Cameron sounds terrible in his post-game conference.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:43 (sixteen years ago) link

completely meaningless game. beck looked really good again considering circumstances. it would have been nice to win, but we aren't going winless. we will beat the jets or the ravens.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:46 (sixteen years ago) link

I love how he was trying to rationalize not attempting the FG the second time---when Feely had better turf to kick from!!---and, instead, going for it on 4th and 11. MORANS!

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Worst game of all time?

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Beck didn't do bad at all. considering he ran out of running backs and had very bad footing, I was pretty impressed.

Cam is going to have shit smeared over his front door tomorrow morning.

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:49 (sixteen years ago) link

We can beat the Jets. Can't see us beating the Ravens.

this was beyond retarded. if anything they should ahve just pooched it. the ball was stopping dead where it landed, it would have been a cinch to get it inside the 7. no way pitt was going 90 yards.

i thought it was a pretty fun game to watch. since the field was fucked it added a pretty fun little element to the game. a 13-9 titans/raiders game in perfect conditions is much more worse game ever than this.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:51 (sixteen years ago) link

I have to think if we still had Trent we'd maybe be 2-9, or 3-8.

or hell, Ronnie. by week 17 we're going to have Ki-Jana Carter at running back

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:52 (sixteen years ago) link

i'm really serious about the dolphins beating the ravens. remember i'm saying this. the ravens are really, really awful. this year, they've beat the jets by 7, the cards by 3, san fran by 2 and st. louis before they were healthy by 19. we really could win the game (it's at home btw).

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:54 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah if ronnie was around we'd have won a game by now.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Technically Miami's offense has yet to score a TD with John Beck. Last week was with Ginn on a return!

also about the Ravens, I don't see why we can't beat them--I'm with j0rdan on this one.

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:56 (sixteen years ago) link

Offffff. I dunno..If we don't beat the Jets next week, look out below.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:57 (sixteen years ago) link

i mean you can't really count the pitt game in there. we had 4 plays from the 1 against the iggles, so i guess we've "scored" w/o scoring. if cameron had just called a run play up the middle or something on 4th and 1 from the goalline we wouldn't be having this discussion.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:58 (sixteen years ago) link

oh I'm in no way blaming Beck. if anything I think Cameron's babying him too...and being stupid. which he's apparently good at.

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:59 (sixteen years ago) link

at buffalo isn't totally out of the question, i guess.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:59 (sixteen years ago) link

i think cam's done a decent job with him, in terms of like, letting him throw on third downs and stuff and not running draws and screens on 3rd & 9 or what have you. cam makes like 2 or 3 really boneheaded decisions a game, but i'm willing to give two years, tbh. he inhereted a truly awful team, took his guys, and he's playing them. he deserves time, not to mention firing him after 2 years really isn't gonna do much unless you're hiring andy reid or bill cowher or something.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:01 (sixteen years ago) link

well are those rumors still out there about him being a candidate for a college job?

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:03 (sixteen years ago) link

i guess but i can't imagine many college fanbases would feel good about getting a coach with a career 0-11 record, so i can't imagine that he'll be hired.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:05 (sixteen years ago) link

yea but it's the NFL...success in the two are often exclusive. he was winless when they first approached him too :)

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:06 (sixteen years ago) link

no i know but you get what i'm saying.

"hey look we know the guy won exactly no games in the nfl but he's really gonna be good at this college thing, we swear!" etc.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Yea. I dunno, part of me thinks Cam is just more suited to be a coordinator. I wonder if Miami would have acted different if they know Marty would be available.

Not that that would have made a world of difference, I mean, Miami being 'bad' this year wasn't a huge surprise. Being THIS bad was.

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:11 (sixteen years ago) link

That's the worst thing, though. Miami's not stupid bad, they're just unlucky bad. And an unlucky team is always more painful to watch than one that just sucks outright.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Problem is they thought their defense would hold up forever.

I still find it funny that Beck has Fiedler's number. talk shit about Fiedler all you want, dude played on winning teams and he did pull out some crazy comebacks

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:23 (sixteen years ago) link

i don't think miami is "that" bad. as i've stated on this thread before, i think we are only two or three players away from being competitve. we all know the stats on how close the games have been. if dude from texans hadn't made the longest kick of the year, if player x had caught y pass etc. etc.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:24 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah and he made the playoffs and even won a game. i like dude.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:24 (sixteen years ago) link

yea but some of that is misleading to a degree.

It took a frantic comeback from 18 down to make the Jets game a three point affair, which still hinged on an onside that we didn't recover. and that Giants game, we didn't close the gap until 3 until late as well despite the Giants practically insisting on giving them the game.

certainly this team isn't the 1990 Patriots or the 1991 Colts but they've had some atrocious games. I think we are many players away from being a .500 team. Fortunately the NFL is the type of league where quick turnarounds happen frequently...and supposedly we have a lot of cap room next year.

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 05:32 (sixteen years ago) link

pete carrol was a mediocre pro coach, seems to have done alright at usc. some guys are just cut out for the college game (i'm looking at you steve spurrier).

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 15:24 (sixteen years ago) link

The Dolphins aren't going to beat the Ravens without a healthy running back. Even Chatman is banged up.

If the Raiders weren't such dicks they might give up Rhodes or Jordan, but instead they'd rather fight for those important wins to ensure a shittier draft pick.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 18:22 (sixteen years ago) link

but instead they'd rather fight for those important wins to ensure a shittier draft pick

they'll still get a great pick at a lower cost. contracts increase exponentially in the top 8 or so.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 18:30 (sixteen years ago) link

True enough.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 19:10 (sixteen years ago) link

that and the fact that the trade deadline ended almost a month ago and the only way it could happen is waivers.

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 00:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Aaaaaaand Ricky's done for the year.
This is some Brady Bunch tiki curse shit.

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 07:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Waivers isn't out of the question. Saving a bunch of money is a pretty good reason to waive someone when you have no chance, and you have an expensive dude sitting on the bench behind a bunch of younger guys.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 08:00 (sixteen years ago) link

not very likely in the case of those players.

Ricky done for the year?

That has to be the shortest lived comeback ever. Even Priest Holmes lasted a few weeks.

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 13:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, Ricky lasted 5 carries.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:17 (sixteen years ago) link

Is it time to call in a priest yet?

SeekAltRoute, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 00:19 (sixteen years ago) link

How bad is Miami? They lose by their biggest point differential of the year to a woeful team that, aside from playing the Dolphins, is 1 -- 9. They made an inexperienced, backup quarterback look like a star. They couldn't amass 50 yards rushing against perhaps the worst run defense in the league. They left their own rookie quarterback -- who looked terrible -- to be savaged by a poor defensive line, via a pourous pass protection. They haven't scored an offensive touchdown in 11 quarters. Their totally biased hometown announcer said "When Miami has the ball, it looks confused and powerless." Their coach again mismanaged the clock.

Okay, that's enough. Yes, it's time to call a priest. It's sad. Miami is a proud franchise. What's worse, we're going to go 0 -- 16 the same year another team (and a former rival, when we were competitive) is about to go 16 -- 0 to best Miami's 1972 accomplishment.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 4 December 2007 01:38 (sixteen years ago) link

I was at this game on Sunday.

I want my money back.

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 23:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Seriously though, Cam is still mismanaging this team.

Beck playing the way he did, hell, what do you expect from a rookie in his third start? He unraveled after he made a bad read on the first pick.

But would CAm just take the training wheels off? Seriously, you're winless. What do you care if he throws a pick once in a while?

Beck also needs a TE to throw to. Martin sucks, Peele is sometimes alright.

Why the hell did we start a running back who could barely move when every paper seemed to predict he wouldn't play?

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 23:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Ok. I am going to the local bar AGAIN to watch them. At this stage the charade is feeling tired but I'm still wearing my jersey out in public.

This morning I feel so bad about the season I'm watching old game footage just to remember what winning feels like!

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Sunday, 9 December 2007 15:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Ha! Beck gets yanked and, in just two snaps, Cleo Lemon looks like a pro bowler.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 9 December 2007 18:50 (sixteen years ago) link

, Cleo Lemon looks like a pro bowler.

Uh, no.

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 9 December 2007 19:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Well yeah, the next drive sort of returned the universe to normal.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 9 December 2007 19:52 (sixteen years ago) link

@!%*@#

The Miami Dolphins confirmed they are the worst team in football this season -- and maybe ever -- by making Buffalo's popgun offense and banged-up defense look spectacular in dropping their 13th straight game.

(emphasis mine).

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 9 December 2007 22:00 (sixteen years ago) link

what if it's true?

J0rdan S., Sunday, 9 December 2007 22:19 (sixteen years ago) link

this incarnation might be. if green and ronnie weren't hurt i think they'd probably have at least 1 win.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 9 December 2007 22:20 (sixteen years ago) link

J0rdan, this can't be the first time the idea has crossed your mind.

We very well may be the worst team ever, maybe even including expansion teams. We are very, very -- very -- bad.

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 9 December 2007 22:27 (sixteen years ago) link

i honestly never considered that we might be the worst team ever. if and when we end up going 0-16 i guess it'll probably inarguable.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 9 December 2007 22:46 (sixteen years ago) link

sucks that that loss to houston was on the longest field goal by any kicker this year.
