)

they were when they had mike miller

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:57 (eleven years ago)

one thing that's gonna kill the heat this year imo is punting the draft since the beginning of the big 3 and filling the roster out with super old vets and not taking a flyer on developing a young 3 and D guy

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:58 (eleven years ago)

yeah always a mistake

lag∞n, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 18:59 (eleven years ago)

if they had worked at it from the jump they could have their own jimmy butler by now!

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:03 (eleven years ago)

i mean those dudes don't just grow on trees, idk. riley's plan has worked pretty well so far

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:09 (eleven years ago)

If the Warriors stay healthy this team is 1-2 seed, no homer.

If the Clippers win the division then the Dubs can't be higher than a 4, right?

polyphonic, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:20 (eleven years ago)

yeah true damn

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:22 (eleven years ago)

naw they changed that rule, now division winners are just assured one of the top 4 spots

lag∞n, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:22 (eleven years ago)

So one random 2nd place team could be higher than two division winners? That's cool but also weird. Why does the NBA even have divisions at this point.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:32 (eleven years ago)

ya h8 divisions and conferences so dumb, w that extra team in the top four the seeding usually works out right especially since the team w best record gets home court regardless so like if the 4/5 are flip flopped it doesn't matter

lag∞n, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:38 (eleven years ago)

Has the 3/6 flip flopped, that would be dope.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:41 (eleven years ago)

conferences make sense imo, divisions are completely pointless

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:44 (eleven years ago)

the problem w conferences is imho that half the time you have the two best teams playing in the conference championship instead of the finals

lag∞n, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 20:26 (eleven years ago)

yeah tru

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 20:29 (eleven years ago)

de facto title tho eh

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 20:30 (eleven years ago)

isnt that the same as in all the major sports though? only difference being its not a geographical divide in mlb/nfl

ciderpress, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 20:32 (eleven years ago)

yeah its a bad idea in those sports too

lag∞n, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 20:38 (eleven years ago)

there's no real reason for sports to have conferences but i do feel like leagues need some sort of organizational structure

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 20:44 (eleven years ago)

but like in the nba, even diehard fans have no idea which team is in which division

that's totally different than the nfl or mlb

espn.com's default standings page in the nba displays by conference

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 20:45 (eleven years ago)

three months pass...

New York Knicks 1
Orlando Magic 1

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 March 2014 04:13 (eleven years ago)
