I think a playoff is inevitable in the long-term - like I'd put money on there being at least an 8 team system in place in 2030. the actual politics of how that's gonna happen are murky, and there are some very strong vested interests, but the amount of money being left off the table w/ this stupid bowl system is eventually gonna be what moves the process

Okay, 34-10 now. I'm done with you, Fiesta Bowl.

Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 2 January 2011 23:31 (thirteen years ago) link

Go Trees! BTW - can Lexus knock it off with their disgusting Christmas ad campaign? It's fucking January.

schwantz, Tuesday, 4 January 2011 03:57 (thirteen years ago) link

gruden out of context: 'andrew luck is a guy who does not make impulse decisions. he made that clear to us last night.'

rag photographique (ytth), Tuesday, 4 January 2011 04:21 (thirteen years ago) link

VA Tech's last punt didn't even make it to the first down marker (it was 4th and 40!). Ouch.

schwantz, Tuesday, 4 January 2011 04:32 (thirteen years ago) link

Rich Rod FIRED

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Tuesday, 4 January 2011 19:48 (thirteen years ago) link

Or maybe not...

Anyway, Darius Rucker needs to NOT be singing the Star Spangled Banner ever again.

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 01:28 (thirteen years ago) link

go bucks

brownie, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 01:31 (thirteen years ago) link

brownie try atdhe.net

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 02:08 (thirteen years ago) link

arkansas o line & dbs are kinda horrible

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 January 2011 03:21 (thirteen years ago) link

Receivers can't catch, either. Arkansas and LSU both were overrated all season, but wins trump all in the BCS.

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 03:31 (thirteen years ago) link

yea their o-line is getting worked

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 03:32 (thirteen years ago) link

atdhe makes me do stuff!

thx anyway kevin

brownie, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 03:34 (thirteen years ago) link

this happens ever so often w/ ohio st & in bcs games tho -- their d-line dominated when they beat miami in 01, oregon last year & tonight

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 January 2011 03:34 (thirteen years ago) link

go bucks!

brownie, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 03:45 (thirteen years ago) link

wait, do both team have a combined 600 yards in offense right now?

brownie, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 03:49 (thirteen years ago) link

Watching that Under Armor HSAA game right now, and Auburn's about to have another freak at the QB position named Kiehl Frazier: http://www.kiehlfrazier15.com/Home.html

Meanwhile, Alabama's picking up a guy named Phillip Ely out of Florida who I've seen play in three high school games this year, and he got injured in ALL THREE of them. Great, I can't wait for him to get injured regularly on the college level. *groan*

wtf is "Beef O'Brady"

I Am Kurious Assange (polyphonic), Thursday, 6 January 2011 01:26 (thirteen years ago) link

It's a chain of awful restaurants (maybe just in Florida?).

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 6 January 2011 01:39 (thirteen years ago) link

Stop me if I'm wrong Johnny but it's like a sports bar that's family friendly?

http://tinyurl.com/MO-02011 (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 6 January 2011 01:48 (thirteen years ago) link

there's one in my hometown of Saginaw Michigan

brownie, Thursday, 6 January 2011 01:55 (thirteen years ago) link

Didn't know it was that widespread.

Yeah, it's sports-bar-ish but they have a full menu (of disgusting food).

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 6 January 2011 01:57 (thirteen years ago) link

Terrible name. Makes Fuddruckers sound regal.

I Am Kurious Assange (polyphonic), Thursday, 6 January 2011 06:35 (thirteen years ago) link

When I went home to visit a couple years back I went to this place. Unremarkable bar food basically. But I did go on a Sunday afternoon and they had every single NFL game on- so I got to watch the browns play, first time I've been able to watch a cleveland team in my hometown. ::thumbs up::

brownie, Thursday, 6 January 2011 13:53 (thirteen years ago) link

Andrew Luck is staying at Stanford!!!

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 6 January 2011 19:37 (thirteen years ago) link

really not that shocked tbh -- nfl is in a shitty situation, the kid is one year away from a degree at stanford & after what happened w/ bradford it's not like he's risking anything unless he gets into a fatal car accident

J0rdan S., Thursday, 6 January 2011 19:40 (thirteen years ago) link

I just figured that maybe he was tied closer to Harbaugh than he apparently is. (Or maybe that IS the case, and we'll find out Harbaugh's coming back?)

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 6 January 2011 19:41 (thirteen years ago) link

Luck has a 3.5 GPA in architectural engineering!

I Am Kurious Assange (polyphonic), Thursday, 6 January 2011 19:52 (thirteen years ago) link

dammit

iatee, Thursday, 6 January 2011 19:53 (thirteen years ago) link

harbaugh has no particular reason to stay, has achieved about as much as you can expect to achieve at stanford. could *possibly* aim for a national title w/ luck next year, but not worth the risk w/ his stock price as high as it can get anyway.
