Ben's close to acquiring a ring and Kristy's close to acquiring that third chin.
Advantage: Steelers.

Also: CREEEEEEPY to think of someone blowing up your seventh grade dance photo and writing "THANKS FOR THE DANCE" on it and holding it up in public.

And now, a glimpse into the private life of Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger: Saying, "I have no personal life," he admitted that it's now so difficult to go out in public it's easier to meet women on the Internet than in person. And the worst part about being at the Super Bowl? Leaving his Rottweiler, Zeus, at home. "If I could have my dog here it would be perfect, but Coach Cowher wouldn't let me bring him," he said.

I don't understand why the article doesn't tell us where to find Big Ben online. I am considering going to his blog and leaving a link to the board but I will wait until after the Super Bowl, because I don't want my comment to get buried in a cavalcade of middle aged ladies scoping his buttwishing him luck in the game.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 21:27 (eighteen years ago) link

do you think Ben eagerly talked about bringing Zeus along to the Super Bowl in front of the guys and they all regarded him with quiet sympathy as Cowher had to gently take him into the office, where he told Ben the news. of course the others couldn't hear the news, but when Ben lowered his head and bit his quivering lower lip, they knew all too well: the dog stayed home.

BETTIS: Are you gay?

ROETHLISBERGER: Gay? I wish! If I were gay they'd be no problem! No, what I have is a romantic abnormality, one so unbelievable that it must be hidden from the public at all cost. You see...

BETTIS: Stop!

I am disappointed to know that he plans to shave the beard after the game. Maybe if they win, he will keep it? He will be like the reverse Polamalu.

I found some other blogs:

WHY
12/13/05

Sometimes bad things happen at times when everything seems to going great, to see how you will respond. Well for me this is the time I am being challenged, not by anyone but me to see how quick and can recover to help my team get to the SUPERBOWL. I would like to thank all the fans who have wrote with concern with my injury, and I will say this as depressed or down I was reading those comments brought nothing but smiles to my face. For once I feel people are starting to appreciate the things I do on and off the field. Well, back to business and NY GIANTS lets get those towels waving and energy pumping in this stadium this weekend for another G MAN VICTORY..

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 23:08 (eighteen years ago) link

It's not just his caps lock that got stuck. It's like he got brain damage or something.

Green's blog is kind of sad, the way he basically just didn't post a damn thing during the season and has come back last week to chat about his film interests.

Finding My Way in Philly
05/03/04

I think I am having a little problem finding my way around the building. Other than that, once I step on the field, it is something that is natural to me. Obviously, I have to get my timing down with the offense and develop some chemistry with Donovan McNabb. Once I step on the field, I just go play. It is different playing with a new team. It was definitely refreshing. I have a new start. I feel I will be able to accomplish some things personally and as a team, we have all the people to make some things happen. We have to take it one practice at a time, one day at a time, and one week at a time. This is just the beginning, the start of mini-camp. I am looking forward to bigger and better things for me. This is a first-class organization all the way across the board. This is the standpoint for which a lot of teams are trying to get to. I remember when I first went to the 49ers, they kind of held the ball in those regards, but now this is what the Eagles are all about. The offense here is very similar. I looked over everything last night. There are some new wrinkles here and there in the verbiage. Other than that I am comfortable. There is nothing that I see that is different. The offense is pretty wide open. For the West Coast offense, for a receiver, I don't have to go in and say I have to catch 100 balls or have a 1,000 receiving yards. If you are doing what you are supposed to be doing in the West Coast offense and you are the primary guy, then those numbers will come. My ability after I catch the ball, that is the icing on the cake.

BRILLIANT!!

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Thursday, 2 February 2006 21:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Ben's apparently letting someone else type or something; the whole tenor of the "gameweek" blog is different than what we're used to.
Here's hoping he doesn't go all corporate. I need my Zeus updates.

Tangent: what was up with the lack of Roffles acknowledgement at the SB end? Everybody loves Bettis and, yeah, Hines had a killer night, but Roffs is the youngest QB to W a SB ever. Where is the love (two interceptions aside)?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 6 February 2006 21:20 (eighteen years ago) link

after that second interception everyone in western pennsylvania had a horrible vision of neil o'donnell

These are Ben's direct thoughts and reflections on the day, as transcribed by his agent, Ryan Tollner. Ryan is with Ben in Detroit all week. Ben will continue to provide photos from his cell phone for everyone to enjoy.

THURSDAY

As the game gets closer, our focus narrows. Thursday's practice was a good one. We were able to accomplish what we needed to, as our coaches have done a great job preparing. The media requirements were a little less today (but always some), and most of the team is choosing to relax at night. Not much to report on my end unfortunately... just trying to soak it all in and do what I need to do to be ready for Sunday. It's a fun atmosphere in Detroit. You can really sense an excitement in everyone, just being here. I am looking forward to seeing my family soon. Tomorrow will be a lighter practice, and Saturday is a walkthrough. Okay, enough for today. I know, not terribly insightful, but I guess I'm daydreaming about some big game or something... ha ha. I hope you all are getting ready for Sunday. If your having a party, stock up on some of my BBQ sauce or Beef Jerky. You can buy them both from my site, and their the best you'll find. At least I think so. Gotta go. Your friend, Ben
