can't really blame the Patriots, in fact I'm glad they took this step. If Hernandez somehow got through this with little or no punishment, I would not feel very comfortable with the Pats holding on to him. I don't want a Ben Roethlisberger or a Ray Lewis on the team. I don't want to have to make excuses for someone or watch fans celebrate a criminal.

almost a little too convenient

Dude's going to carry the team all by himself. Can he play QB and TE at the same time?

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 14:51 (eleven years ago) link

needs homicide detectives to give him a big white T

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 14:55 (eleven years ago) link

pretty convenient that this happens on the same day that the Supreme Court was to rule on DOMA. Is someone trying to throw off the scent? A fitting allegory, a Patriot being thrown in jail, all for the convenience of our fearless leader.

Your time is coming. There are only so many players that can commit convenient homicides for you. THIS IS OBAMA'S AMERICA!

from USA today

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. - Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been charged with murder in the death of 27-year-old semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, who was found shot execution-style about a half-mile from Hernandez's home.

Hernandez appeared in a packed courtroom number one at Attleboro District Court, where he faces five charges, the most significant being murder. Hernandez also faces charges of possessing a firearm without a license, possessing a large capacity firearm and a firearm without an ID card.

yikes! I'd like to know if the investigators have been able to determine at all what circumstances led to the murder.

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 18:52 (eleven years ago) link

it seems like the only way hernandez could've left more evidence connecting him to this murder would be if he had autographed the corpse

such an unbelievable story and what an incredible fuckup.

did he seriously think he'd get away with it or did he just not care? this whole thing is pretty unfathomable to me.

xpost I cannot believe Hernandez executed the man because he was talking to people he didn't approve of. That's a level of insanity I cannot fathom unless Hernandez is a true psychopath. Aren't most psychopaths intelligent?

Rod Steel (musicfanatic), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 19:55 (eleven years ago) link

Either way, what a waste.

Rod Steel (musicfanatic), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 19:56 (eleven years ago) link

well clearly there's more to it than "he didn't like them"

but as far as executions go this is one of the dumbest i've ever heard of

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:00 (eleven years ago) link

A dude was killed for what seems like the stupidest of reasons by, presumably, someone who was dumb enough to leave shell casings in the car, chewing gum at the murder location, be caught on his own home surveillance system walking around with a gun, trying to destroy that very surveillance system, breaking his cellphone, and hiring an outside company to clean his house top to bottom the day of the murder. It sounds like to me that he just lost his temper and, instead of walking away like an adult, acted like a dumbass and offed the dude with no plans in place to cover his tracks.

Regardless of this guys innocence or guilt, the came to the Pats with serious known issues. Amazing how a guy like Tebow gets trashed for his efforts to be a decent person, but guys like this get a pass.

Šite New Answers (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:03 (eleven years ago) link

crazy thing is it doesn't even seem impulsive, like the dude pulled a spider and told him to fuck off and hernandez shot him in a flash of anger. sounds like a planned execution.

christmas candy bar (al leong), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:03 (eleven years ago) link

i just have to say, to no one in particular, i am aware hernandez came out of college with "issues" (tho i might debate "serious") but afaicr in the years he was in new england there was no indication, like not even a hint of a rumor, that he was doing anything he wasn't supposed to be doing.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:06 (eleven years ago) link

I don't think Tebow gets trashed for his efforts to be a decent person!

kind of annoys me that to do jail time as an active NFL player, you essentially have ot murder someone (or run a dogfighting ring), when people like Leonard Little can kill people while driving drunk and keep getting DUIs after and only go on probation, but...I'm glad at least they nabbed Hernandez and that the Patriots did the right thing in cutting him.

someone call up Steve Harvey so he can do his RaeCarruth2013 rant on Hernandez.

Neanderthal, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:18 (eleven years ago) link

cad otm, hernandez actually seemed like a model professional since he joined the pats, cf glowing character ref from kraft when extension was signed.

also, it seems like there was very little planned about this murder. i think the media got carried away with the "execution style" excitement.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:25 (eleven years ago) link

i am assuming that means like one shot between the eyes or something? that is how i do my executions at any rate

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:26 (eleven years ago) link

it was a little hard to grasp the details and timeline but it seems premeditated if not exactly "orchestrated"

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:26 (eleven years ago) link

well it seems like they took him to a secluded area specifically to murder him... they didn't shoot him in the head though which is how most people picture executions

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:27 (eleven years ago) link

oh so he wasn't shot in the house?

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 20:28 (eleven years ago) link

maybe he shot him in the leg as a warning and it bounced up into his heart
