The ambiguity of the question is causing me too much cognitive dissonance.

what is ambiguous? lance stephenson should try to physically injure dwyane wade during this series, and early in it, in order to help indiana win the conference finals and perhaps achieve the side-benefit of ending wade's career.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 17 May 2014 19:53 (eleven years ago)

the only ambiguity is how stephenson should go about it.

  • kick wade's knee
  • stick a knife in wade's knee
  • shoot wade with a handgun in his knee
  • shove a shard of glass into wade's knee
endless possibilities for eagle-scout lance stephenson.

what's the issue with wade? if it's that his next contract, coming this summer, will be an anchor around the heat's neck, i get it.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 17 May 2014 20:46 (eleven years ago)

it's not fun to watch him play, he's overly selfish on the court and he frequently nearly costs the heat playoff games

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 17 May 2014 20:47 (eleven years ago)

that's all kind of true. it used to be very fun to watch him play, tho.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 17 May 2014 20:50 (eleven years ago)

it used to be really fun to watch him play as recently as two years ago. now all he does is shoot mid range jumpers that don't come within the flow of the offense.

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 17 May 2014 20:53 (eleven years ago)

stephenson is such a punk. the case was eventually dismissed, but the facts alleged against him for pushing his girlfriend down a flight of stairs was just egregious. to be fair, case was dismissed; maybe he was wrongly accused.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 17 May 2014 20:55 (eleven years ago)

wade has been in indefensible near-cheat for a decade, pretty much defined the harden school of the drive-flop as the crux on his offensive game, his on court demeanor is smug and awful, and has been cooked for two or three years.

he is producing a sitcom based on his own life.

also he calls himself "three"

Clay, Saturday, 17 May 2014 21:04 (eleven years ago)

truth

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 17 May 2014 21:06 (eleven years ago)

the idea of wade as a linchpin for a championship team in 2014 is kinda funny though

Clay, Saturday, 17 May 2014 21:15 (eleven years ago)

what is ambiguous?

We know Lance's intention is that Dwayne Wade's injured knee will get much worse during the series. But if Lance accomplishes this purely through the legitimate means of requiring Wade to work his knee harder than it can stand, merely through Wade's efforts to keep up with him on the court, then one could say Lance has fulfilled his intention to injure Wade. I would view this as an acceptable bit of hoops strategy, which Lance 'should' pursue.

otoh, if Lance pulled a Tonya Harding on Wade's knee with a length of pipe, I can't really endorse that.

Finally, if Lance were to dive for a loose ball while Wade happened to be in the way, and he did it in such a way as to intentionally cripple Wade, while disguising his intention as merely being scrappy and aggressive, then that's pretty disgusting -- and an action worthy of Wade himself.

Dear me! How to vote?

king of chin-stroking banality (Aimless), Saturday, 17 May 2014 21:38 (eleven years ago)

dwyane wade: literally worse than chris paul

micah, Saturday, 17 May 2014 21:47 (eleven years ago)

Chris Paul is that kid from the drug commercials yelling "I learned it from you" while wade pretends he was gonna chuck it from half-court on a routine clock-stopping foul

Clay, Saturday, 17 May 2014 21:50 (eleven years ago)

desperately awaiting wade's "response", heartfelt sports writer histories of beefs in the playoffs, and references to this tweet any time wade or lance score a point/go to the bench

micah, Saturday, 17 May 2014 21:52 (eleven years ago)

voted "not intentionally"; PLAY 2 WIN YO

solid assessment. it's a hard call, really.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 17 May 2014 22:05 (eleven years ago)

Wade can get the pipe

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Saturday, 17 May 2014 22:55 (eleven years ago)

i do not even know what that means?

dwyane wade: lance stephenson want to injure you.
