I was really excited about the Capital One Bowl until I went and looked at ticket prices. As it stands, they're too pricy right now. I'll check StubHub again in about a week or two and see what's out there then.

HA!
Every SEC coach voted Auburn #1 this past week, even other coaches who formerly worked at and were fired by Auburn voted Auburn #1 this past week (including Tuberville). But who didn't? Urban Meyer.
That dude is an asshole no matter how you look at it.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 04:41 (thirteen years ago) link
Every other SEC coach, I should say.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 04:42 (thirteen years ago) link
urban meyer resigns, again
― johnny crunch, Wednesday, 8 December 2010 20:52 (thirteen years ago) link
i would find this to be the most hilarious thing ever if miami wasn't trying to hire a coach too
― gimme schefter (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 8 December 2010 20:53 (thirteen years ago) link
dave wannstedt available would be good fit for gators imo
― Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 8 December 2010 22:40 (thirteen years ago) link
Wannstedt is garbage imo
― macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Wednesday, 8 December 2010 23:54 (thirteen years ago) link
wannstadt would fail miserably @ uf hence i fully support him going there
― johnny crunch, Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:00 (thirteen years ago) link
I'd feel really bad for Mississippi State if Dan Mullen leaves after just two seasons to take the UF job (makes sense for him to at least receive and offer). Someone on ESPN just said Florida may go after Stoops. I think that would result in the state of Oklahoma declaring war on the state of Florida. GET A GUN!
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:10 (thirteen years ago) link
stoops was DC there under spurrier and i think UF has tried to get him every single time that job has opened since then
― gimme schefter (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:26 (thirteen years ago) link
If I'm Stoops, what's the upside? It's not like Oklahoma is a struggling program and, if anything, the competition in the Big 12 is probably easier.
Now, if I'm Jon Gruden, and the Miami job wasn't enough to sway me, the UF job would definitely get my attention.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:28 (thirteen years ago) link
there really is no reason for stoops to go to UF, which is why he's turned them down three separate times
― gimme schefter (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:35 (thirteen years ago) link
i would be surprised if UF went after gruden -- dan mullen & charlie strong are two of the hottest coaching names & both have direct & immediate ties to the program -- if they want either of those guys, they'll get them
also petrino will leave arkansas in like one second to go there
― gimme schefter (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:36 (thirteen years ago) link
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Harbaugh and Bielema receive phonecalls over the next couple days. Probably Malzahn too.
OH DUDES Can you imagine Mike Leach coaching at UF?!!!!
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:39 (thirteen years ago) link
if mullen bolts this off season malzahan is prob a shoe in for that job
― gimme schefter (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:40 (thirteen years ago) link
apparently leach was on paul finebaum's show today openly lobbying for the miami gig
― gimme schefter (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:41 (thirteen years ago) link
(which he could've had back in 07 if he didn't allegedly show up drunk to the interview)
lol Mike Leach...I hate celebrity reality shows, but I would watch The Mike Leach Show, like, yesterday!
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 9 December 2010 00:43 (thirteen years ago) link
Jordan otm on malzahn for mullen at miss state.
Per petrino ha ha yes yes, he's such a quitter whatevs. Thing is, Arkansas has such a hella buyout clause on him that they could go get gruden.
We like BMFP and he likes us.

Some buzz around here that UF is going to approach Chris Petersen. This is just based on something the local sports guy said on the news, so it's not authoritative by any means, but it sounds good.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Saturday, 11 December 2010 07:33 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah most rumors i've read are saying that they're gonna make a formal offer to him if/when stoops turns them down again, but who knows if that's true
meanwhile the miami search is supposedly down to marc tressman, al golden and randy edsall, atltho there's been so much misinformation regarding the search that i'm not believing much of anything at this point
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 December 2010 07:35 (thirteen years ago) link
I really wanted him to go to Michigan, but they're being awfully slow at firing Rich Rodriguez. Surely they will, though...right? I mean, that dude is AWFUL.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Saturday, 11 December 2010 07:46 (thirteen years ago) link
i think a lot of ppl think they're gonna hang onto him
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 December 2010 07:48 (thirteen years ago) link
one of the downsides about hiring him is that he really transformed what they look for in offensive players (big example being at QB) so you'd arguably have an even longer rebuilding project if they got rid of him
i think there are some ppl that think they could keep him on for one more year with a new DC & see what happens -- cuz their offense was still amazingly good
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 December 2010 07:49 (thirteen years ago) link
i think if he loses the bowl game tho that they might just cut the cord, esp if they get any indication that harbaugh will come
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 December 2010 07:50 (thirteen years ago) link
I can't argue with that. If the defense could stop anyone (I mean ANYONE), Denard would be accepting the Heisman later.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Saturday, 11 December 2010 07:51 (thirteen years ago) link
Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp has accepted an offer to be the head coach at Florida.

My brother, super Gator fan, isn't exactly thrilled.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 12 December 2010 04:11 (thirteen years ago) link
does he know something about this new coach, or is he just upset the gators didn't sign a big name?
hey, we'll probably sign Marc Trestman as our next coach, so . . .
― Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 12 December 2010 04:14 (thirteen years ago) link
Nah, I had to tell him a short history of Muschamp's career. He didn't even recognize the name at first.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 12 December 2010 04:17 (thirteen years ago) link
muschamp was a huge name in coaching circles
― ad hom alone (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 12 December 2010 04:20 (thirteen years ago) link
All I really had to mention is that he's fruit of the Saban coaching tree.
My brother's the kind of fan who only pays attention to his own team. Hardly even watches any other football. His coach of choice was Dan Mullen because he knows who Dan Mullen is.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 12 December 2010 04:29 (thirteen years ago) link

― Daniel, Esq., Monday, 13 December 2010 01:12 (thirteen years ago) link
All three of these moves seem completely WTF to me.
However, it means Petersen is still available to go to UM should Harbaugh turn it down (and assuming they eventually fire Rodriguez).
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Monday, 13 December 2010 01:33 (thirteen years ago) link
i get the sense that, rightly or wrongly, big time ADs making crucial hires are spooked by what happened to the last two boise coaches to jump to a big job
― ad hom alone (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 December 2010 01:36 (thirteen years ago) link
tbf, Koetter and Hawkins went to ASU and Colorado respectively. They were doomed from day one.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Monday, 13 December 2010 01:43 (thirteen years ago) link

― ad hom alone (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 December 2010 01:44 (thirteen years ago) link
Yeah, it seemed like that was a smokescreen to throw people off Muschamp's scent.
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Monday, 13 December 2010 01:47 (thirteen years ago) link
but it's hard to decipher how much of that has to do with the perception that he doesn't want to leave BSU anytime soon
― ad hom alone (J0rdan S.), Monday, 13 December 2010 01:48 (thirteen years ago) link
True. BSU is always sniffing to top tier of the BCS, even if they always remain the bridesmaid. A couple more seasons like the last few, and he can virtually name his price at any school he chooses.

to=the
lol @ the Big Ten
They've unveiled their new logo (which looks like garbage and does not conceal a 12 in its design anywhere like it did with an 11 for many years). Also, they've named their divisions: Leaders and Legends.
Uh, whut?! LEADERS AND LEGENDS? There's no way that lasts longer than the end of this week.
